We love hotel renovations nearly just as much as we love new hotels. But what we really love about hotel renovations is seeing the transformation that happens when an old, tired and lackluster room gets a modern makeover and transforms into new, spiffed-up, stylish guest room. Or put more simply, we love comparing the Before and After.

When we visited the The Ritz-Carlton Naples in Florida as a tween back in the early 90s, we're pretty sure the rooms looked similar to what you see above. Fortunately, the hotel has undergone a multi-million dollar makeover that will impress everyone, even those critical tweens.

Keep reading to see how the resort looks after the renovations!

Oompa loompa doompadee doo, we’ve got a perfect puzzle for you: where can you combine one of the greatest movies of all time with the most candy you’ve ever seen in your life, in a setting that is equal parts sunshine and sophistication? This weekend, the answer is the Ritz-Carlton, Naples for the fourth annual Willy Wonka Weekend starting Friday.

For the first time this year, the weekend kicks off with a premiere event on Friday night from 5:30-8:30pm. Guests who buy “golden tickets” ($95 for adults, $85 children ages 12 and under) can enjoy a themed dinner buffet, and an exclusive question-and-answer session with Naples residents Theo and Maddie Dahl, the son and daughter-in-law Roald Dahl. The elder Dahl wrote the original 1964 book, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory on which the movie was based. Guests that evening will also receive a copy of the book signed by Theo Dahl.

New 'Bites' on The Menu at The Ritz-Carlton Naples

As if you aren't already overstuffed from Thanksgiving dinner, the is giving you yet another reason to keep on eating. Tomorrow, the hotel will open their new restaurant called Bites.

The idea is kind of revolutionary for a Ritz-Carlton since Bites, as the name suggests, will offer small plates and cocktails in an intimate lounge-like setting.

No, there’s nothing new about a lounge serving tapas or small-plates menu, but whereas you’ll usually find white table-cloth and sparkling crystal service when dining at a Ritz-Carlton property, Bites is meant to mark a “return to intimacy and comfort in dining, which industry leaders and chefs are noting as necessities in the new decade of dining.”

Translation: this recession is making people nervous, so they want comfortable food and ambiance. That must be why Bites is only charging between $2-14 for each of the 40 plates on the menu, with the average falling around $7.

Ok so Naples and Napolean aren't really similar words but they could be.

At the Ritz Carlton Resort in Naples, Florida on the Gulf of Mexico the Spa was recently ranked the top spa in Florida and #12 in North America.

The only proper way to describe this spa is luxurious. The treatment rooms are equipped with Frette linens and down comforters.

With over 50,000 square feet of spa, there's so much to do!

Just remember to bring your wallet!

(P.S. The Spa Chick has a Spa Guy!)
