Daytime TV Stars do the Darndest Things
Last Friday's episode of Martha Living featured Walt Willy, of All My Children Fame. Our eagle-eyed correspondent, Gem0330 was in the audience and has this report. (Hey, free tickets are free tickets--whether its to Martha or America's Funniest Home Videos.)
Martha was under the impression that Willy simply had a "petting zoo" and liked to cook. (They made little lemon soufflés.) But she didn't realize that he had a miniature animal farm and was a chef at his B&B Crystal Mesa Farm Guest Ranch in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Upon further research GEM0330 discovered this little blurb about the place:
The Farm is decorated in a soothamenitiesing, eclectic blend of Southwestern, `cowboy', and Far Eastern antiques, contemporary pieces, and `new' antiques, fashioned with recycled hardwoods.
We wondered if soothamenitiesing was even a word, so we typed it into a Google Search, and Willy's ranch is the only thing that turns up... thus we think it is an adjective meaning soothing mental enticements of a daytime soap star's B&B.
So if you like Willy aka Jackson Montgomery, or miniature donkeys or even just wanna be soothamenitiesized, head down to Santa Fe.

Sunrise Springs, Santa Fe
Recently had a chance to stay at Sunrise Springs Inn and Retreat in Santa Fe. Absolutely wonderful experience. Fifteen minutes from downtown Santa Fe.
We were able to get one of their "Casitas" for around $140/night (in January) and it was worth every penny. The Casitas are basically like fancy bungalows. The king-bed version we had was especially nice because it did not share a wall with any other unit.
It had a small private, fenced patio. Some of them come with a "Zen meditation" room. We didn't feel as though we needed that feature. The room was huge as it was with a high vaulted ceiling and a fireplace. My only wish is that the bathtub was slightly bigger.
We did not take advantage of any of the spa facilities, but there are many if that's your bag. A pleasant surprise was the amazing Blue Heron restaurant on the premises. Excellent atmosphere, service and food.
Don't let the New Agey language on the website keep you from checking out Sunrise Springs if you're not into that kind of thing. This is truly a wonderful place to stay. I highly recommend the Casita option especially if you want a slightly more private space.
