Yellow Penguins! Naked Statues! Inside Cincinnati's New 21c Museum Hotel
Fresh off last week's ribbon cutting, we buzzed by Cincinnati's new 21c Museum Hotel on its first Saturday in business for a quick tour. Our visit was so fresh, in fact, the paint literally hadn't even dried yet (we saw a guy running around spot-touching the walls).
When we arrived at 5 o'clock the hotel was booked solid and curious passerby were parading in, some having just caught "The Nutcracker" matinee at the performing arts theater across the street. Or checked out the latest exhibits at next door's sprawling Contemporary Arts Center (designed by Zaha Hadid). Or just pounded few brewskies at Toby Keith's bar around the corner.
In other words, the location's choice and the masses welcome! 24/7, in fact. The 10-floor, 156-room property, just like its Louisville sibling, doubles as a contemporary art gallery whose exhibition spaces are free for anyone to peruse, any day, at any time.

Do the Time Warp at Hilton Cincinnati Netherland's '50s B-Movie Oscars Bash
Oscars time is right around the corner, and if you're dying to see whether Meryl will beat out Sandra for best actress or whether Avatar will sweep all the categories, watch the show in style. This week, we'll look at Academy-sanctioned hotel shindigs where you'll be able to dress up, see if you won the office Oscar pool and help raise cash for charity.
Hollywood may have the glitzy Oscar parties, but we just might be tempted to pass up the chance for star sightings to attend the Hilton Cincinnati Netherland Plaza's 1950s/B-movie-themed bash and after-party on March 7.

Hotel Sick
If you ate at the Hilton Cincinnati Netherland Plaza Hotel between November 29 and December 3, and aren't sick, you might be in the minority. Many guests staying at this art deco Cincy hotel were only able to appreciate the design of the bathrooms.
Cincinnati Health Department is still looking for the cause, and initially only thought 50 to 100 people were ill, turns out that number is a lot higher--like 300 people.

Hotel Court: Our Version of the People's Court
When a hotel management representative takes the time to call out a negative TripAdvisor reviewer, and repeatedly addresses the negative claimant as "Ms. Sandpiper" (screen name sandpipersally), we stand up and take notice. To wit:

The staff was rude, and the room smelled like an old shoe. Not to mention we requested a hot tub and even paid more for it but when we got there no hot tub and no price reduction! To top it off there were mouse droppings in the drawers!

Nick Lachey Visits The Cincinnattian?
Another day, another rumor about Nick cheating on Jessica, or Jessica cheating on Nick.
At this point, we are waiting for the inevitable Jessica's Dad is cheating on his wife with Jessica, but until then...
According to various web sources, today's Newlyweds episode has Nick's childhood pal Chad Leslie claiming that Nick was in a Cincinnatian Hotel room with his girl in the wee hours of the morning.
Obviously, she was trying to hide something. She was in that room for an hour and a half, not answering my calls.
"This is the kind of hotel you just don't want to leave," said one recent guest; maybe dude's girl just got caught up in the moment of a sweet hotel in Cincy--ya know?
