Justin Timberlake is Hot For Claridge's

Justin Timberlake has been largely out of the tabloids lately. Well, we take that back: he's been off our radar a little bit because his seemingly-stable relationship and not-tanking career have kept him off the covers, and his decently non-scandalous life does not appear to be any match for the Jon and Kate saga or the MJ situation.

That said, let's take a hot pause to avert our gaze toward the lovely JT, who recently did an interview with the London Evening Standard (we assume this is Justin, by the way, and not a Justin-impersonator with a Y chromosome, even though the headline says "Justine" at post time).

Get a Taste of Chiva-Som This Week at Claridge's London

With the good ol' economy the way it is right now (and those problems in Bangkok, come to think of it), we can't really get to Thailand at the moment. Let alone to a posh place in Thailand like the internationally-known wellness resort Chiva-Som.

But all is not lost, because (a bit of) Chiva-Som has made its way to London. Well, the resort's Executive Chef Paisarn Cheewinsiriwat has made his way to London, to be precise. To combat Easter's over-indulgence, Claridge's has flown the chef over to cook up some "gourmet spa cuisine" (i.e., low on the bad stuff like calories and fat, and high on super-fresh ingredients).

Chef Paisarn's three-course menu is being served until Friday in Claridge's Foyer & Reading Room (choose from things like herbed chicken coconut soup and steamed mussels with basil). That one costs £32.50; if you really want to go all out, you can try a gala dinner tomorrow evening (including a champagne reception) for £100.

To book, contact the Foyer & Reading Room on +44 (0)207 490 6307.

Diane von Furstenberg to Design Rooms at Claridge's

Diane von Furstenberg's iconic wrap dress is universally pleasing: it's comfortable, it looks good on every woman (or so they say; we're inclined to agree), the design is timeless and the possibilities, with so many accessories and patterns and colors to play with, are endless. And so it should come as no surprise to any of us that a designer known to excel at sensible flexibility, comfort and universally-pleasing aesthetics was tapped to design a few hotel rooms.

In an interview with Florida's Centre Daily Times, the fashion queen, in discussing her recent endeavors, just casually dropped that she happens to be dabbling in interior design. She says she'll be designing "just a few rooms at [her] favorite hotel, Claridge's in London." While she goes into no further detail about her ideas for her rooms at that the luxe London hotel, we're psyched to see what she comes up with. Wrap dresses in the closets? Terrycloth wrap dresses instead of robes, even? Yes please.

Will Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban Respect the Furniture at Claridge's?

Recent months have seen a few ugly celebrity scenes at Claridge's Hotel in London, with Courtney Love's careless cigarette behavior causing an expensive fire in her room (she's not allowed to go back), and friends visiting Kate Moss and Pete Doherty during their stay there needing to be ejected over some boisterous parties.

This week at Claridge's they've got Nicole Kidman and hubby Keith Urban as guests while they're in town for the premiere of Nicole's new movie The Golden Compass. That's the movie based on Philip Pullman's book Northern Lights, and it's interesting to know that Nicole only agreed to do the role--of a villain--after receiving a personal letter from Pullman.

Anyway, so far so good, no news that either Nicole or Keith have done any damage at Claridge's. Perhaps that'll restore their faith in celebrity guests.

Courtney Love Blacklisted at Claridge's Hotel

Celebrities are just like us! They get blacklisted at hotels.

The latest blacklist happened to rocker trainwreck Courtney Love who reportedly wants to stay at the Claridge's Hotel on her next trip to London but they won't have her.

Love reportedly started a fire in her $3,000-a-night suite after smoking a cigarette during her last stay and the room had to be completely redecorated. A source tells British newspaper the Daily Mirror, "She's desperate to stay at Claridges again, but when her people tried to get her a suite it was a no go. Even the best known fixers in the business can't get her in there."

Not that we blame Claridges. We wouldn't even let Love use our telephone.

Pete Doherty and Kate Moss Hole Up at Claridge's

Somehow someway the world's biggest living druggie, Pete Doherty, is not in jail or rehab. And somehow someway the once-beautiful Kate Moss thinks he's attractive.

Most recently, the mismatched duo have been staying in a 1,500 pound-a-night suite at the Claridge's Hotel in London for a few days reconciling and probably doing some other stuff. This is London writes:

Doherty, 28, was last night pictured returning to the hotel after walking free from court on a technicality following a police blunder.

He had faced jail for breaching bail conditions. But because officers didn't bring him to court within 24 hours of his arrest, magistrates were forced to let him go.

There was no sign of Miss Moss coming or going from the hotel yesterday but sources said the pair had been meticulous about leaving and arriving separately.

They've also been having some boisterous room parties as hotel security ejected some of their friends once the room occupancy was exceeded.

God we feel sorry for the Claridge's housekeeping staff.

Tea Time at Claridge's

The English are very picky about their tea time (a British friend almost fainted when we once microwaved hot water for a cuppa'.) But when they stay at the Claridge's Hotel in Mayfair neighborhood of London, the tea will always be just right.

The hotel won first place in the UK's Tea Council awards because their tea was:

bright and golden, and a comprehensive selection ensured there was something to suit everyone's tastes."

The staff also got shout-outs for their "attentive manner." It's about time too. The hotel's been serving tea for 100 years.
