Yes indeed. With a name like Cabbages and Condoms this resort in Thailand which houses the Birds and Bees Hotel, will never make it on any sappy "Baby Moon or "Conception Moon" hotels lists.

No, seriously, we're not joking. There is a Cabbages and Condoms restaurant in Pattaya and next door to it is the Birds and Bees resort. And as you can expect, the hotel and restaurant do worship the condom. It also promotes itself as family-friendly, which might not be so great. The Economist writes in a recent post about themed hotels:

As a family holiday venue, "Cabbages and Condoms" turned out to be much less unsuitable than we initially feared. On entering our room I was taken aback to find the walls tastefully adorned with murals of fish made from brightly coloured prophylactics.

Over at the restaurant, the table tops have condom art underneath a top glass.

Thailand Protests Apparently Not Affecting Hotel Stays in Pattaya

Judging by the headlines shouting about violent protests in Thailand and the danger to political leaders that forced the cancellation of the ASEAN Summit in Pattaya, you might feel inclined to stay away from the Royal Cliff Beach Resort where the Summit was due to be held. But the owners say that's not at all necessary.

Quick to put a halt to bad PR damage that this kind of event normally brings, the family owners of the Pattaya resort have already put a message online explaining that the protesters spent less than an hour at the hotel, no violent clashes took place there and no guests were affected. Well, apart from all those summit VIPs who were quickly whisked away and returned to their home countries.

The popular resort area of Pattaya is now trouble-free, with all the protests currently centered on Bangkok. The Royal Cliff Beach Resort rates really well according to recent guests, and apparently it was going to be good enough for all those Prime Ministers and Presidents.

Usual rates start from 6,400 Baht ($180) a night for a mini suite with a sea view. But if we were already in the Pattaya area we'd be dropping in to pick up a last-minute special — after all, they should suddenly have quite a few rooms free.

A Visit to the Sheraton Pattaya

View from the Wing recently took a trip to the Sheraton Pattaya in Thailand and took some extensive photos of the trip. And we mean, extensive, including photos of every meal eaten.

The hotel stay began when a resort rep showed up at the airport and whisked the guests away in a BMW M5 with "cold waters, packaged fresh wipes, magazines, and the day's Bangkok Post." Once at the hotel, the guests were checked into a Deluxe Pavillon room. The next day was busy with breakfast and spa appointments poolside. But you can read the play-by-play of the stay for yourself. We are getting right to the good stuff.

We thoroughly enjoyed our three days here. This has to be one of the best resorts in Thailand, surprisingly enough since it's branded a Sheraton. Service was outstanding, truly on par with anything I've experienced at a Four Seasons or Ritz-Carlton. It's an oasis within driving distance of Bangkok, no additional flight required, which makes it attractive, and it's far enough removed from Pattaya itself that it doesn't take on the character of one of the more unsavory parts of the country.

Since we know View from the Wing doesn't hand out many hotel compliments, you should take this one to heart.

Or if the name Sheraton still gives you heebie jeebies, then take a look at their other hotel reviews in Thailand.
