Conde Nast Traveller has named the unopened Haymarket Hotel in London as one of the world's finest new establishments. They claim the criteria doesn't have to include actually being an opened, servicing hotel---just "style and talent to see off even the toughest competition."

The hotel also made the Times of London's list of the World's Hotttest Hotels last month, so this place had better be good when it opens on May 1.

Built in three Georgian houses next to the Theatre Royal, it has 50 bedrooms and three suites as well as a fivebedroom villa.

The owners Tim and Kit Kemp of Firmdale Hotels want the place to be British but not "terribly British" and still have a contemporary edge. The hotel will also include a public bar and an Italian restaurant. And of course, the pool with "nightclub" lighting. A double room will cost from £245 a night while a two-bedroom suite will go for around £2,250.

Over in London hotel-lovers are getting ready for the opening of the latest in the Firmdale chain of luxury boutique hotels. Firmdales are often the hotels of choice for celebs like J Lo or Kylie, and they'll have a new place to rest their poor weary heads soon, when the Haymarket Hotel opens in April.

Last week the UK Times listed Firmdale properties on their list of the World's Hottest Hotels--not bad for something that hasn't actually opened its doors yet. They're excited because of the "knockout 18-metre pool with a nightclub-style sound-and-lighting rig", and the handy location near Trafalgar Square. They're not advertising any opening specials at the moment: just pretty pricey rates starting at 245 pounds ($475) for the smallest accommodation, the luxury double room, and ranging up to 2250 pounds (nearly $4400) for the 2 bedroom suite--not forgetting that their prices don't include the 17.5% tax. But for the chance to basically swim in a nightclub? Maybe it's worth it.
