Hotel Vitale Highlights & Questions
By now you know we recently toured San Francisco's newest hotel, and we are happy to report they are officially open.
Oh, and hey THOR, get this, Hotel Vitale said they were going to open in March of 2005 and they did--imagine that.
The Vitale opening was low key, and by that we mean no penguins.
Some Highlights & Questions:
- Views are
amazingunbeatable. - Prices are steep, for a hotel in SF.
- 199 Rooms.
- The best SF hotel terrace we have seen, maybe because we have never found another passable hotel terrace in The City.
- JDV, who developed this hotel also did the Kabuki Spa--so clothing is optional in the Vitale outdoor tubs.
- Why don't these hotel designers ever put the flat screen televisions in a spot you can actually watch them.
Ok that is it for now. If you stay here before we do, let us know how the overnight experience is.

Kimpton's Folly

You can dress up a pig, but it's still a pig. That is the saying right?
Let's start by saying there is nothing ostensibly wrong with the Best Western Tuscan Inn. It is a fine Best Western. Clean enough, quiet enough, located smack dab in the middle of Fisherman's Wharf, and it comes with free WiFi.
So what is not to like?
When we used the Internet's travel roulette wheel to book our San Francisco hotel late last week, we knew we were taking our chances. However, when a $69 dollar a night rate came up in Fisherman's Wharf for what Hotwire described as a "boutique" hotel we could hardly contain our excitement. The Argonaut Hotel had to be behind door #1 right? What other boutique hotels are there in Fisherman's Wharf? Land of misplaced tourists wading through fog in shorts.
