Brandy — of "Sittin' Up in My Room," "I Wanna Be Down," "The Boy is Mine," and, er, Moesha fame — is back! Besides lending her voice to a killer track on the newest John Legend album, she's also apparently releasing her own album in December. She's doing performances here and there to promote her record and generate some hype for herself since some bad publicity made her fall off the radar for a while.

And, natch, where does a singer go in order to generate hype? Why, she goes to the hotel hype machine to end all hype machines: Aloft.

Specifically, Aloft Philadelphia.

AndrewC spent a night at the Aloft Hotel near the Philadelphia airport with a bunch of his friends who don't obsess over geeky hotel things like the rest of us. Here's what they thought.

With Halloween around the corner, this weekend we went to the Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia with a bunch of friends and stayed over at the aloft Philadelphia Airport where we booked four rooms for a surprisingly low $109 each. It's worth mentioning that we did reserve the room before the Phillies made the World Series.

Since you've read our reviews of aloft hotels before, we thought we'd ask our non-hotel geek friends their thoughts on the stay. Our group was full of people who only stay in hotels once or twice a year and before this trip had never heard of aloft.

Starwood's attempt at world domination continues next Friday, August 8th, with the opening party for Aloft Philadelphia Airport. Just to make sure this debut gets all the attention it can, Starwood has brought out the big guns: an appearance by Philadelphia's own DJ Jazzy Jeff.

Really, how can you miss that? (Well, you will, if you haven't been invited.) Pennsylvania-born model Beth Ostrosky, P.A. Governor Edward Rendell and Philly Mayor Michael Nutter also are expected to attend.

If you're sick of hearing about Aloft Hotels already, too bad. Aloft will be opening its hotels rapid-fire throughout the summer and fall, including one near the Philadelphia airport which will open on September 8.

This is part of the company's overall plan to gussy up otherwise drab and dreary airport hotels into destinations unto themselves.

T.O.'s Philadelphia Airport Marriott Experience

Today, members of the NFL Players Union, Terrel Owens and Drew Rosenhaus are ensconced inside the Philadelphia Airport Marriott trying to decide what to do with T.O. for the rest of the NFL season.

Of course our interest here is that this whole thing is set at the Philadelphia Airport Marriott.

Not only does this hotel make T.O.'s flight into obscurity easy to catch, but the hotel is also "the best soundproofed airport hotel in the country", according to one recent guest:

I am always leery about staying at airport hotels because of the loud noises from the inbound and outbound planes. It usually means No Sleep! What an outstanding experience I had at the Philadelphia Marriott Airport. This is the only airport hotel (and it is in the airport) that is totally sound proof! You hear nothing....not even the people above, below or next to you or the other doors closing on your floor.

That means that other guests should be oblivious of the loud, whiny shouts of T.O. and his agent.

Nice.
