It'll take a few hard day's nights of work to get this finished in time

Hotel Indigo is on a roll this year with no fewer than 57 hotels in the works, but this week we’re focusing on what to expect from the two UK properties opening this summer, the Hotel Indigo Liverpool, scheduled to open July 8 (pushed back from an original Spring opening), and Glasgow, down for May 2. Today: Liverpool.

If you haven’t been to Liverpool, you’ll be pleasantly surprised. Although we’d like to say it’s not all about the Beatles, that’d be a lie – the city is totally all about the Beatles. But it also has stately architecture, a thriving nightlife scene, and an outpost of London’s wonderful Tate art gallery (currently hosting a modern sculpture exhibition).

It’s also up there with Newcastle on the friendliest locals in Britain list, and there is, of course, an epic ferry in which to cross the Mersey.

The Indigo will be located on Chapel Street, half a mile from the Albert Docks (the most tourist-friendly part of Liverpool, with the Tate, Beatles Story, and plenty of bars, restaurants and shops, all on the waterfront in renovated dock buildings). And if that sounds a lot, fear not – it’s only a five minute walk from the Mersey ferry terminal, and about seven minutes to North John Street, home to the Cavern Club, Hard Day's Night Hotel, and 50,000 Beatles fans at any one time.
