We’ve just talked about Thompson Hotels heading to Cabo (June 13 will see the opening of The Cape), but six weeks before that, One&Only Palmilla will come back, finally reopening on April 20 after recovering from the impact of Hurricane Odile.
Here is part of the statement from the hotel’s website:
The entire One&Only Palmilla team is looking forward to welcoming our guests back to the resort as of 20 April 2015. Hurricane Odile significantly impacted One&Only Palmilla and the entire area of Los Cabos. Our team is working hard to bring back our beloved resort and to delivering a true One&Only experience.
We would like to express our deepest gratitude for all of the supportive thoughts and generous contributions from friends, past guests, colleagues and business partners following Hurricane Odile's devastating impact. Through everyone's generosity we raised just over $216,000 including contributions from Kerzner International and other Kerzner-managed resorts. Funds have now been distributed to help One&Only Team Members rebuild their homes and their lives.
Today is National Tequila Day, one of our personal favorite holidays of the year--after National Margarita Day of course.
While many of you might be celebrating with some shots of Patron at a bar after work, down at the Las Ventanas Al Paraiso Resort, a Rosewood Resort in Los Cabos, Mexico, it's an all-out affair. Never mind that the National Tequila Day holiday only applies to the U.S.
Here's what Las Ventanas has on offer for those love the tequila:
Chocolate Covered Tequila Ice Cream
Tequila Sunrise Popsicles
But only mentioning these tequila specialties and posting pics of them would just be cruel. And we're not like that. Neither is Las Ventanas. The resort has graciously shared the recipe for each tequila treat below so every day can be tequila day. Salud!
Yesterday, we were stumped on where Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen were staying in Los Cabos, Mexico. We had thought it might have been the posh One & Only Palmilla yet we checked and the resort doesn't have a water slide.
But thanks to commenter Matt Foley we learned that Tom's bum was being tickled by the water slide at El Dorado Golf and Beach Club, a celeb favorite for a private (ok, somewhat private) getaway. The golf course also has a full bar every three holes at no extra charge. Tequila!

The pool at Las Ventanas. We declare it #winning.
The question that we’re chewing over as we chew over our oatmeal this morning: if you were embarking on a new affair with a sexy celeb, where would you take them for a night of passion?
In the red corner, we have Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez who, it turns out, spent the night before the Oscars shacked up with the cougars in a penthouse suite at the St. Regis Monarch Beach at Dana Point.
At the resort's spa bar, drinking margaritas, talking, smoking and nibbling on ceviche. When they finished, they left quietly and casually, but also hand in hand!
Every Valentine's Day, we're inundated with crazy hotel packages that would require a Real Housewives-sized budget (and aren't all that inventive). So this week, we're taking a look at affordable, but fun deals that us regular folks would book.
You know what's romantic? Somewhere warm with no snow, like Los Cabos. If you're looking to plan a special Valentine's Day getaway with your honey, you might want to show you care by upping sticks to celeb favorite One&Only Palmilla.

We’ve already told you about some of our favorite amenities at Cabo’s Las Ventanas al Paraiso, including their famous sorbet-scooping pool butlers, in-room aromatherapy, and the after-dinner bath experience, and we brought you an exclusive interview with their on-staff Director of Romance.
Today, we’re going to take you inside one of their Ocean View Terrace Junior Suites with this exclusive video walk-through and photo gallery.
Welcome to our regular feature, Pitch Your Hotel, where we let hoteliers, general managers and other hotel execs tell us on-camera what makes their hotels so different from all the rest. And believe us, the competition is fierce these days. So sit back, relax and listen to them explain why their hotels are worthy of your hard-earned dollars or rewards points.
Las Ventanas al Paraiso in Los Cabos has come up with some pretty awesome amenities over time—pool butlers who will bring you iPods and “Hot Type” books and afternoon sorbet; aromatherapy, after-dinner bath, and bed sheet menus for the guest suites; sewing kits that have been personalized to the palette of your wardrobe; a tequila welcome platter with various gourmet salts; protected sea turtle release; and, of course, our favorite: a Director of Romance on staff. File that under Cool Hotel Jobs.
After the contest, this Casita could be meticulously attended by the resort's new Casita Feng Shui Enhancer.
There's been a lot of talk lately about folks wanting to work in hotels but even if you aren't a gold medal Olympian, you can still find a hotel job that suits you. Namely, because you're the one who invented it.
The all-suite The Marquis Los Cabos Resort in Mexico has kicked off a fun new contest via its Facebook page, asking folks to submit their suggestions for "The World's Most Awesome Hotel Job." Coconut keeper, whale spotter, towel fluffer, margarita taster, massage tester, all of those would work.
Contest participants need to upload a one-minute video to the hotel's Facebook page detailing their "most awesome hotel job" suggestion. The catch is that the job description has to be beneficial to the resort's guests.
Hitting up the the One and Only Palmilla and worried that paparazzi might be trying to snap pictures of you and your friends (including Gerard Butler) celebrating your 41st birthday in bikinis?
Well if you're Jennifer Aniston, then you have nothing to worry about--the resort will pull out all the stops to ensure your privacy is safe.
SF Gate reports:
In an agreed TV interview with reporter Billy Bush, the actress pointed out the paparazzi boats out at sea, full of snappers who tried to get saucy shots of the star.
But resort staff, police and the local coast guard went beyond the call of duty to make sure the trip was a relaxing one.
She explains, "Our gang ... has been holding up these mirrors ... to sort of disrupt their photographs ... I think any guest who comes here would hope to have a little privacy. I think it's very nice."
When Stella went to go get her groove back, she jetted to a luxe-ish resort and dressed herself in cute linen-y, breezy outfits to look the part of upscale vacationer without a care in the world, looking gorgeous effortlessly. And while Stella went to go grab her lost groove in Montego Bay, we'd be down for hitting up a resort in North America and One&Only Palmilla in Los Cabos appeals to the Stella in us.
Here's why: 'cause we could win ourselves a Tory Burch wardrobe to wear while we're down there. Oh, and we can win a trip down there for free along with the Tory duds.
The deal: Every day, the resort is giving away a Tory Burch Summer Essential Kit with a beach towel, a cosmetics bag, a tote bag and flip flops; you can enter to win one of them every day until July 15th. You can enter that little giveaway here.
And when you enter to win the kit, you're automatically entered to win the Grand Prize: a $1200 Tory Burch Shopping Spree (which, let's be real, will probably only stretch as far as 2 or 3 outfits) and a Four-Night stay at the One&Only Palmilla which includes roundtrip airfare for two, dinner for two at hotel's new Market by Jean-Georges and two massages during your stay.
Or you could just take the trip and gift the wardrobe money to us. We could use some new pairs of ballet flats and some breezy tunics.
The school (and hotel) is right on Playa Acapulquito and manned by veteran surfer Mike Doyle. The surf lessons begin at $70 per person for group instruction and range from 1.5 to 2 hours. Private instruction is $95 per person. Those prices include board rentals, beach and water safety instructions, and rashguard use for the lessons.
Students are also asked to arrive 20-minutes early for the lesson to watch a 10-minute instructional video on surfing so you have some idea of what to expect when you hang 10.
Accommodations at the hotel are very chill and laid-back--remember this is a low-key beach hotel, not some five-star resort. Room categories range from a standard ocean room (two double beds) to a junior king villa. The rooms include free WiFi and in some of the larger ones, a kitchenette and jacuzzi. The hotel also has a spa, restaurant and pool on-site. Room rates start at around $265 a night.
Know of another hotel with a cool surfing package? Dish it out dude.

Today, Perez broke the news that Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag that's the fameball couple from The Hills best described as the dude-bro with the flesh-colored beard and that girl from that Lauren Conrad doesn't like have gotten married. Yes, Spencer apparently liked it enough to put a ring on it (and vice versa) and now they are wed.
Originally, the news hit the Internet that the nuptials had "just" gone down and the couple had eloped, but now we're hearing that the couple actually held the ceremony on November 20th and they were able to keep the wedding secret to sell the magical photos to Us Weekly, it seems.
The ceremony was held on the beach. And, it wasn't planned [...] There were no family members present for the ceremony, which lasted only 15 minutes.
Speidi joins the ranks of several significantly less annoying celeb couples to have their wedding festivities at the One & Only: Eli Manning got hitched here in April and Christina Aguilera chose the resort to host her bachelorette party before she married her hubby.
