Spend a Red Hot Night with Ronald Reagan
July 19, 2007 at 2:09 PM | 1 Comment

After we did our story yesterday on the Westlake Village Inn, we got another tip about the place and it involves Ronald Reagan. We just can't turn that down.
With the political season just getting started or if you're having a serious case of 80s nostalgia, you can get yourself in the mood by spending a night in Westlake Village Inn's official Ronald Reagan Suite.
It seems that some people are still really into ol' Ronald. In 2000, The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation chose this Westlake (right by the outlet center!) master suite as the official red throwback room, featuring tons of memorabilia from the Reagan era, some portraits of the couple and even an "official jar" of Presidential jelly beans.
You too can get in touch with your inner Reagen-lovin' self by booking the Inn's Presidential Package ($360) which includes one night in the suite complete wih a VIP tour of the Reagan Presidential Library, a copy of The Reagan Diaries, and VIP welcome amenities (lemonade, chocolate, and flowers).
And yes, your very own Official Jar of Presidential Jellybellies is included.

Westlake Village Inn: The Perfect Outlet Center Stop

Over at Jaunted, we've been profiling places to shop in Southern California. Just last week, we took a look at the Camarillo Outlets which is just beyond the San Fernando Valley near Westlake Village.
Thanks to a commenter, we got a recommendation on where to stay if you planning on make a day or two of the outlet center. ExNewYoker suggests staying at the Westlake Village Inn.
Last time a bunch of us went to these outlets we shopped till we dropped then stayed overnight at the nearby Westlake Village Inn with a great restaurant and cool club. We hung out in the pool/hot tub all morning and then left. WVI is off 101 at Lindero.
The inn aims to be a country-style inn with "European fountains, ivy lined trellis walkways, streams, floral ponds, gardens and a picturesque rose arbor featuring over 25 different hues and fragrances." These extravagant grounds are the highlight of the hotel as many guests like the fact that you don't have to walk down a dark hotel corridor to get to your room.
Inside the rooms are the latest in hotel amenities--from WiFi throughout the property to Bose radios and plasma TVs. The restaurant ExNewYorker writes about is Mediterraneo which serves bistro-style fare and the nightclub Bogie's has live music playing every Friday and Saturday nights.
The rates on the place are great too. We checked a room for Friday August 10 for two nights and the going rate was $170 a night.
