A. K. Sandoval-Strausz is the author of Hotel: An American History about the history of the hotel in America---a saga in which politicians and prostitutes, tourists and tramps, conventioneers and confidence men, celebrities and salesmen all rub elbows. He is also an assistant professor of history at the University of New Mexico.
