The hotel chain is offering Kids with Personality, a new year-round program that gives children some complimentary check-in swag. For the summer, it will offer regal-themed goodies in honor of Prince William and Princess Kate, two people kiddies probably don't know.

The Kensington Park Hotel is really getting a rep for being the go-to hotel for getting it on. First, it introduced Snuggie Sutra, and now comes the Shag Like Royalty package.

To celebrate the impending royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, the San Francisco hotel will give you British favors like Union Jack condoms. We're guessing these aren't the rubbers of choice for British royalty, but they sure sound, um, festive.

The new-look Hotel Vertigo.

It’s been a few months since San Francisco's Personality Hotels got a brand new identity. So while we were up in the Bay Area last week, we decided to swing by Hotel Vertigo and Hotel Frank to see how they were faring under the Oregon-based Provenance Hotels boutique chain. (Which is also now managing the Hotel Metropolis.)

Our most pressing question, of course, was had the hotels retained any of their personality? Har har har.

Provenance Hotels Picks Up Some Personality (Hotels)

June 21, 2010 at 5:15 PM | by | Comment (1)

Hotel Vertigo.

Last month, we bemoaned the loss of three hotels from the Personality Hotels collection in San Francisco due to debt woes.

When we checked in with Personality in late May, hotelier Yvonne Lembi-Detert told us that there was no new manager/operator for The Hotel Metropolis, Hotel Vertigo and Hotel Frank. But a month later, we have learned that Provenance Hotels, an Oregon-based company with four hotels in the Northwest and one in Nashville, have assumed management of the former Personality Hotels.

We love Provenance Hotels because they understand that a boutique hotel stay can be affordable and fun--a philosophy that's very similar to Personality Hotels. Remember the contest we did with Provenance's Hotel Preston? We also love Provenance for their Foursquare savvy.

All in all, this is good news for the orphaned Personality Hotels. We just hope that Provenance keeps the free WiFi (they said they would.)

Three Personality Hotels in San Fran Get Stripped of Their Personality

May 24, 2010 at 11:10 AM | by | Comment (1)

The Hotel Frank, no longer A Personality Hotel.

Back in March, things did not look good for three Personality Hotels in San Francisco.

The Hotel Metropolis, Hotel Vertigo and our fave, Hotel Frank were all in danger of foreclosure and would likely be auctioned off. At the last-minute, Personality hotelier, Yvonne Lembi-Detert filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy to stall the auction. But her valiant efforts failed as the three hotels were sold-off early last week to the Centerline Capital Group, which holds the hotels' debt.

But these hotels may still have some Personality left.
