We are suckers for a room with a killer view. We find that we are even more likely to forgive some minor hotel inconveniences if we can stare out the window at something pretty--yeah we are that shallow. Let's help out our fellow hotel mavens by uploading rooms with killer views to the HotelChatter/Flickr photo pool, or by sending the photo along to us. We will feature our favorites in this space from time to time. Remember to tell us the name of the hotel and the room number of the hot view.
Since it's totally different from another killer view we liked from Pueblo Bonito a couple of years back, we're super-impressed with this resort. What we especially like about this view is the way you get the pool, the beach and the sea all in one, but there are enough palm fronds to give you a bit of privacy too--you don't want everyone at the pool seeing what you're up to on your balcony.
The only big thumbs down we give is to the Pueblo Bonito's website: all we wanted to do was check some prices but we got bombarded with truly atrocious music and we were too dumb to find the off button for a while. We did manage to find out that a room next week would cost us about $160 a night.
The Esperanza Auberge Resort is a hot place temp-wise to get married, especially this time of year. But that didn't stop NHL star Brett Hull from tying the knot there. According to many past guests, the hotel is pricey but well worth it and is one of the best places to take the plunge.
The wedding brought the hotel all sorts of jock stars like feisty John McEnroe, LA Kings player Sean Avery and more. Now although we didn't find "extra large (jock-approved) beds" listed in the amenities, we assume these guys were kickin' it in the luxury suites which is to say, they were far from roughing it. If you're ready to slam down a few Gs, the hotel website promises only the best:
The 3,000 square foot three-bedroom and 2,200 square foot two-bedroom suites offer sweeping ocean views plus a spacious living and dining area, fireplace, plasma TV, large bedrooms with individual baths, a private pool and whirlpool spa, 24-hour butler service, and more than 1,000 square feet of outdoor space for relaxing or entertaining.
So if you want to pretend you're the subject of MTV's next Cribs show, you can book one of these luxury suites and indulge to no end. You can also go the more humble route however, with the standard, but still oceanfront "casita". This isn't exactly the low-life though so don't feel bad. You'll still get a glamorous room and your WiFi too.

It's a wise old tried and true saying: what happens in Cabo, stays in Cabo. But when TripAdvisor discovered The Bungalows Hotel in Cabo San Lucas, they voted the hotel one of 2005's Best Hidden Gem as well as one of the Best Bargain hotels.
So what is so special about this place?
For starters, there is only 16 bungalows which means privacy and peace as opposed to a resort place favored by the cast of "Laguna Beach." Each bungalow is air-conditioned with a kitchenette, private bath, purified water, and authentic Mexican furnishings. Most of them overlook the hotel's salt-water pool.
The hotel is family-run and staff is completely hands-on with all its guests. Plus you wake-up each morning to a freshly-made gourmet by Chef Estela.
The only downside to the hotel is that it is slightly out of town:
About a 5-10 minute walk from the main strip. There is a small hill but nothing too strenuous. If you are looking to spend time on the beach then you'll have a 20 minute walk or a 5 minute taxi ride to Medano beach.
The other downside? Trying to get a reservation as this place is almost always full. But if you can swing it, the price is more than right, with rates starting at $135.
Vamos a La Playa! This week we are focusing on Mexican beach getaways. First up is Cabo San Lucas.
The Esperanza Resort. is located on Punta Ballena or Whale Point for you non-Spanish speaking travelers.
The resort offers whale-watching in the winter (now through March) and lots of fishing tournaments during the summer.
The accomodations are luxurious with 50 oceanview casitas and six luxury suites. There's also a spa and a yoga studio, an oceanfront pool, tons of water activities and even golf nearby.
Even better the hotel has rare tequila tasting events. If you don't drink, we heard the non-alcoholic drinks in the mini-bar were free. Totally worth the $550 a night for double rooms, right?
Okay so Cabo San Lucas is so yesterday's news. Sure, Brad and "sad" Jen went there for weekend retreats last winter, and the spring breakers invaded the place a couple months back, BUT now the crowd fog has cleared and we can go to Cabo again. TheHotel Twin Dolphin is there to welcome you with open arms, a summer deal, and quite the coastline.
Beginning June 1st and running through September 30th, the Hotel Twin Dolphin is offering a 4th night free special.Rates start at $235 a night.
Sure it may be a little hot to dream of beach vacations, but going against the grain is exactly what will nab you a great deal.
Anyone else here in the Northeast had just about enough of the cold, the snow, the blizzards, the winter advisories, and the shoveling? Here at HotelChatter headquarters we have decided that this snow stuff is pretty in photographs, but not in person, kinda like Britney Spears, or so we imagine. Anyway, the only thing that saves us from being institutionalized during a week of cabin fever is dreaming of far away, exotic locals.
Today's "Wish We Were There" is the Bungalows Hotel in Cabo San Lucas. Mexico always has a calming effect, and sure Cabo isn't exactly the most tranquil place on earth, but the Bungalows Hotel is off the beach, and a couple blocks away from the center of town. No smoking, and no meat at the Bungalows, so if you are a nicotine addicted carnivore your best bet might be to find different hotel. However, for those that want to treat themselves to a reasonably priced bungalow that serves fresh squeezed juice with breakfast, beside a saltwater pool, you might want to look into this unassuming hideaway.
Winter room rates will run you between $135-$155 a night, not bad at all.
