We are suckers for a room with a killer view.  We find that we are even more likely to forgive some minor hotel inconveniences if we can stare out the window at something pretty--yeah we are that shallow. Let's help out our fellow hotel mavens by uploading rooms with killer views to the HotelChatter/Flickr photo pool, or by sending the photo along to us. We will feature our favorites in this space from time to time. Remember to tell us the name of the hotel and the room number of the hot view.

We like to cater for all kinds of people here on HotelChatter and we've realised that not everybody thinks a Killer View is one of the ocean or a perfect infinity pool. Sure, most people think that way, but we've got a truly sports-mad friend who would definitely find this view out of the Mars Hotel in Prague much sexier than any body of water we could throw at them.

So if you love your sports too and think gazing out over a well-kept multi-purpose court and that triangle thing inside the track (is that for shot-put? We failed sports in school), this is your place. Even if it's not, it sure beats the more common Prague views of old buildings in mid-renovation or dirty alleyways that are usually hidden from the views of other tourists.

In ever-more-expensive Prague, the Mars has so far held on to fairly reasonable rates. In high season a double room will set you back €64 (US$100) which is not too bad in a city that keeps attracting more and more tourists each year.

Shanghai, Bangkok, Free WiFi.

What could these three words have to do with one another? Well, at the Shanghai Inn in Bangkok's Chinatown you can stay in "chic chinoise" (four poster beds and "jeweled-tone walls", so says NG Traveler) while accessing the hotel's free wireless internet. And for only $67 a night!

Of course, it sounds too good to be true and it is. Reviewers say the hotel is fun to look at but not to stay in. For starters, it seems the staff has some problems with their indoor voices:

The staff is incredibly loud: shouting, laughing, talking into walkie talkies, etc. The cleaners started pushing trolleys from 5 in the morning and made terrible noise with plastic bags. The receptionists speak very bad English. Normally, I find this charming, but this was just too much.

More complaints were about the noise within the hotel, not from staffers (although this reviewer mentioned that too):

The noise was incredible- showers, toilets, televisions, shouting, and even sex noises just to top it off. and it was ALL night followed by the cleaners with loud walkie talkies at 6am.

Should you stay here because the price is right and free WiFi is tempting, another past guest says don't book any rooms near the cafe or the front desk.

Our issues with Italian hotels always stemmed from reports we received from you guys. However, all of a sudden the Italian hotel buzz seems to be turning from hellish to damn good. Could Italian hotels be turing the corner? Remember to send us your best and worst hotel stories.]

Here's a social experiment:

Divide any Bangkok establishment into an AIDS wing and a non-AIDS wing.... if I were a betting man, I'd say one wing would be considerably more empty than the other, if not altogether a perfect vacuum.

Well, timing is everything and one Thai hotel played leper colonist on Sunday as 10,000 pariticpants swarmed the capital city for the 15th International AIDS Conference.

The AP reports that the Prince Palace Hotel in Bangkok told the forum's HIV-positive guests "to stay on one floor, asked them to eat in a separate area, and told cleaning staff to take precautions."

"It was like they were placed in a zoning area," said an AIDS advocacy group spokesman.

The hotel, deflecting blame, said it was merely protecting its guests and that organizers should not have invited visitors with AIDS in the first place.
