Tablet Hotels Has Your Tickets to the Oscar de la Renta Runway Show

January 6, 2012 at 4:15 PM | by | Comments (0)

It's crazy, we know, but it's already time to plan for New York Fashion Week. The good news is that this upcoming NYFW is our personal favorite, since it's the fall/winter collections (layering, deep colors!) and it won't be hot and steamy outside as it usually is during the September shows.

If you've always wanted to attend a Fashion Week runway show as an invited guest, now is your chance. Via a Tablet Hotels contest in partnership with Oscar de la Renta, you could be headed to NYC for 5 nights at the Tribeca Grand and seats at the OdlR show.

Hotels to Follow Right Now on Instagram

December 27, 2011 at 5:31 PM | by | Comments (0)

Know what's crazy boring and frustrating? Trying to decide whether or not to stay at a hotel by looking at their tiny, staged room photos on a website. This is why we do our best to get in and give you some massive photo galleries to flip through, but now hotels are taking it upon themselves to get creative by using the iPhone photo sharing app Instagram.

To put it plainly, Instagram allows its users to post their own shots (most taken on the fly, via iPhone) applied (or not) with filters to jazz it up the visual oomph. The community is crawling with design, travel, architecture, photography and foodie geeks, which makes it a perfect place to show off your property if you're a hotel.

We've recently joined Instagram ourselves (search hotelchatter & jaunted in the app to find our photostreams) and we're sharing original snaps from our own hotel stays. Still, we searched to find the hotel accounts on Instagram to follow right now:

Around the Penthouse Suites and More of The Metropolitan Bangkok

Go To The Hotel's Web
Site Where: South Sathorn Road, Bangkok, Thailand, 10120
October 5, 2011 at 4:24 PM | by | Comments (0)

It's hot in Bangkok, and often unbearably humid. The Metropolitan Bangkok knows this, which is why there are refresher towels waiting just inside the entrance to the lobby. Which is why there's an expansive indoor fitness facility complete with his and hers spa hottubs. Which is why there's a resort-quality outdoor swimming pool. Bangkok's urban tropical environment mean that guests at The Metropolitan are here for a multitude of reasons, from business to a getaway.

We were there as your usual tourists to Thailand, taking in every bit of the place and we've already shown you our Metropolitan room, but we also managed a peek into the Penthouse and COMO Suites while we were at it.

Inside a Metropolitan Room at The Metropolitan Bangkok

Go To The Hotel's Web
Site Where: South Sathorn Road, Bangkok, Thailand, 10120

So everyone who's everyone knows The Metropolitan London and its modern interiors, members-only Met Bar and prime location, but do you know it's got a sister site in The Metropolitan Bangkok? It's true; there's a sleek white hotel sitting a little off bustling Sathorn Road that also lights the logo of The Metropolitan, and it's just as cool, just as comfortable with two huge differences.

Big difference number one: this Metropolitan is a world away from London in Bangkok, and you'll know it through Thai elements in the rooms and an award-winning Thai restaurant, called nahm, which serves things like durian ice cream.

Big difference number two: the room rates are very affordable, but of course this is because we're talking Bangkok versus London here. We stayed for two nights via the Tablet Hotels private sale for $91 per night.

The Viceroy Bali is Now On Sale at Tablet Hotels (But It's Not a Viceroy Hotel)

Go To The Hotel's Web
Site Where: Jin Lanyahan, Ubud, Bali, Indonesia
September 20, 2010 at 12:19 PM | by | Comments (0)

We keep pretty good tabs on Viceroy Hotels but we were stunned today when we opened our weekly Tablet Hotels private sale newsletter to see The Viceroy Bali was on sale through December, starting at $292 a night for a garden view villa.

Just as we were getting all worked up about this (how could we not have known about Viceroy Bali? @&#*@!!), the Tablet description essentially handed us a brown paper bag to blow into:

No relation, apparently, to any other Viceroy, in Los Angeles or anywhere else — the Viceroy Bali is a one-off, a family-owned hotel, a rarity at the high end of the resort market. The location is increasingly familiar, as more travelers discover the charms of inland Bali — the Viceroy is minutes from Ubud, high on a hillside overlooking the lush (and steep) Lembah Valley.

The Tablet Shop is So-So But TabletStyle is Fierce

February 24, 2010 at 11:06 AM | by | Comments (0)

These days, it seems every hotel has to have an online shop. Heck, you don't even have to be a hotel to have an online shop. You can even be a luxury and design hotel booking site like Tablet Hotels to have an online shop.

Browsing through the Tablet Shop, initially, we were underwhelmed. There were some rather predictable items for sale--European spa products, way too expensive luggage, luggage tags, sleep masks and the like. We were only mildly interested in the hotel brochures (created by Tablet) that were free for download.

What's Inside Tablet's Private Sale?

January 8, 2010 at 12:03 PM | by | Comments (0)

While we've been obsessing over the new flash sales at the invite-only JetSetter, we got word this week that the original haute booking site,Tablet Hotels, was conducting its own Private Sale for its Tablet Members and their friends (Friends must be invited by the member.)

The sales are offered once a week on Tuesdays at 10am EST and only lasts until Thursday 5pm EST. However, Tablet Plus members get priority access to the sale on Mondays as part of their annual $195 membership fee.

The next sale starts on Tuesday, January 12 and a preview of it shows that the following hotels will be on the list:
· Hotel Healdsburg
· The Sanderson
· The Standard NYC
· The Augustine (Prague)
· La Perouse (Côte d’Azur)

These hotels are expected to be listed for as much as 40 percent off and the sale does include weekends, although there are some dates that are unavailable. We'll keep you posted on what we find on Tuesday.

Has anyone tried the Tablet Private Sale yet? If so, what sort of bargains did you score? Let us know in comments below.

We Go Comparison Shopping On Jetsetter.com

December 21, 2009 at 4:39 PM | by | Comments (0)

Wanna join Jetsetter.com? You're in luck! HotelChatter has a special invite link for you precious readers. Go here to register for Jetsetter.com. Happy deal hunting!

Here at HotelChatter and Jaunted, we have been quite enthralled Jetsetter, an invite-only luxury travel deals site. We once described it as sample sale site for luxury travel. Not that this world is short of internet deals site but we were piqued by the idea of a site that catered solely to cool, luxury hotels--you know, the kinds we often write about here.

Then today, we received an early Christmas present from one of our friends inviting us to join Jetsetter.com and as a holiday bonus, we would automatically get a $50 credit in our account to put towards booking travel on JetSetter.com.

Nothing spurs us to try new things than some travel credits so we decided to put JetSetter's hotel sales to the test.

If You Consider The Soho House For $625 To Be a Good Deal...

April 28, 2009 at 5:10 PM | by | Comments (2)

...then you'll like this new deal feature from Tablet Hotels.

We've always loved the selection of hotels offered via Tablet Hotels, and we were excited to peruse their newest Last Minute options in hopes of scoring "exclusive access to rock-bottom rates only available for the next 7-14 days."

We first started off with NYC and found that Gild Hall had rooms for as low as $129 this Sunday. That's great news! But rooms at The Soho House were going for $625 for tomorrow and Thursday night, down from $950. Not good news at all.

The last-minute options on Tablet were only available for a handful of properties across eight cities: Buenos Aires, Florence, Los Angeles, New York, Paris, Rome, Washington DC and Miami. The cool thing is you can see what the rates will be like for the next 7-14 days, a tool not usually found on other booking sites. Now if only some of those prices could come down.

Tablet Gently Ushers You Into the World of Soft Openings

February 24, 2009 at 10:04 AM | by | Comments (2)

We've been telling you for ages now that stalking an upcoming hotel to find out about its soft opening — that is, that shaky period when the hotel opens its doors before every part of the hotel is up and running and fully functional — can score you a killer opening rate and a chance to check out the place early. You've gotta be brave, though: most of the time, not all public spaces are ready to go, sometimes the kitchens aren't up and running, and some amenities may be missing.

Now Tablet Hotels is telling you the same thing — albeit a little bit late (but we'll get to that part in a minute).

Opa! J. Crew and Tablet Hotels Giving Away a Greek Vacay

Where: Santorini, Greece
February 17, 2009 at 9:47 AM | by | Comments (2)

If you fail to see a connection between prepster-outfitter J. Crew and the country of Greece, pause for a moment and think of this: White. Linen. Pants.

You're on a balcony in Santorini; the wind's in your hair as you gaze out onto the sparkling sea... while you're wearing a royal blue shirt and white linen pants from J. Crew, naturally. Or a white cotton sundress and a big floppy hat, even! Forget the cashmere, cardigans and suiting of the Connecticut-country-club J. Crew you're thinking of; J. Crew is also known for their killer beachwear.

And, appropriately, they're teaming up with Tablet Hotels to give you some of that beachy stuff — plus the opportunity to wear it on your hotel balcony in Santorini. One lucky (seriously, seriously lucky) winner will receive a $2,000 J.Crew gift card, round-trip airfare for two to Greece and a 5-night stay at the ultra-luxe Tsitouras Collection Hotel in Santorini.

You can put yourself in the running for the sweepstakes here, though it's only open to residents U.S. and Canada and, um, only one person wins the grand prize and a lot of people will probably enter. But! They're also giving away those cute J. Crew metallic passport covers every day, so you can always shoot for one of those.

[UPDATE]: There seems to have been some confusion about whether Canadian residents could enter the contest or not. Sadly for our friends up North, the official word from Tablet: "The Sweepstakes is not open to Canadians - we apologize for any confusion."
