The Peninsula Beverly Hills Was Full of Oscar Gowns and Bling

We sure hope last week's Four Seasons jewelry thief wasn't lurking around the Peninsula Bev Hills last night!
The Peninsula Beverly Hills must have been a hectic scene last night as hand-delivered suits and mysterious orange sacks began arriving at the hotel and immediately whisked up to VIP suites. "The bling is here!" the hotel announced on Facebook, as we pictured everyone from Jennifer Aniston to Catherine Zeta-Jones checking into five-star hotels all over Hollywood to get themselves dolled up for the big awards ceremony.
While we can't say for sure which stars were actually at the Peninsula, we guarantee a few of them were pretty big names. After all, what regular person would have multiple bags of expensive jewelry dragged up to their hotel suite on Oscars night? One starry-eyed Facebook commenter wrote: "I can only imagine what's inside!" One thing's for sure: nothing we'd be able to afford in a million gazillion years.

Need Drink Ideas for Your Oscar Party? These Hotels' Bartenders Can Help

The Le Mizz Fizz doesn't look so mizz after all!
It's high season in Los Angeles right now as Hollywood folks spend the next few weeks preparing for the main event, The Oscars, on February 24. Everyone who's anyone is flitting about town "doing lunch", blowing air kisses to "friends", picking up free swag and gushing about this year's nominees, whether they mean it or not.
If you're headed to LA for a visit soon or if you're a struggling actor/screenwriter local, we've got an easy way for you to get in on the Oscar fun--by drinking at hotels, of course.
We've rounded up a bunch of Oscar-themed cocktails currently being served at a few hotels in Los Angeles as well as outside of Tinseltown. We've even included their recipes so you make your own Academy Award-winning libations. And we especially like how you don't have to book a room at any of these hotels to sip these suckers.

This is What Was Going on at The Grafton Over Oscar Weekend
It's been universally acknowledged that the Oscars awards show this year was both horribly boring and horrible in general. From the awkward hosts James Franco and Anne Hathaway to the downright shameful acceptance speech from Melissa Leo and the anti-climatic King's Speech sweep of Best Actor and Best Film, we're not sure many people would ever want to come back to Los Angeles to participate in the action.
BUT if they were inclined to give Oscars 2012 a chance, we suggest checking into The Grafton on Sunset, just a few short paces from the Sunset Tower where the legendary Vanity Fair party takes place.
We popped into the hotel over Oscar weekend to visit a friend and this is what the pool scene was like. Pretty quiet huh?

Good Luck Trying To Crash The Sunset Tower Hotel Oscar Bash
Madonna, sans bottoms, makes an appearance at the Sunset Tower Hotel with daughter Lourdes.
It's no contest that the hottest post-Oscars spot is the Vanity Fair bash at the Sunset Tower Hotel, an uber-exclusive party attended by A-listers like Madonna, Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer, Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal. But don't even think about sneaking in to the star-studded soiree.
Apparently, it's easier to get into Fort Knox than to crash the Sunset Tower Hotel party. After all, the highest security is needed when guests like Justin Bieber come with throngs of screaming, crazy tween fans.

Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez Come Out on Oscar Night at the Sunset Tower Hotel
Everyone's still buzzing about last night's Oscars, including the predictable winners, the red-carpet ups (tangerine-clad Jennifer Hudson) and downs (Melissa Leo's heavy doily dress). But the real thing to gossip about is what happened at the the after-party: Justin Bieber and his cougar Selena Gomez came out as a couple at a hotel bash. Twelve-year-olds everywhere are crying.
Earlier in the day, the Never Say Never star Bieber and Gomez stepped out at the St. Regis Monarch Beach, as documented by some totally overwhelmed fans. They were spotted in the lobby and were then bombarded by eager Biebers hoping to get pictures of the heartthrob while he was waiting for a car outside of the hotel.

D.C.'s the Jefferson Shakes Up Oscar-Inspired Cocktails
Black & White margarita
If you want to toast the Oscars, head down to the Jefferson Hotel in Washington, D.C. Not only will the hotel's Quill lounge screen the Academy Awards, it also will serve up some special cocktails inspired by the Best Picture nominees.
While you pick out the star who will join swan-wearing Bjork and flower-boobied Charlize Theron in the Worst Dressed Hall of Fame, sip on libations like the Black Swan-inspired Black & White margarita—three muddled lime wedges, two teaspoons of white sugar, a half ounce of Cointreau, 1.25 ounces of white tequila, a half ounce of house-made aloe vera juice, and double-salt rim of black Hawaiian salt and thyme-lemongrass-infused salt.

The King's Speech Crew Go For The Hotel Big Guns In the Pre-Oscar Campaign

The cast and crew of the award-grabbing Colin Firth and Geoffrey Rush flick are checking into big-name hotels on both coasts to build buzz ahead of the Oscars on February 27, where the film is up for a jaw-dropping 12 awards.
First up this week was a fete at the Chateau Marmont that predictably drew a giant roster of stars, including co-stars Firth and Rush. Director Tom Hooper and money man Harvey Weinstein were also on hand—along with Renee Zellweger, Quentin Tarantino, Michelle Williams and Jeremy Piven, according to The Daily. Apparently, James Franco was also in the house but not at the party.

A Robber Makes Off With His Own Oscar Swag in Beverly Hills

We thought security was supposed to be heightened around Los Angeles hotels during Oscar season but with the likes of Katie Price running in and out of the Chateau Marmont and this new report of a burglary at the Four Seasons Beverly Hills, things must have been a little off.
According to Page Six, Pepe Fanjul, the Cuban-born sugar baron who is one of the world's richest men was staying at the hotel in a suite with his wife. But on Friday night, a robber posing as a hotel worker entered their suite and stole the wife's bank account precious jewelry.

Giuliana Rancic Dishes on Her Favorite Hotel Amenity
As we told you on Friday, Drai's Hollywood, the nightclub atop the W Hollywood would open its doors on Oscars night for an E! after-party to be attended by the likes of Ryan Seacrest, Luke Wilson, Nia Vardolos and Sean William Scott.
We were clever (fortunate?) enough to obtain an invite where we staked out the red carpet. But while we somehow missed the last three promised celebs on the list, we were graced with the presence of the ultra-friendly Giuliana Rancic who graciously answered our question regarding what she looked for in hotel amenities.
And we were happy to hear that Giuliana was our kind of woman--more after the techie side of amenities but also with a little pampering thrown in. Here's what she had to say about her favorite hotel amenity and her recent hotel stay in Las Vegas.
