If you're still scoping out places to stay in Beijing for the Olympics, consider booking one of the 1,312 rooms at the massive, just-opened Marriott Beijing City Wall for a sweet opening rate of around $131 USD.

The hotel also joins the ranks of brand-spanking-new "mainstream" hotels that have opened as of late (or even received a refurbishment) in Beijing--just in time for the Olympics. We've mapped out a few of them for you here.

Good Rate: Park Plaza is Beijing's Hidden Hotel Gem

Fortunately,  not many hotels in Beijing are at the ridiculously expensive rates of say New York or Miami when Art Basel is in town, so finding a nice hotel for under $200 is doable. You can stay at all the chain hotels like Intercontinental, Hilton, Radisson, Swissotel or the Park Plaza's Beijing Wangfujing.

The hotel is a little over a year old with average room rates that start at about $124 and boast modern and luxury amenities. Here one traveler has the review that sums up what most other reviews about this place seem to say:

The hotel is on a strip with lots of other big hotels so the area is well known. However, the hotel is behind a business office tower, so it shields it from noise. We looked out our window to some water fountains below, very peaceful. Prb a $3 cab ride to the Forbidden City and Tienammen Square. The hotel can also get you reservations at almost any show or restaurant and have the tickets delivered that day to your door. Breakfast was good with lots of variety and included in the price.

The hotel also gets shout-outs for an excellent concierge, Nelson, but if you want a pool, you're out of luck.
