The Le Meridien San Francisco's Pretty But Pricey View
We are suckers for a room with a killer view. We find that we are even more likely to forgive some minor hotel inconveniences if we can stare out the window at something pretty--yeah we are that shallow. Let's help out our fellow hotel mavens by uploading rooms with killer views to the HotelChatter/Flickr photo pool, or by sending the photo along to us. We will feature our favorites in this space from time to time. Remember to tell us the name of the hotel and the room number of the hot view.
A dedicated HotelChatter tipster sent us this drop-dead gorgeous view from a room at the Le Meridien San Francisco on one of the hotel's top floors. He writes:
Attached a picture from Le Meridien San Francisco, one of the top floors (formerly the Park Hyatt), lovely bay view (okay, the office tower in the middle isn't pretty, but still). The Transamerica Pyramid is just out of the picture to the left, the Bay Bridge could be seen when turning to the right. Very enjoyable stay, and excellent value for money.
And may we add that's the Coit Tower in the very back of the photo too. Rooms at the Le Meridien, located on Battery Street in the Embarcadero, don't have a pink color scheme but they do have a modern look with bright red ergonomic desk chairs and swiveling flat-screen TVs. Even better, the hotel is entirely smoke-free. Rooms start next weekend at $349 a night.

Do Memorial Day On the Cheap at Le Meridien San Fran
Le Meridien is on an image-sprucing spree these days, with wacky décor, hotel renovations, and new properties. Lucky for you, they're doing something else: dishing up some killer room discounts at the four-diamond San Francisco property over Memorial Day you know, in case you want another option for gettin' your Danny Tanner on.
Le Meridien San Francisco is offering the deal for Thursday-Sunday stays from May 22-June 7. Though the initial advertised rates for rooms started at $139, people have been snatching them up. Now we hear that you can still get a room May 22-23 for $159 per night, though that evens out a little bit with the $119 you'll pay to stay on May 24. The $139 rate still seems to be holding out on the other travel dates, and is over a 50% discount from the average rate of $325 you'd normally pay to here. Nice.
The hotel is close to the major must-sees downtown, like Union Square, the Ferry Building and the Embarcadero, so it makes for a good home base in the city by the bay.
To book the deal, reserve directly through the hotel's website.

Hyatt San Fran Offering 'Fly Clear' Enrollment Kiosks

The Hyatt Regency San Francisco has started to offer a Clear® Registered Traveler enrollment kiosk in its lobby. What is this? Well, Clear allows business travelers and other frequent flyers expedited passage through airport security checkpoints. Such travelers have to pay a $99.95 fee and have to be pre-screened by the TSA. Then they are given a biometric identity card that allows them to enter a Clear fast pass lane at one of the five airports with such a Clear fast pass lane.
San Jose International Airport, JFK Terminal 7, Orlando, Cincinnati and Indianapolis airports are the current airports featuring the Clear lane. SFO and and DC airports are expected to open some this summer. Another bonus: aside from going in through security faster, you can probably keep your shoes on.
So why is this enrollment center at the Hyatt? It turns out Hyatt has been partnering with Clear since last year offering complimentary memberships to Hyatt Gold Passport Diamond Members. But before you pop into the Hyatt in San Fran, you need to hit up the Clear website for some pre-enrollment stuff. The hotel's enrollment kiosk is open from 7am to 7pm now through Jun. 29.

Simple Plan Strikes Again
Hotels should ban these Canadian punks from their hotel rooms. After one band member was caught screaming out of a NYC hotel room, now we have footage of Simple Plan's lead singer Pierre Bouvier pulling some pranks at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco like throwing firecrackers into the lobby and hocking loogies. Then he randomly finds a party to dance at.
Warning: This video contains annoying Canadian accents. Please mute the volume.

Hyatt Regency Embarcadero locks runners out of the loo
Imagine you have trained for a marathon for six months; you even follow the annoying, and constant, Chronicle Marathon email advice and book a room at the "official" marathon hotel. Then, much to your chagrin, the hotel locks the doors on its lobby bathrooms, on the morning of the race no less! Yup, they might be the official marathon hotel, but allegedly, the last thing the Hyatt Regency Embarcadero wanted this past weekend was a bunch of gaunt runners using their precious toilets.
Imagine trying to run a marathon with your bladder on full. Don't these Hyatt folks watch Sienfeld? Don' t they know these unrelieved runners could easily get euromysitisis poisoning?
Jeez, Hyatt, maybe next year you can accommodate these folks? After all, you were the "official" marathon hotel.
