At behest and via the courtesy of the Netherlands Board of Tourism, HotelChatter is currently in Amsterdam reporting live on our trips, travels and travails. Enjoy.

During our stay at the Lloyd Hotel in Amsterdam, we were able to look in at pretty much every type of hotel room--ranging from one-star to five-star. The Lloyd is probably one of the only hotels to do this type of room categorizing based on size but just because a room is listed as a five-star don't expect the presidential suite.

This here is a shot of the famous Lloyd Hotel Eight Person Bed. The bed is located on the second level of Room 121. We say level instead of floor because it seems like the bathroom and the bed were made out of a balcony that overlooks the rest of the room.

We understand you can sleep eight people in this bed, but there's no way eight people can walk around the bed comfortably. We doubt you can even fit two people comfortably in the bathroom. We barely had enough room to stand back and snap this shot.

The room does have floor to ceiling windows, a gigantic red mirror, a grand piano and a table that can seat more than eight, making it the perfect room for business meetings.

And for Hugh Hefner and his bunnies of course.

More pics after the jump.

This is the view from our second room we were given at the Lloyd Hotel in Amsterdam after the one-star we "rested" in early yesterday morning. Room 604 is a pretty big three-star room overlooking the water. It looks pretty bleak but things are actually quite cheery here.

What's great about all the rooms on the sixth floor is that they are essentially the attic rooms with slanted wooden beams that provide a sort of rustic feel.

Also addding to the rustic feel is the cement floor. It's the original floor from 1921 and when the building was renovated into its reincarnation as the Lloyd Hotel in 2004, the owners decided to keep the floor as it was. So what that means is an old, bare cement floor running through the hallways and in the rooms. There's one rug but it's pretty tiny. Just to be sure, we cranked up the heat on the huge radiator which works very quickly.

The furnishings are minimalist to the max. There are two nightstands, one chair, a luggage rack and a simple desk and chair. All of these are without drawers, which is fine because we're not sure we even use drawers when we stay in other hotels.

HotelChatter has landed safely in Amsterdam early this morning and we were able to find our way to the Lloyd Hotel from the airport riding trains and trams without any problems, which is truly amazing.

Our room at the historic and quirky Lloyd isn't quite ready yet so they gave us one of the hotel's one-star rooms to rest in. The hotel has a variety of rooms ranging from one-star to five-star, which is basically a size category. These one-star rooms have no bathrooms--you have to share at the one at the end of the hall--and are pretty sparse, although we think fairly spacious. In fact, our room at the City Club in Manhattan was smaller.

This is the view from the one-star room 413. As you can see, it's not a pretty day in Amsterdam. But we'll make some fun of it for sure.

We'll update our hotel pics when we can here and report on what's happening in the city over on Jaunted, but we did forget one thing--that camera cord that hooks your digi camera to your computer so until we can find a replacement, we're stuck taking pics with our MacBook like we did with this one.

Lloyd Hotel is "Pink"-Worthy

Pink is the New Blog was one of the lucky bloggers to go to Amsterdam as part of the Bloggers in Amsterdam sponsored by Blogads.

The bloggers chosen were put up in either the Lloyd Hotel or the Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky. In exchange for the trip, all the bloggers have to do is give the Holland Tourism Site one free month of ads on their blogs and put the Bloggers in Amsterdam link on their site, as well as be interviewed by the Dutch tourism boards.

Think what you want we are just going to write about the hotels.

So PTNB is staying at the Lloyd and aside from this pink-dified picture, there's nothing much he has to report, except:

As soon as I arrived I was met by the Renate, the Marketing & Communication director for the hotel ... I was shown to my room and let me tell you ... it's amazing here! [A]nd Zita Swoon is playing an aftershow gig right here at the Lloyd Hotel tonight. I may have to check it. Our hotel is a bit removed from all the action but it's a nice new part of town so I'm not complaining.

This review is indeed a bit nicer than a recent guest gave:

There was no carpet on the floor just rough floorboards and a coir matting which meant you had to wear shoes all the time. Some other members of our party reported having showers and toilets in the middle of their bedrooms!

Hmm...interesting. Not that we are implying anything at all about this blogging adventure. If anyone else out there has been to Lloyd's let us know what you thought of the hotel.

Eight To A Bed At Lloyd's Hotel

Travel & Leisure's Stephen Whitlock reports on the Lloyd Hotel in Amsterdam, which he calls "a unique example of the Amsterdam School of Architecture," circa 1921.

What we like is that you get to stay at a property with classic old architecture on the outside, and clean modern lines inside. Old on the outside, young on the inside, kinda like Hugh Hefner don't you think?

The Lloyd contains 120 guest rooms designed by various designers, so no two are alike, however most have high ceilings, which is always nice.

Sounds like there is something for everyone, on the low end you can get a shared bathroom room for around $100. On the top end of the spectrum, you can grab a suite with a grand piano or a bed big enough for eight for around $400.

Wow. Eight to a bed, Hef would make good use of that bed.
