Vegas for Valentine's Day for Under $200
| February 13, 2009 at 12:01 PM | 0 Comments

Yes, we swore off V-day packages here on HotelChatter but we promise this story does not involve champagne, chocolate-covered strawberries and massage oil.
A friend of ours recently wanted to surprise his wife with a getaway to Las Vegas for Valentine's Day. We started to help him look for good deals but it turns out Vegas is actually pretty sold-out this Saturday. A cursory look at Expedia today does show some availability but at steep rates: Wynn is for $879; Venetian for $499 and the Stratosphere--which offers rooms for $25 during the week--is going for $279 a night.
So how can you do Vegas for V-day on the cheap? The Answer? Stay on Sunday night.

Our Last Post About Valentine's Day Hotels
| January 23, 2009 at 12:31 PM | 1 Comment

For some reason this year, hotels are going crazy with creating Valentine's Day Packages. Perhaps they are frantic about the waning economy and figure if you must spend money in these tough times it might as well be to please your wife. Or husband. Or lover. Or escort.
Whomever you are spending Valentine's Day with, hotels want you to spend this romantic day with them. The only problem is we're getting overloaded with Valentine's Day packages and most of them are pretty routine. We've tried to highlight the most unusual ones---strip poker sets in room, creepy love story writers, tent pitching and so forth--but we're actually getting pretty tired of photoshopping bright pink hearts onto photos.
So, this is our last post on Valentine's Day Hotels for 2009. And we're going out with a bang. After the jump, we've listed 10 Valentine's Day hotel packages that have caught our eye. Read 'em and get frisky.
If you would like your hotel's Valentine's Day special featured on HotelChatter, then you can simply join our site and become a member. That way you can post your love special in the comments below this story.

London's Swissôtel Will Write Down Your Love Story
| January 23, 2009 at 11:37 AM | 0 Comments

We were wondering when a Valentine’s offer to trump playing Twister or strip poker with your inamorato would come up, and here it is--London’s Swissôtel The Howard is employing a “professional storyteller” to commit to print the story of how you met your beloved.
You’ll also get a six-course dinner of aphrodisiacs including scallops, chocolate fondue and, um, cucumber. Then you’ll retire to your river-view suite, overlooking the London Eye and the Houses of Parliament, and sink champagne and strawberries with your story.
Let’s just hope that, whatever a “professional storyteller” is, it means he/she can turn “He bought me five shots at Happy Hour” into something beautiful. Especially when the package rolls in at £799 ($1085) for the night.

La Perla's Latest Lingerie Photos Take Place at The Greenwich Hotel
| January 23, 2009 at 10:45 AM | 0 Comments
While the Cooper Square Hotel appears to be doing lingerie shoots in front of street-facing windows in undies and tank tops, The Greenwich Hotel is on a different block doing something somewhat similar away from the windows with $250.00 thongs, $400.00 teddies and an ad campaign that encourages women to spend too much money on their dudes.
Behold this image from a La Perla photoshoot at Robert De Niro's Greenwich Hotel. According to Luxist, the Italian upscale lingerie line has launched a collection of Valentine's Day gifties, and suggests women start planning a romp in the sheets at a particular NYC boutique hotel:
"The La Perla woman makes the effort, but makes things look effortless. For Valentine's Day she wants to look her best and makes sure she takes care of her man. On Valentine's Day, she reserves a suite at the Greenwich Hotel, complete with a view of the New York harbor and a cozy fireplace. She buys several sets of La Perla lingerie, and takes her time to prepare so everything is just so. She then awaits for her man's arrival and presents the ultimate Valentine's gift - herself.
Well, at least it's not another roses-and-chocolates Valentine's Day package. And hey, you can look at it a different way:
· Expensive Lingerie Ensemble: $450.00
· Room at the Greenwich on February 14th: $475+
· The jewelry you'll be getting for your anniversary because you totally made your dude feel bad that you did so much for him on V-Day (even though you totally just got the idea from an ad): Priceless.

Pitch a Tent on Valentine's Day in Morocco
| January 23, 2009 at 10:06 AM | 3 Comments

Marrakesh's exclusive Le Palais Rhoul is offering a romantic getaway package that eclipses (supposedly) exclusive dinner reservations at hotspots like Nobu or Tao. Boutique Souk, a specialized travel service in Morocco, has designed a Moroccan love package at the hotel in their six luxury tents set up in their backyard at Palace Gardens (there are proper rooms here too.)
For just £1260 or roughly $1,866.90, they're offering three nights of pampered tent love for couples vying for some authentic lux. Included in the package is a hamman spa experience where you lay on hot tiles and your massage therapist exfoliates you with Moroccan black soap and someone else rubs you down with Argan oils.
Take advantage of that 24-hour "tent service"(get it, like, room service) with yummy plates of tajines and organic salads to devour with just a bong of your tent-side gong. Tents at Le Palais Rhoul have all the amenities you would never get camping, but will probably ignore come Valentine's night. (Cuz you'll be screaming "inshallah, baby" in the name of love!)
Tents have fireplaces, plasma TV's, DVD collections and lucky lovers get private massage tables. The bathroom alone is super spiffy with a fireplace and a wooden elephant head hook to slip off your robes for some romance. Think of those caidal tents that nobleman and their court rocked in the photos of your old history books. The coolest item in the tent suites still, however, has to be the gong.
Do use it sparingly. Remember, it's only fun and funny to the person banging the gong.

Affinia Hotels Want You To Play Out Your "Friskiest Fantasies"
Where: United States| January 22, 2009 at 9:10 AM | 2 Comments

This Valentine’s Day, Affinia’s getting freaky. But in a fun way! At locations in New York, Chicago, and D.C., the boutique hotel chain known for “customized comforts” (rubber duckies, cupcakes) has some sexy amenities that would surely make Charlie Brown blush if he were ever to finally shack up with that elusive little redhead.
Their new “Naughty and Nice” romance package — designed of course for a V-Day escape but available through 2009 — includes a split of Champagne (classy), rose-petal turn-down service (cheesy), a romantic in-room movie (meh), a box of Jacques Torres hand-made chocolates (yes, please), and last but certainly not least, an Agent Provocateur Strip Poker set (oh, lordy). Oh yeah, and late checkout, which is always nice but even more welcome after a particularly, uh, active evening.
Plus, guests have advance access to an e-concierge who can arrange romantic extras, from in-room spa treatments to sight-seeing excursions “and more.” (Is it just us, or does that “and more” seems loaded with all sorts of unspoken intentions?)
But where it really gets freaky is a line from the press release, which says Affinia Hotels “invites guests to play out their friskiest fantasies.” So maybe keep that in mind if you’re planning to stay at an Affinia for a non-XXX getaway. Things could get a little uncomfortable, is all we’re saying.
Prices start at $189 in Washington, D.C., $209 in Chicago, and $289 in New York.

This Baltic Beach Hotel Is For Real and In the Mood for Love
| January 21, 2009 at 9:18 AM | 0 Comments

All Latvians know that the place to have a seaside holiday is the resort town of Jurmala, stretching along the coast just half an hour away from the capital, Riga. Even Brezhnev and Khrushchev thought it was the place to be, back in the day.
Our pick for a cool place to stay on the Latvian coast is the architecturally challenging Baltic Beach Hotel, not least of all because it looks like it could topple over at any second. In fact, we weren't even quite sure if it was still open. Yet it's been standing long enough now that we feel pretty comfortable with the construction so perhaps we could be brave enough to request a room smack bang in the middle of that overhanging bit.
Recent guests to the Baltic Beach Hotel have a lot of mixed opinions on the place. Some name it a relaxing spa hotel, and one of the few in the Jurmala region to be right on the beach; others complain that there are barely any sea views, and that service is stuck back in the Soviet era.
We still think it's unique enough to deserve at least a short stay--perhaps the "Cupidon's Touch" package, with the Valentine's Day season starting up? For 99 Lats ($180), "Cupidon" gives you one night in a sea view room, breakfast, a spa program and best of all, a "Romantic date with surprise in Spa café Angels Garden." We're itching to know what the surprise is.

"Bring Sexy Back" at the Borgata
| January 20, 2009 at 3:03 PM | 0 Comments
Valentine's Day is a big business for hotels around the world, and Atlantic City is betting that romantics without passports will hope the new ACE train straight down to their rose petal-strewn suites. Leading the pack is The Borgata Hotel and Casino, with two packages in the four-digit price range.
Breaking the bank at $3,000 for one night in The Borgata's Water Club Hideaway Suite is the "Immerse & Indulge" deal. Since you'll probably be doing very little sleeping, the deal includes $400 in spa credit, VIP check-in, late check-out, an in-room trio of aphrodisiacs and champagne, and a complimentary "Passion Kit," whatever that is. If you're focus is more on fun than romantic connection, then perhaps go with the cheaper $2,000 "Bring Sexy Back" package, including the special check-in and check-out but toning down the spa credit to $250 and the edibles to only chocolates, strawberries and champagne.
For those who are happy to tote their own goodies from the grocery store and give each other free backrubs, The Borgata still has regular king rooms on Valentine's Day starting at $399. Book now by calling 1-866-MYBORGATA.

"Naughty" Love Packages at Miramonte Resort and Spa
| January 19, 2009 at 3:59 PM | 0 Comments

Let's face it. When it comes to romance packages, chocolate-covered strawberries and champange just won't cut it anymore. Hotels need to get creative in wooing us to their establishments for some romantical downtime. Which is why the "amorous indulgences" at the Miramonte Resort & Spa outside Palm Springs, Calif. caught our eye.
The resort has designated the entire month of February as the "28 Days of Love" and a "naughty" package has been put together in honor of this month of love.
The NaughtyWELL packages gives lovers room accommodations, a 60-minute couples massage with custom chocolate body butter at the resort's WELL spa, the use of a private poolside cabana, a 30-minute Naughty bath experience (more on that), breakfast in bed and a 2pm late check-out. The cost is $454 for one night and $908 for two nights, plus taxes.
Obviously, what stands out the most here is the Naughty bath which is strewn with rose petals and lit with candles made of oil, not wax. The candle oil can then be poured on your bath partner's body and used as a massage oil. Yup. Now, we're blushing.

The Curtis Hotel's Got You Looking So "Crazy In Love"
| January 15, 2009 at 11:24 AM | 0 Comments

Forget the clichéd champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries packages offered by hotels for Valentine's Day. The Curtis has left it up to you to decide whether your Valentine's Day will be classy or kinky.
With the Denver-based hotel's "Crazy in Love" package, you can seduce your honey with a bottle of wine or shots at the hotel restaurant. Once you're both good and drunk, head on up to your room where you'll find a game of Twister on your bed and a rose petal turndown. [Ed. Note: Shots and Twister? We likey!]
The package starts at $169 per night and is available throughout February. We only wish our chances of drunken Twister-induced sex were as readily available.

Kimpton Wants You to Rub the One You're With On Valentine's Day
| January 12, 2009 at 4:50 PM | 0 Comments
We don't know who came up with the name of this package, but we're pretty sure our mothers would not be interested in booking it over the phone or ever saying this out loud: Kimpton's "Rub the One You're With" package just kind of, er, rubs us the wrong way. Or in the wrong place, if you will.
But! In any case, Kimpton Hotels across the country are offering this lovely package just in time for Valentine's Day for stays February 1st through March 31. We suggest booking this if oiling up at the Renaissance Chancery Court piqued your interest but you lacked the dedication to travel across the pond to learn how to massage your lovah.

Oiling Up for Valentine's Day at the Renaissance Chancery Court
| January 12, 2009 at 3:07 PM | 0 Comments

Awkward fumbling without hitting the spot, unexpected oil slicks...the art of massaging your loved one can be a tricky one to master.
So Londoners will be flocking to the Renaissance Chancery Court Hotel this February, in a bid to spruce up their prodding skills before V-Day comes around. In response to pleas from guests “who have found their partner’s massage strokes to be less than perfect”, the spa is offering a Massage Master Class treatment for couples. At $456 for 1hr 50mins, it’s for serious investors only.
They’ll start you off with a lesson, followed by a DIY session to “ensure that the couple become masterful in massage technique”. Sexy! Then they’ll calm the pair of you down with a professional rubdown, and send you off with some ESPA oils to get cracking at home. All they need now is to knock up some special room rates for those who just can’t wait – otherwise there might be trouble in the relaxation room....
