The Waldorf Astoria Syon Park Finds Its New Poster Girl

Last year, London archeologists were having had a field day—literally—at the Waldorf Astoria Syon Park Hotel, whose grounds were full of ancient Roman goodies like road fragments, jewelry, and even some skeletons. And thanks to the Daily Mail, those items essentially became some of the first images to be associated with the iconic London hotel. Now, the saga continues with the discovery of a certain snake-haired female.
Most likely, the hotel was hoping to be known for something other than a Medusa head, but we like how these archeological finds keep popping up. Nevermind the pastoral appeal of picnics in Syon Park's "secret garden," or the exotic "butterfly house" located inside the lobby. The real draw of this 200-acre hotel, which opened in March, is its history. Though Waldorf Astoria Syon Park initially said they would honor the discoveries with an exhibit in the hotel, nothing has materialized. May we suggest snake-hair wigs for all the staff members? No? Too much?

Treat Yourself To A Piggy At Syon Park
Fancy buying yourself a Micro pig? Then head to London Syon Park where they are selling them in the tropical zoo for the bargain price of £600. That’s right not only does the hotel have a butterfly world, it's also housed next door to a tropical zoo.
The zoo houses animals which have been rescued either by customs, from other zoos or private collectors. Jo Fernandez from The Evening Standard reviewed the hotel and even got to hold a baby crocodile while she was there.

Another London Biggie Opens, and This Time It's The Waldorf=Astoria's Syon Park
With the amount of London hotel debut announced last year it's no surprise that 2011 is the year of openings. This time it's the turn of Waldorf=Astoria's London Syon Park, which opened its doors on Tuesday March 8th.
The hotel was slightly delayed but we'll let them off mainly because Miss Moss was there and they have a butterfly world, ice cream sundae bar and on site plastic surgeon. The hotel also features a fruit orchard of apples, pears and berries, all of which will be used in its four restaurants.

Waldorf Astoria's Syon Park Delays Its Opening (Though Kate Moss Has Popped By Already)
Another day, another hotel delay. This time it's the turn of the Waldorf Astoria's London Syon Park Hotel. It should have opened on Tuesday, but, surprise surprise, hotel will now open on March 8th or so it says on the hotel's website.
There is no reason given for the delay but it looks like they've already had their first visitor - a certain Miss Moss stopped by with Mario Testino to shoot the campaign for the Vogue Eyewear Spring/Summer collection. Which makes us want to visit even more! If it's good enough for Mossy, it's good enough for us.

Waldorf Astoria's Syon Park is Now Taking Rezzies For February 22nd
The last time we checked on Waldorf Astoria's London Syon Park hotel, we learned that a Roman settlement had been unearthed on the site during construction a few years back. Despite that, the hotel promised an early 2011 opening and we remained skeptical. But guess what? The country retreat is now taking bookings for February 22nd.
Syon Park calls itself a “new English Playground” and by the sound of its amenities it looks like it’s going to be pretty spesh. As well as a butterfly house in the lobby, an ice cream sundae bar named Brownie, a private club and a martini bar, there will be a restaurant featuring “Landscape Cooking” which showcases local ingredients and herbs grown in the grounds -- all presented with a touch of theatre (whatever that means?).

Waldorf Astoria's Upcoming London Hotel Already a Historic Site

We know that the older crowds are fond of the Waldorf Astoria Collection but these people might be too old, even for the luxury hotel chain.
According to the Daily Mail, an ancient Roman settlement has been unearthed in Syon Park on the site of the forthcoming Waldorf Astoria Syon Park, just outside of London.
Around 11,500 fragments of pottery, 100 coins and jewellery were uncovered by the experts from the Museum of London Archaeology, along with burial sites containing human remains and a Roman road.

Stay In, Get Surgery at Waldorf Astoria's New UK Country Retreat
The lobby, complete with butterfly house
What do you do when you own one posh hotel in London? Open a country retreat just down the road and make it so self-sufficient - including a resident plastic surgeon - that your guests will never need to leave. That’s the plan according to Waldorf Astoria, anyway – they already have a London property – the Bentley in Knightsbridge – but they’re opening a second one, Syon Park, out by Kew, in November.
According to the website, it’s being billed as “the English country playground as only Waldorf Astoria could dream it” (with a Midsummer Night’s Dream-ish picture to boot).
It’s in the grounds of Syon House – a 200 acre park that already houses the Duke of Northumberland, in between London and Heathrow, and just across the water from Kew Gardens.
