Room with a Killer View: Hotel Schiffmeister

Where: Lake Konigsee | Highway München-Salzburg, Schoenau am Koenigssee, Germany, 83471

We are suckers for a room with a killer view.  We find that we are even more likely to forgive some minor hotel inconveniences if we can stare out the window at something pretty--yeah we are that shallow. Let's help out our fellow hotel mavens by uploading rooms with killer views to the HotelChatter/Flickr photo pool, or by sending the photo along to us. We will feature our favorites in this space from time to time. Remember to tell us the name of the hotel and the room number of the hot view.

OK, we're sold. We love this view at Hotel Schiffmeister on Lake Konigsee. This place looks really exotic and without the name one may guess this was in Asia. But nope, this belongs to good ol' Germany. When you see the hotel itself, the Germany thing plays more into it. Think gingerbread house with mountains in the background. Double-sold.

Hitler's Wartime Retreat To Reopen As A Hotel

Go To The Hotel's Web
Site Where: Hintereck 1, Berchtesgaden, Germany, 83471

Hitler's wartime retreat, up in the Alps, will reopen next month as an Interncontinental Hotels & Resorts luxury property.

Some sixty odd years ago, the building was often used by Hitler and his mistress Eva Braun, as their secret hide out, or something like that.

Jewish groups have reacted angrily to the news that the evil do'ers flop house will open as a lux hotel, however, the Bavarian government has been careful to address concerns that the hotel would become a magnet for Neo-Nazis. Huh?

What do you think? Would you stay here? Maybe the original structure should be knocked down and a brand new property built? Must be some really bad energy in Hitler era structure.
