We are suckers for a room with a killer view.  We find that we are even more likely to forgive some minor hotel inconveniences if we can stare out the window at something pretty--yeah we are that shallow. There's nothing quite like a hotel room with a view over one of the world's most famous monuments. And that's what you get at the Oberoi Amarvilas in Agra, India: being just 600 meters away, many of the rooms, like this one, come with a view of the Taj Mahal.

Rates start at 29,500 Indian Rupee for the cheapest rooms, which is around US$740--which sounds expensive even before you remember that it's in India, where the cost of living is a lot cheaper. But come on--a view of the Taj Mahal from your window? That's not something you get every day.

India is in the air, so say the gals at Daily Candy. And if you're into World Wonders, Agra is the place to visit.

If you are going to fly half way round the world to see the Taj Mahal, you may as well get your money's worth.  The Oberoi Amarvilas offers amazing Taj views from every window, and golf car door-to-door service.

Plush rooms with walk-in closets and terraces make it hard for guests to find fault. And we hear it has the best pool in India. Recent reviewers exclaim that "everything is perfect." Rooms with a view are a great way to avoid the hordes of tourists at sunset.  You can relax and watch the colors change on your own terrace in peace. One guest offers the tip to try to get a room on a top floor, as the trees have grown and seem to encroach on the view.  

Of course rooms with the view come at a cost, and this hotel certainly isn't cheap. But neither is the Taj Mahal, so we say live it up.
