Room With an Anti-View: Construction Site Vistas from Salt Lake City Marriott
You know the scene. You open the door to your brand new hotel room, run over to the window, open the blinds and bam, you are hit with the anti-view. Maybe you are looking down a dirty alley, witnessing a drug deal, staring at an air shaft in the face, or seeing a brick wall. Whatever you are viewing it is not extremely pleasurable. Help out your fellow hotel mavens by uploading your anti-views to the HotelChatter/Flickr photo pool, or by sending the photo along to us. Remember to tell us the name of the hotel and the room number with the not-so-easy-on-the-eyes view.

Just a few weeks back we ran a story on how the Marriott should pay more attention to its Salt Lake City hotel. This week, Flickr pool contributor Suze07 can confirm that, with this picture of the view from the Marriott Salt Lake City Downtown.
We hate construction work at the best of the times, although we realize that without it, we'll never see a new or improved hotel or any other kind f building, for that matter. But why do they have to do it outside the hotel rooms of innocent people who've paid good money for the room?
We reckon people should get paid to stay in rooms with views like this, not the other way round. You can get doubles at this Marriott for $99 a night, but there's no talk of a bad view discount (yet).

Marriott Needs to Pay More Attention to Salt Lake Property

The Marriott Hotel in the Mormon stronghold of Salt Lake City was a disappointment to one hotel maven, Suze07. Here's what she says:
I was disappointed in this Marriott. Having stayed at various Marriott Hotels throughout the world, I expected more. Sure, it was clean and the employees were nice, but it was shabby. You can tell this was once a lovely hotel, but it needs an overhaul - badly.
I wish we would have stayed at the Hotel Monaco!!
Given that the Marriott family is of the Mormon faith, we think they should spruce this place up. You know, in the spirit of WWJD? Also, we think it's safe to say that one of Ian Schrager's Schrager Hotel by Marriott probably won't pop up here.
