Free Films at the St. Martins Lane Finishes Up London Fashion Week
If you're in London, it may seem as it London Fashion Week has been going on forever, when it reality it's only been a few days and will continue only a couple days more, until February 23. London hotels, however, wish Fashion Week would never end as their rooms, bars, lobbies and restaurants fill up with the rich, the beautiful and the powerful (and those who want to seem rich, beautiful and/or powerful).
At the St. Martins Lane Hotel, they've partnered with Nowness.com to stretch the magic until February 28 with a pop-up space where hotel guests and the public can pop in to watch fashion films projected on the wall, films like a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of Temperley London's British Museum fashion show.

St. Martins Lane Gets Its Own Mega-Vending Machine, This Time from Selfridges

Conde Nast Traveler's Truth.Travel blog is well-aware of the luxe vending machine that recently opened at the Hudson Hotel but they've also got the scoop on another Morgans Hotel with a "ridiculuxe" machine--St. Martins Lane.
The hotel unveiled its Love Machine, stocked with goodies from the Selfridges department store during London's Fashion Week the other week but unlike the Hudson and the Mondrian South Beach, this machine will remain in place only until October 15.
Yet while it's there, you can select from the Love Machine's six categories—accessories, beauty, menswear, womenswear, food, and home. Some of the goodies you can buy?

Best Celebrity Performance at a Hotel: David Hasselhoff

It's what you've been waiting all year for--The 2009 HotelChatter Awards! We'll be bringing you the best and worst of the year (and the decade) all day today and part of tomorrow. Agree or disagree with our picks? Air your thoughts in comments below.
BEST CELEBRITY PERFORMANCE: DAVID HASSELHOFF
This year was really tough to choose a best celebrity performance. If you weren't sure how we evaluated the winners for this award, it's largely done based on the frequency with which a celebrity visits hotels. It's also based on the crazy behavior a celebrity exhibits while staying at hotels. Like Britney Spears in 2006 and 2007. Ah, those were the golden years.
But last year's winner, Eliot Spitzer, was based on a single hotel stay--with a prostitute in DC--because it caused such a firestorm that gripped the nation for most of 2008.
So you could say that this year's winner could be Tiger Woods given his penchant for women who work in hospitality. But we doubt Tiger will be hooking up with ladies in hotels anymore. We could also choose Dennis Rodman, but that would be rewarding bad behavior to women, wouldn't it?
We briefly considered Amy Winehouse who spent early 2009 terrorizing the folks in hotels on St. Lucia. And Miss Lindsay Lohan is making quite a comeback these days--as far as her hotel sightings. We think she's one to watch in 2010.
But when it comes to a spectacular celebrity performance, there is only one clear winner--David Hasselhoff.

The Hoff Wets a Hotel Bed, Punches a Doctor and Gets Locked in the Basement

David Hasselhoff may still be a foxy-looking old man but he has the nighttime habits of a 7-year-old. According to the latest entry in the "Hoff Gets Ridiculously Drunk" diary, Hasselhoff got far too sloshed at the birthday bash for Simon Cowell and wet the bed in his room at the St. Martins Lane in London and assaulted a doctor that was called to help him. The Sun reports:
A source close to the star said: "David is very hard to handle when he drinks, often very emotional and aggressive.
"On this occasion he became so drunk he wet his hotel bed - ruining two mattresses - and was becoming a real pain for staff. His assistant Joe Townley was so concerned he called out a doctor. David was furious and lashed out at him - but mistakenly hit the doctor. They decided they had no option but to lock him in the basement until an ambulance arrived."....

The St Martins Lane Hotel Celebrates Ten Years With London's PYTs

Helping the laydees: David Walliams escorts Rosie Huntington-Whiteley home last night
Bungalow 8 London may have been losing its aura a little over the last couple of years, but the swanky St Martins Lane Hotel pulled in a hefty bunch of celebs last night for its 10th birthday party. Although when we say celebs, we mainly mean David Walliams and a coterie of barely legal ladies. Still, barely legal ladies seem to be the cream of the London social scene at the moment, so they actually did pretty well.
The slightly uninspiring invite (on a piece of tracing paper, no less) promised VV Brown, Bungalow 8 DJs and a "special guest". Blah. Instead, what we got was model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Prince Harry’s on-off ladyfriend Chelsy Davy, Bond girl Gemma Arterton, celeb-spawn Kelly Osbourne, and the ever-ghastly Peaches Geldof. Oh, and comedians Alan and Jimmy Carr were there as well.

Inside The St Martin's Lane Hotel

The faboo Monica Guy returns with a review of a swank and not-for-everyone London hotel. Enjoy.
You think we live in a free society? Try getting into the St Martin's Lane Hotel in London.
With its towering mirror-windowed, office-block style and revolving doors you'd think you were in Canary Wharf or the City, not just a short hop from Trafalgar Square in prime theatre land. But it's not for old businessmen. Oh no. Not at all.
See who's allowed in after the jump.

Fergie Lets Her London Bridge Go Down at St. Martin's Lane Hotel

While visiting the city of her crappy but infectious song, "London Bridge" (which btw is not that London bridge you used to sing about while doing Ring around the Rosey), Fergie holed up at the St. Martin's Lane Hotel in Covent Garden.
Or perhaps she was just visiting the hotel's hip Light Bar since she looks a little worse for wear here. And believe us, this is the best picture of her in the bunch.
