Paris Hotel Gets to the Meat of the American Election Showdown

Dreaming of deporting yourself to Paris until the election dust settles? You'd be wise to avoid the Hotel Concorde La Fayette--unless, of course, you actually enjoy the oh-so-passé satisfaction of an election being decided on the real, shall we say, meaty issues rather than superficial garnishes.
That's right, the Hotel Concorde La Fayette is following in the election-gimmick trend encroaching hotels stateside and has created a French version of presidential-themed burgers: the O-Burger and Elephant Burger at the La Fayette Bar. (Turns out even the City of Light can't outshine the glaring spotlight surrounding this year's wannabe leaders of the free world.)

A Montmartre Find Without A Fortune

When we were looking for a budget bed in romantic Paris, the two-star Hotel Beausejour Montmartre appealed to us partly because of the quaint English translations on its website--we wanted to "quickly distress from the fuzz of Paris life" and stay in a room "that gives to the garden". It also was truly walking distance from many funky parts of Paris--Montmartre of course, and Sacre Couer, and very near the Place de Clichy metro station--but key was the nightly rates of around 80 Euros for a double.
Some of the rooms have great balconies, with enough space to get into a bottle of red wine and some cheese and crackers, and views over some ramshackle Parisian houses. Breakfast in the garden outside is also a highlight. Inside, you get what you expect when you're staying in the middle of a great city and paying not much--less than perfect beds, sometimes leaky bathrooms and varying service levels depending on who's manning the desk. But for the price, it's perfect.
