Hopefully, Beyonce Didn't Leave Revel Without Trying Out the Taco Truck

Beyonce did the folks at Revel Atlantic City a biiig favor last weekend by choosing the resort as the setting for her first post-baby performance. Thanks to her, Revel was able to capture a whole new audience that likely wouldn't have taken the time otherwise—like Michelle Obama and the girls, who were reportedly in attendance at the show.

A friend of ours who was lucky enough to score tickets said that while the singer indeed put on a stellar performance, another major highlight of the weekend actually took place outside Ovation Hall. Specifically, during a post-concert dinner at the Distrito Cantina food truck, which serves up freshly-prepared Mexican fast food. And according to our friend, the tacos alone were worth the trip.

Revel's HQ Nightclub Will Not Make The Big Opening Weekend

While Revel Atlantic City is just weeks away from its sold-out Grand Opening weekend (featuring Beyonce*) it looks like not everything will be up and running as initially promised.

When the hotel soft-opened on April 2, only a handful of restaurants and public areas were open. But the rest of the resort was set to be revealed over Memorial Day Weekend. Except according to @NYNightlife, Revel's massive four-level nightclub HQ Nightclub along with the HQ Beach Club is not going to make the MemWeekend party. Instead a July opening is looking more likely.

We got in touch with a rep for Angel Management Group, who is operating HQ, and she confirmed the club's opening delay.

Golden Nugget Atlantic City Will Make A Big Entrance On April 26

We've got Revel making its grand opening over Memorial Weekend with none other than Beyonce as the headlining performer (and how can you really do any better than that?), but other Atlantic City hotels and casinos refuse to go quietly into the night. We're now nearing the end result of a $150 million renovation project that has taken over the old Trump Marina Hotel Casino and re-made the place as a Golden Nugget.

Yes, this place has a long, aberrant history: built as a Hilton in the 80s, sold to Donald Trump and turned into a Trump Castle, and then re-named "Trump's Marina," it was finally bought by Landry's, who, when turning it into a Golden Nugget, took on the task of renovating not just the hotel portion but also the casino, marina and restaurants. Now, the finished resort is set to open at the end of the month (April 26-29), so what can we expect?

Finally We Get A Look Inside The Rooms and Public Spaces At Revel

Back in February when we attended a chef's tasting event for Revel, we were told by a rep from the design team that the casino would have a "theatrical" feel to it. And now we know exactly what he meant.

NJ.com released new photos yesterday of the pristine property, peeking a healthy mix of rooms, suites, public spaces, and, of course, the casino. And while we see some of the usual elements going on (rich colors, comfy chairs, densely packed rows of slot machines), there does seem to be something slightly more, er...grand—is that the word?—about this place than other casinos we've visited.

For a look at some of our favorite photos, see below!

The time has come...to book your hotel room for opening night at The Revel in Atlantic City.

We found rooms on April 2nd for $239 a night. That's for an Ocean Room with a king bed. Sure it might be pricey for AC during the week in off-season but these rooms look more cosmopolitan than boardwalk.

The style is a nice blend of masculine and feminine touches with plaid armchairs, towering headboards, neutral tones, frosted glass doors and floor to ceiling windows with views of the Atlantic Ocean.

The technology in the rooms is pretty stellar too with 46" flatscreen TVs and bedside tablets that control the temperature, curtains and lighting. It even has an attached handset so you can make calls down to room service or the spa.

Royal Jelly Nightclub Is On Its Way To Revel

Billing itself as the "next generation" of after-hours hotel entertainment, Royal Jelly will be one of two nightclubs opening inside the upcoming Revel, Atlantic City's brand spanking new multi-billion-dollar resort. So, what can we expect? Oh, the usual: burlesque dancers, flying catwalks, choreographed rock concerts, tuxedoed sax players, and pleeenty of feather boas and sparkling bikinis.

Judging from the promo video now up on their site, Royal Jelly aims to combine the hipness and exclusivity of a nightclub with the rock 'n roll-tinged brand of burlesque that is now the trademark of Ivan Kane, who will be running the show at Royal Jelly. Though don't expect to make an early night of it here: typically, shows will begin at 10pm every night, but an after hours (read: more fun) rock 'n roll burlesque performance won't get going until around 2am.

There's More At Revel To Get Excited About Than Just the Food

...actually, we take that back. We're pretty darn excited about the food here.

With just two months to go, the folks at Revel are working overtime to make sure everything is in place for a smooth soft opening next month. Construction briefly stalled in 2009 due to the economy, which in a way lends even more excitement now to the opening of Revel's 1,800 rooms, "theater-inspired" casino, two-acre outdoor SkyGarden, pool, spa, two nightclubs and over a dozen restaurants.

And though not all of the restaurant spaces have been finished yet, we were lucky enough to sample a few dishes from the resort's championing chefs—including Iron Chef winner Jose Garces, who will be opening not one but three restaurants inside the sprawling oceanfront resort. Oh, and his burgers? Awesome. After biting into one, we literally had to stand there motionless (with about seventy other diners swarming around us) until every last morsel had been devoured. And we don't even usually eat meat.

Revel in Atlantic City Will Open Hotel Reservations on March 5

Gamblers and Jersey Shore lovers alike rejoice! Revel, the crazysexycool-looking casino-hotel complex on the boardwalk in Atlantic City, has just announced today that it will open up reservations for its 1,800 hotel rooms and suites starting March 5. The hotel will then soft-open on April 2 with the hotel fully functional and seven restaurants open.

But come May 25 and Memorial Day Weekend, the unofficial start of summer for the Jersey Shore, all of Revel's restaurants, performance spaces, gaming, spa, nightlife and daylife will be open. And they sound freaking amazing, especially Revelry, located 61-feet above sea level and which will house restaurants, shops, nightclubs and a performance space for 700. Revel will also open a theater with a capacity for 5,500 people on The Mezz level (87 feet above sea level) and we're betting the InOut Pool which begins inside near the lobby and flows outside, will be a big hit.

An Iron Chef Signs On To Revel In Atlantic City

Still planning for a May 2012 opening, Atlantic City's newest hotel, Revel, will be recruiting the services of Iron Chef winner Jose Garces for several of its dining options. Having successfully launched three restaurants inside the recently-opened JDV's The Saguaro (including a coffee take-out counter), Garces is introducing another trilogy into the 47-floor, ocean-facing tower.

A tapas bar (Amada), a whiskey bar (Village Whiskey), and a margarita bar with Mexican street food (Distrito Cantina) will help jazz up the AC scene this spring, along with the hotel's dozen other restaurants, three nightclubs, shopping mall, spa, two theaters and (of course) casino.

Garces, who has been selected as the hotel's "gastronomic cornerstone," lives on a 40-acre Pennsylvania farm with his wife and kids in Bucks County—just a quick two-hour drive from the hotel. Maybe if we're lucky, he'll be trucking over some home-grown cabbage and tomatoes for those Distrito Cantina tacos!

Don't Play Your Scratch-Off In The Shower At The Water Club

Last week, we gave you a peek inside the indoor pools at Atlantic City's The Water Club at the Borgata. Well, continuing with the theme of...water, today we're going inside one of the bathrooms.

And what goes hand in hand with a sexy bathroom in Atlantic City? A hotel sex kit! Or, as The Water Club likes to call them, "Passion Kits," which include everything from condoms to lube to mints to massage oil to "lover's scratch off games." That last one isn't something we normally associate with steamy hotel room hook-ups, but then again, we never say no to a free scratch-off.

Just remember not to take it into the shower with you—a soggy winning ticket won't be of much use!

The Water Club's Rooftop Jacuzzi Got Us Up At 6am On A Sunday

Few things get us out of bed early on the weekend. Save for a delicious brunch outing, or perhaps an early morning flight, we generally like to lounge around in our sweats and slowly wake up. Which is exactly what we got to do after a heavy night of partying down at The Water Club At The Borgata.

Rising at 6am on Sunday morning, we hopped up to the hotel's rooftop pool, and—minus the old guy doing laps by himself—had the entire 80 foot pool and side jacuzzi to ourselves for a solid two hours.
