Get Tickled Pink By W's Generous 'Share Your Heart' Package

Magenta hues at the W Times Square
We've written about green hotel packages, but pink? The "Share Your Heart" promotion from New York's family of W Hotels proves that philanthropy and pleasure-seeking aren't mutually exclusive, and they've set out to give back to guests who want to do the same.
October, as you may well know, is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Perhaps you've already pitched in by collecting and sending in pink yogurt tops or attended a fundraising event, but you can also contribute by booking the "Share Your Heart" package at an NYC W location. Being uber femme-themed, it's perfect for girlfriends looking for a brief New York getaway in the fantasy-Manhattan vein of Sex and the City. We also see that the W San Francisco and W Hoboken have joined in on the charitable efforts, and we're tickled you-know-what color by their generosity.

Cocktails for a Cause at Viceroy’s Whist

Everybody likes happy hour, but what we love even more than drinking discounts is drinking for a cause. Luckily, we can now feel philanthropic as we sip and swig thanks to the Viceroy Santa Monica’s new Cocktails for a Cause happy hour at Whist.
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, every Tuesday from 6:00-9:00pm throughout the month of October, when drinkers, uh, we mean guests, order a specialty “Strawberry Vice” cocktail, 100% of the proceeds will go to the Beautiful Day Foundation.
The Strawberry Vice will cost you $10, and we got our hands on the top secret recipe: half an ounce of homemade strawberry jam, 1.5 ounces of Remy Martin VS, and 1.5 ounces of champagne put into a shaker with ice, stirred and served I a champagne flute. The pink cocktail should match your pink breast cancer awareness ribbon perfectly. We’ll cheers to that.

New York's Tudor Hotel Will Get A Hip New Lobby

When we reported that the historic Tudor Hotel was set to become a Hilton in March 2010, one commenter was not pleased. The concern? That a piece of hotel history would be ravaged by a cookie-cutter chain. Often, this is what happens when old gems are “updated,” but renovations on historic buildings can also be kind of awesome. We don’t know which it will be for the Tudor yet, but we do know who will be responsible for part of the spruce-up: Therese Virserius Design.

Peninsula Chicago Offers Pink Ribbon Dining and Spa Specials
Jumping on the pink-ribbon-filled Breast Cancer Awareness Month bandwagon, The Peninsula Chicago offers month-long specials to benefit the cause.
The hotel shows its true colors with a rosy-hued backlit entrance and logo as part of the Lynn Sage Cancer Research Foundation's annual Light the Way to Find a Cure campaign to remind ladies about the importance of doing self-exams on their tatas. The two marble lions flanking the Pen's entrance also got swathed in pink ribbons for the occasion.

The Bangles Burn 'An Eternal Flame' for Pinktober at The Hard Rock

Close your eyes, give me your hand, darling. Do you feel my heart beating, do you understand?
It's always good to see The Bangles are still out there performing their greatest hits from our pre-adolescence. It's even better to see The Bangles performing for such a good cause like Pinktober at the Hard Rock Hotel Orlando.
Pinktober is the Hard Rock's month-long breast cancer awareness program where guests can book special guestrooms that are outfitted with pink sheets (embroidered with little guitars) and pink bathrobes. Twenty-five percent of the room rate will benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Hotel Derek in Houston Unveils Its 'Lady Pink' Rooms

The pink hotel craze continues but the latest hotel to use pink in its rooms is doing it for a good cause. The Hotel Derek in Houston has created five guest rooms designed for the female traveler (uh oh, paging gender neutralists) and 10 percent of the room rate will go towards the Houston chapter of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
Pink décor complements each of the guest rooms and includes luxurious bedding, bathroom accessories, as well as a cozy robe and slippers. A unique feature of the Lady Pink rooms is the wellness bar and soothing spa music atop each nightstand.
Room rates start at $289 a night during hte week and goes down on the weekends to $169.

The Crosby Street Hotel Crushes Us With Their $525 Opening Rate

We're depressed. Yesterday, we were flying high about the pending opening of the Crosby Street Hotel in New York on September 29th. But today we discovered that rooms will start at a whopping $525 a night for a Superior Room. Spending that much gets you 335-sq.ft of space, a king bed, free internet, air conditioning, a shower (gee, thanks!) and a street view. And just a gentle reminder from the hotel: this rate excludes breakfast and taxes.
We understand that this is Soho and the Crosby Street Hotel probably wants to compete with the likes of The Mercer (which has similar rates) but $525 on opening night is just too much. We'd really only pay that much for a hotel room unless we absolutely love the hotel, which would imply a previous stay at the hotel. So asking $525 a night--in a depressed economy--is a little ballsy.

The Gansevoort Park Ave South Joins The Pink Hotel Craze

The Gansevoort Park Avenue South is still expected to open next summer (with free WiFi for guests!) and construction is finally underway but the finished product may look more Club Kid than Upscale Business Traveler with a Penchant for Parties and a Pastime for Modelizing. The reason why? The introduction of a bright pink into the building's columns. Curbed writes:
Gone are the beachy tones, replaced with blacks and browns and a column of glowing pink. That should certainly make a statement in straight-laced Murray Hill, no? Meanwhile, the facade has started to go up at 420 Park Avenue South, and it seems there are more changes being put into effect.
Lately, a bunch have hotels have begun incorporating this Elle Woodsian hue into their design schemes. We saw it at the Le Meridien Dallas and the Renaissance Arc de Triomphe in Paris. And apparently, the Murano Urban Resort, also in the City of Light, has a hot pink faux fur-lined elevator. Pink Hotels are the new stark/Starck white hotels?

Murano Urban Resort in Paris Makes Hot Pink Faux-Fur Look Cool

When a hotel round-up catches our eye that's called coolest hotels in Paris, we usually find the said hotels are actually not that cool. But it looks like we've been proven wrong this time because we are now pretty convinced that the Murano Urban Resort is a truly funky place to stay.
We've already been impressed by the fingerprint entry system for the rooms at the Murano, but there seems to be a lot more. Just for starters, know this: the elevator is lined with hot pink faux-fur! [Ed Note: Hot pink fur is so very Cher Horowitz, no?]
It's also one of those hotels where you can change the lighting to suit your mood (good, if we ever figure out what kind of lighting fits which mood), and the apparently comfortable beds are resting on platforms, which somehow gives us the illusion that we're pretty important people. And the lobby is so funky we might not even get past it to get to our room.
The smallest rooms start at €264 ($365) in July; the "extra large" Murano suite is just a little more at €1,500 ($2,075). Yes, cool costs. But it's cool.

Le Meridien Dallas North's Lobby is a Bit Pink. Whatchya Think?
Last week, we paid a visit to Le Meridien Dallas, which recently opened after the property (which had not been a Le Meridien until the this year) underwent a massive renovation. This hotel, as we've mentioned, is actually the prototype for the newly-revamped Le Meridien brand the new look will roll out across the entire chain soon and the design at this property was under the direction of Graham Downes (who was also the mastermind behind the Hard Rock San Diego).
The whole place has a whole lot of pink (well, fuschia) accents throughout, but a lil' pink never hurt anyone, right? Well, except this guy. The colors (we thought) made the lobby and rooms look contemporary and chic without being too cold.

The New Renaissance Paris Arc de Triomphe Does Pink Tastefully
Some of us here at HC are fans of pink. Like, big fans of pink to the point that one of our most indulgent (and fairly unrealistic) hotel fantasies is to live in the Schiaparelli Suite at the London May Fair for all eternity.
So it is only fitting that we're just a wee bit more excited than usual to report the opening of a new hotel in Paris from a chain/brand we already know due to the apparent (tasteful!) touches of pink incorporated into the guest room design. The ideally-located Renaissance Paris Arc de Triomphe opens in the City of Light today, complete with super-funky, modern design elements and enough pink to calm and satisfy everyone.

Royal Hawaiian Re-Opens With a Look That's Just as Pink
The pinkety-pink Royal Hawaiian in Waikiki resurfaced after a major renovation on January 29th, and the famed "Pink Palace of the Pacific" has made over its 529 guest rooms and is throwing a seriously lavish party to celebrate this Saturday.
For guests who want to join in on the pink fling, the hotel is offering a special "Grand Opening Gala" package that includes three nights in a Garden View guest room, daily breakfast for two at the Surf Lanai restaurant, two tix to the Grand Opening Gala, two pre-gala event tickets, a hotel tour, a take-home gift and the satisfaction of knowing you spent $1,680 at a Hawaii hotel in a time where businesses out in the 50th state really, really need it.
