Checking Out the Ca' Pisani Design Hotel in Venice
April 1, 2008 at 9:22 AM | 0 Comments

Despite all our advice on budget stays in Venice, if you're really on a budget, you should stay away from the city. But if you're set on visiting and want a design hotel without entirely breaking the bank, we can only recommend the Ca'Pisani Design Hotel.
Very Italian stallion extravagance, with bold mixtures of colours, zebra print rugs, fake flames on light fixtures and fish-shaped keys. Futurist art on the walls. Free WiFi in rooms! Apparently. We haven't tested this. Large rooms and nice big marble bathrooms, both a rare find in Italian hotels. Jacuzzi bath in some suites.

Venice Hotel Find Pans Out For Reader

For as long as we have chronicled hotel reviews, it has been duly noted that finding excellent, decently priced, accommodations in Italy can be, how do you say, spotty.
In light of this plight, when we find Italian hotels that appear to hold up, we always try to let you in on the secret.
Back in 2005 we found Pensione Accademia in Venice. A hotel even Philly Phan could love.
A HotelChatter reader recently put our post to the test in Venice. His thought are this way.

Ca Pisani: Italian Design Hotel
August 5, 2005 at 11:51 AM | 1 Comment

By now you know hotels in Italy make us nervous. Their service pattern is how do you say...spotty at best?
So is Ca' Pisani a sweet Venice hideaway, or typical shoddy service design hotel?
Don't know yet, but it sure does look purdy.

Another Venice Option, This One In Dorsoduro
June 10, 2005 at 11:44 AM | 0 Comments
In the wake of the "Worst Hotel In The World Nominee" we feel some sort of responsibility to bring you a couple of good hotel options in Venice.
Another Venice option of note is the Pensione Accademia, a 16th-century palace next to the canal, with its own docking point.
Even folks from Philadelphia seem to like the Pensione Accademia, on Philly visitor recently said:
The hotel is stunning, and it was so nice to have a drink in the garden in back after a long day of walking. Our rooms were on the canal side. As another review stated, it is a little noisy, especially early in the morning. However, I couldn't get too upset about being woken up with the activity from the canal just outside the hotel and the Grand Canal which is just a few feet away. All in all, I would highly recommend this hotel, and we would happily stay there again.
Come on, you know Philly pholks can be tough to please.
Rooms overlooking the canal and the garden are available.
While singles start at 80, the hotel is running a summer special (July 17-August 31) where available rooms start as low as 67.
