Thompson Hotels is Now Part of The TopGuest Crew

Thompson Toronto
Just a few weeks ago, we were trying to make some sense out of the TopGuest social media rewards program. While we liked the idea of a program that rewards us for our social media activity at hotels, TopGuest became hard to keep up with.
TopGuest founder Geoffrey Lewis did a comment to HotelChatter detailing some updates to the program that should clear up some of the confusion and we're now checking them out.
Yet even as we continue to mull this program over, TopGuest is still going gangbusters on attracting new partners. The latest to join the fray--Thompson Hotels.
After you download the TopGuest iPhone or Android app (and of course, register for a free TopGuest membership), you can earn 15 percent off at any Thompson Hotel after five Facebook or Foursquare check-ins. Not too bad, especially if you frequent the many bars and restaurants of Thompson Hotels in LA, NYC, DC, Toronto and Chicago.

To TopGuest or Not To TopGuest? That Is The Hotel Loyalty Question
How awesome would it be to get loyalty program points just for visiting a hotellike dining at its restaurant, grabbing a beer at the bar or just meeting in its lobbyinstead of only for the time you actually sleep there?
Put very simply, that's the concept behind the social media loyalty program TopGuest, which tracks your Foursquare and Facebook Places check-ins and awards you points when you stop by hotels under their program. It's an excellent, novel idea, but is it worth paying attention to?
TopGuest launched exclusively with Standard Hotels over the summer, and they quickly picked up further partnerships with the Soho Grand/Tribeca Grand Hotels, Viceroy Hotels and many others, even Holiday Inn. Check out the current full list in the image above (with a bonus of Virgin America and Avis thrown in). Now, we feel like we have a pretty well-rounded social life, and yet we haven't yet earned any rewards. What's up with that?

Topguest Members Can Now Get Perks for Checking In at Viceroy Hotels

When Topguest launched earlier this summer we were excited by a hotel loyalty program that would award guests points based on their social media activity from Twitter, Gowalla and Foursquare. But the only problem was, the hotels in Topguest's program were limited to the Standard chain and a few independent properties in New York.
Then last month, Topguest announced a new partnership with IHG Hotels and their Priority Rewards Club, which certainly opened up the program. And now today, we learn that Topguest has also snagged Viceroy Hotels to be in their program.

Priority Club Members can Earn Loyalty Points through TopGuest
Visit Hotel Indigo's lobby to score some Priority Club points.
Priority Club members have another way to rack up loyalty points: sign up for TopGuest. When you check into an InterContinental Hotels Group property using a location-based service like Foursquare, you will receive 50 Priority Club points. So you can take in points without even staying overnight at a hotel.
TopGuest syncs location-based services like Foursquare, Twitter and Gowalla, so that when you do a GPS check-in into a partner hotel, you can easily collect points for free stays and other perks.

TopGuest Program Continues to Grow as Soho Grand and Tribeca Grand Join In
TopGuest. We can guarantee that you'll be hearing about this hotel loyalty program as they gain partners, and now they've expanded beyond Standard Hotels to tap the Soho Grand Hotel and the Tribeca Grand for exclusive deals.
We've tried to explain the TopGuest loyalty program beforecheck that out herebut there's really nothing else quite like it right now. By syncing your various location-aware social media accounts (Foursquare, Gowalla, Loopt, Yelp, etc...) to TopGuest, you can collect points based on your check-ins to redeem for free stays, spa treatments and Apple products.

TopGuest Gets Down at The Top of The Standard, But What is TopGuest?
Have you heard of TopGuest.com? Probably not, but very soon you will likely be absorbed in it, as it enters onto the scene as a kind of social media loyalty program. The gist is thus: you sync your various accounts (Foursquare, Twitter, Facebook, Gowalla, Yelp, Loopt or Google Latitude) with TopGuest, and based on where you check in, you're rewarded with free points towards discounts on future hotel stays and more travel perks.
The site doesn't plan to go big until next month, but they threw a launch party last night at the pool bar at The Top of the The Standard, perfectly during Internet Week. We watched while two NYU-age girls dared strip to their bikinis and dip in the pool while others simply swilled their "Barefoot Dancer" cocktails and drank in the city views. There were no speeches or presentations about TopGuest because, as it always is with The Top of The Standard, everyone up there was already in the know.
