The Dorchester Celebrates 80 Years of Celebrity Meltdowns...With Trees?
The Dorchester Hotel, home to many a celebrity breakdown, is having a birthday, and not just any birthday--an 80th birthday. Congrats! They've outlived Liz Taylor and Michael Jackson! (even though he was banned from the hotel.)
But yet instead of hosting some crazy party filled with all the crazy celebs who've had crazy times at the hotel, The Dorchester is doing something rather, well, sane, to mark the occasion.
On April 18, the hotel will be planting 15 Future Great Trees throughout the city. It's not very rock’n’roll but at least it’s eco friendly. The idea is that these trees will become London landmarks like the tree which has grown outside The Dorchester for many years. A special cocktail is also in the making and a selection of suites will be refurbed to mark this joyous occasion.
We wish the Dorchester nothing but the best in the next 80 years...the best of celebrity meltdowns that is.

The Dorchester Hotel has more than its fair share of celebrity guests - and it was only a couple of months ago that Nicki Minaj got the boot after her fans caused mayhem. However there were no reports of trouble when their latest guest, Willow Smith stayed, as she supports Justin Bieber on his UK tour. In fact Willow was pictured meeting and greeting her fans and signing autographs as she left the hotel.
We just hope she didn’t flick her hair anywhere near the other guests' food or faces for that matter. Especially with those new yellow braids she has been sporting - she could take someone's eye out!

We really enjoyed sharing afternoon tea with Katy Perry at Claridige’s last year. Ok, ok we may not have been invited by her but that didn’t stop us getting extra close to her table and gawking.
So when we saw that The Dorchester was running a special afternoon tea with Amanda Wakeley we couldn’t resist sharing it with you. Especially as the designer will actually be present, table-hopping to solve your shopping queries and share her experiences of the fashion industry.

London Mayor Gets Suite Justice by Canceling FIFA Officials' Dorchester Rezzies
The Dorchester is known for being celeb crazy central, so it's no surprise that it's also the scene of some political drama.
London Mayor Boris Johnson revoked an invite to World Cup-governing FIFA officials to shack up at the hotel's posh suites for free during the 2012 Olympic Games in the city. The suites cost £1,000 or $1,562 a night, and the officials were slated to stay for more than a week.

Sippin' on Gin and Tea at the Dorchester in London
We love the Dorchester bar and we love its cocktails even more so we’re excited to hear about the latest drink to grace its Martini glasses: the Bombay Londres.
Made from Bombay Sapphire gin (naturlich) along with Darjeeling tea, mango syrup and lime, it’s a catch it while you can-type cocktail – it’s only available until December. But then again, could there be a better excuse to get drinking?
It costs £15.50 which is pretty standard for the Dorchy, and if it tastes anything like what we’ve had from there before, it will be very good in the extreme. Go enjoy!

When We Grow Up, We Want to Hit the Dorchester Spa
Pretty pots of nail polish may not quite be what we had in mind yesterday when we asked what secrets the doormen at the The Dorchester could tell us, but anyways. These pictures make us happy so we thought we had to share.
We were privy to a tour of the new (relatively – it opened last year) spa recently, and were utterly enchanted by the manicure room.

Ah yes, The Dorchester. Famous spot of celebrity breakdowns, divine tea service, and even a Sex and the City package, but it's always important to remember that at the end of the day, it's still just another expensive hotel in London.
We recently meandered around the place, and amongst all of the decadence and splashes of art nouveau, we were most taken with the proper green-suited doormen, who have no doubt seen their share of notorious guests and illustrious arrivals. Oh, the stories these men must have—but then, they'd never tell. The Dorchester Collection is a we-don't-kiss-and-tell type of place.

Well, The Dorchester’s getting a bit racy at the moment, isn’t it? If it’s not taking over the ex Playboy Club as its latest outpost, it’s jumping on the whole Sex and the City bandwagon.
Not that the Dorchester would sell sex, of course – in fact, it’s not even mentioning the word. Michael Madsen Mistakes The Dorchester for a Tarantino Movie Set
Whoops -- seems like someone went a little cray-cray at The Dorchester in London this past Sunday. Those poor Dorchester employees seriously can't catch a break with this steady stream of obnoxious celebrity guests...
Michael Madsen was hospitalized with cuts a bruises after making a big ruckus in his room. According to the Sun:
A guest complained that all hell was breaking lose. There was a lot of screaming and shouting and staff called the police. He had a furious row with his woman companion and it was feared they might hurt each other. An ambulance was called because of concerns for his mental health. Madsen looked wild-eyed.
Oy. The dude wasn't arrested and had no major injuries (besides those injuries to his reputation). Also, this wasn't the first time a Kill Bill star made a fuss at the Dorchester; Uma and Daryl Hannah couldn't even deal with staying in rooms near each other when they stayed at the D in 2004.
