We are always in search of a good cuppa, so we stopped at the Grand Del Mar for teatime to see whether you can get a decent cup in a warm-weather destination like San Diego.

Tea is typically served in the cozy library just off of the lobby, but our teatime companion wanted to sit at one of the several lobby tables overlooking the golf course. Although several parties came in for tea, we found out that the Grand Del Mar's high tea's high time is during holidays like Mother's Day and Christmas.

Aiming to take advantage of the physical splendor of the neighboring Los Peñasquitos Canyon Preserve, the sprawling but secluded Spanish-revival resort, which is located a half-hour north of San Diego, has put together an “earth-inspired” spa package to help guests unwind in the glories of nature.
