SLS South Beach's Secret Weapon: The Front Terrace
Much of the hype around the SLS South Beach has been over the food truck or the Kravitz Design Inc-ified bungalow by the pool. But there's one other aspect of the new hotel that sbe founder Sam Nazarian is pretty excited about--the front terrace.
Here's what Nazarian told us about the space that is still shaping up along Collins Avenue:

It's no secret that we're psyched for the upcoming June opening of SLS South Beach. As June 14 gets closer (and we hear rumors that the hotel will soft open even sooner), details of the room decor is starting to trickle out. But what's the official line?

Here's What You Can Expect to Find in SLS South Beach's Pink Bathrooms
Just in time for the opening of SLS South Beach with their pretty pink bathrooms, sbe has unveiled their Ciel Spa toiletry line which will now be found in all sbe hotels (SLS at Beverly Hills, The Redbury and the Four Points by Sheraton at LAX).
Named after the SLS spa, the Ciel line includes shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body lotion and two soaps, all in stylish black packaging. It's a win-win for everyone--the guest gets some cool-looking, non-anonymous bath toiletries (especially the folks at the airport hotel) while the spa gets non-stop advertising.

The SLS Las Vegas is Definitely Happening Now
It's been nearly a year since the Sahara Las Vegas closed its doors to make way for the forthcoming SLS Hotel but after the high drama of closing day, not much has happened on the hotel grounds since.
No construction, no renovations, no nothing (except for city approval of the renovation plans back in November.) As you can see from this picture, which we snapped yesterday, the property is completely dead.
Yet today with the announcement that SLS parent company, SBE has secured a $300 million round of financing from Stockbridge Capital, LLC, we bet bulldozers and scaffolding will appear mighty quick. Here's a little summary of what to expect from the anticipated SLS Las Vegas:

SBE Doubles Down With Two Hydes in Miami
Clearly, American Airlines Arena was feeling left out: Sun Life Stadium has an offshoot of the Fontainebleau's LIV and the new Marlins Ballpark has a Clevelander bar. So, which hotel jumped in to complete the hotel-nightclub-inside-a-Miami-stadium triumvirate?
That would be the The SLS Hotel at South Beach, which will launch a Hyde club inside the home of the Heat. They're no strangers to stadium-clubs, with a Hyde in the Staples Center. You can read all about what to expect in downtown Miami all over the Internet--but we want to know is: what about Hyde Beach at SLS South Beach? What's the story there?

Rezzies Now Open at SLS South Beach, From $325 a Night
Hmm, perhaps May 8 is not the official opening day for The SLS Hotel at South Beach, after all.
Reservations are now open at the hotel's website and the first date you can book is June 14.
Perhaps there'll be a soft opening before that -- or maybe it will even open earlier than what the system is currently showing (as we hear may happen with NYC's NoMad Hotel.)

Showering at SLS South Beach Will Make You Pretty in Pink
With the opening of The SLS Hotel at South Beach coming up in April, we're officially in stalking mode.
Don't worry, we're not creeping around the construction site, a bunch of roses and unrequited love notes in hand. But we are checking out the hotel's website and Facebook page religiously, anxiously awaiting any new crumb of a detail or sneak peek of what's to come in one of the most anticipated hotels of the year.
This week, our devotion was rewarded: look at the pretty-in-pink renderings of the guest bathrooms that were just posted!

Katsuya to Open at the Andaz San Diego Early Next Year
Aside from sexy bondage guestrooms and a chance to see a ginger prince partying, the Andaz San Diego will now offer guests a veritable sushi hotspot from Katsuya.
The celeb fave sushi restaurant from Master Sushi Chef Katsuya Uechi will open early next year in a 6,000-sq.ft. indoor-outdoor lobby space and will be the hotel's signature restaurant. (It will replace the hotel's current restaurant, the Quarter Kitchen.)
The interiors will be designed by Philippe Starck and promise "an alluring ambiance that represents a chic and casual celebration of food and drink." The menu will feature traditional Japanese fare, sushi and an expansive menu of Robata selections prepared over an open flame. (And we guess the Hyatt affiliation of Andaz doesn't bother Katsuya's parent company SBE which operates the SLS Hotels brand.)

'Something Lovely's Starting': SLS South Beach Will Finally Open in April 2012
It's finally official--the long awaited SLS South Beach will open in April 2012! This will mark the second SLS Hotel to open after the flagship one in Los Angeles and hotelier Sam Nazarian is pulling out all the stops, combining pretty much all of his restaurant and nightclub hotspots under one roof.
First off, the hotel will feature room designs from SLS hotel designer Philippe Starck. While we only have that above rendering to go on, the rooms still retain the airy and effervescent quality of the SLS in LA but this looks a little, how do we say this?--cozier?
There are no "floating" glass beds and cramped low ceilings, although there will be oversized chaise lounges and the beds do look as if they are levitating ever so slightly. Starck is also doing something a little unusual behind the bed with curtains that feature a painted-on bedroom scheme. Same goes for the "armoire" that "holds" the TV opposite the bed (we saw this in another smaller rendering.) Oh and don't forget to look up, because there's a mirror on the ceiling!

If you've got the need for speed, you'll have extra incentive to stay at the SLS Beverly Hills and The Redbury. The hotels, which are part of SBE Hotel Group, now have speedy new BMWs that are available for guest use.
SBE is partnering with BMW to offer guests the company's latest rides. At SLS Beverly Hills, you can take a seat in an ActiveHybrid 750Li (see above photo), which is considered the world's fastest, street-legal hybrid on the market. So at least you'll be green while speeding down Rodeo Drive to do some shopping. At the Redbury, you can choose from the ActiveHybrid 750Li or the 550i Gran Turismo. Talk about tricked out!
