There are a few things to finish up, like installing a quad lift next summer – but British Columbia's Red Mountain Resort'snewest peak, Grey Mountain, is officially open for business.
The opening comes toward the tail end of an 8-year, $50 million overhaul which includes the addition of slope-side lodging which begins at $159 per night. Slalom Creek offers mostly 3-bedroom accommodations, each with a private hot tub and high ceilings. The adjacent lodge, which was also part of the project, houses cafes and restaurants for easy-access dining options.
It appears Red Mountain Resort has been spending its money well: Last year, the New York Times named it the “Top Ski Resort for the Extreme Skier” in their Snow Guide and the Toronto Star spoke well of its powder, trees, and steep runs, ranking Red Mountain as the #2 ski resort in the world.
