The Celebrity Holiday Hotel Hopping Continues

We're not haters or anything, but we've had to endure reruns and all types of holiday delays. And then we had to get back to work on the 2nd. Hell, some of us working stiffs didn't get much vaca at all. So, we're just wondering why these celebs still seem to be taking a break. Do they not have movies to shoot? Tracks to record?
OK!We admit it--from the pics we're seeing we're just jelly we're not in their spots. So we'll once again just live through them. And seethe from afar.
Madonna and her brood (including her 25-year-old boyfriend Brahim Zaibat) headed to the resort town of Gstaad, Switzerland, for New Year’s. It seems Anne Hathaway and new hubby Adam Shulman were around for the holidays, too. While the Material Mama spent time attempting to ski and bit the dust a few times, it seems 16-year Lourdes was smoother on the snowboard.

Jennifer Aniston's Presence Caused A Hotel Employee To Lose His Job

Remind us never to stay at the same hotel as Jennifer Aniston, as we might, in our star-struck, child-of-the-90s Friends nerd-dom accidentally get someone fired.
At least, that's what happened last week in Santa Fe at the Four Seasons Resort Rancho Encantado, when a hotel employee got the boot for divulging too much about Aniston's presence.
According to TMZ, a few guests had already spotted Aniston basking in the hotel's spa (evidently taking some time away from her usual LA haunt, the Sunset Tower). When shuttle bus driver Terry Siegler was asked about it, he confirmed she was in fact staying at the property, and even went on to talk her up a bit. But a few of Aniston's minions overheard the incident, and flipped out. Hotel management got involved, and before he knew it, Siegler was out of a job.

Seeing What Jennifer Aniston Sees from The Sunset Tower
We love luxury hotels but we can't always afford to stay in them. Thankfully, hotels these days are way more than just rooms for paying hotel guests. Between visiting the lobbies, bars, restaurants, and spas inside these upper echelon hotels, it's practically as good as staying the night. Here's our latest installment of how to quench your champagne tastes on a Coca-Cola budget with a Hotel Day Trip.
We've often ragged on Jennifer Aniston for her boring hotel habits--i.e. always hanging out at the Sunset Tower Hotel in West Hollywood but during a trip there the other week, we kinda understood why she does it.
The hotel's Terrace restaurant opens out to the small but stylish pool (check out the monogrammed towels) and on a picturesque day like this one, popping in here for breakfast is a great start to your day in LA. But of course, it's pricey fare with granola and pancakes at $16, eggs at $14 and a simple bagel with cream cheese over $10. (Add smoked salmon and it's $18.)
Still, it's an easy way to enjoy the simple beauty of Sunset Tower without having to shell out at least $300 for a room. Jennifer Aniston, we're not saying you should go here all the time when you're in town, but we understand.

Are You a Repeat Hotel Guest Like Jennifer Aniston?

There is no getting through that thick but enviably coiffed head of Jennifer Aniston's. Even though we pleaded with her as far back as 2008 to find a new hotel in Los Angeles to hang out, the girl insists on doing all her business at the Sunset Tower Hotel. Just recently, gossip reports have her dining with her beau Justin Theroux at the hotel's Tower Bar.
The pair, both casually dressed, looked cozy as they dined at the Sunset Tower Hotel’s Tower Bar. A witness in the restaurant said, “They sat in a corner table overlooking the city, deep in conversation and holding hands under the table. It was very sweet: They looked the image of happiness.”
Snoooooooooooze.

Do Your Own Booty...Er, 'Bounty Hunting' at The Borgata Hotel

Jennifer Aniston and Gerard Butler may be showmancing each other on red carpets around the world for their new movie, The Bounty Hunter, but we truly doubt there is any real romance going on between them. Yet if you're intrigued by their sexual tension, you can have your own shot at replicating it at the Borgata Hotel in Atlantic City where some scenes for the movie were filmed.
The hotel has created a special Follow the Bounty package which includes some of the perks Jen and Gerard indulged in both off-screen and on. Such as:

Jennifer Aniston Was Well-Protected at The One and Only Palmilla

Hitting up the the One and Only Palmilla and worried that paparazzi might be trying to snap pictures of you and your friends (including Gerard Butler) celebrating your 41st birthday in bikinis?
Well if you're Jennifer Aniston, then you have nothing to worry about--the resort will pull out all the stops to ensure your privacy is safe.
SF Gate reports:
In an agreed TV interview with reporter Billy Bush, the actress pointed out the paparazzi boats out at sea, full of snappers who tried to get saucy shots of the star.
But resort staff, police and the local coast guard went beyond the call of duty to make sure the trip was a relaxing one.
She explains, "Our gang ... has been holding up these mirrors ... to sort of disrupt their photographs ... I think any guest who comes here would hope to have a little privacy. I think it's very nice."

La Mamounia Celebrates Reopening With A-List Celebs and Thankfully, No Lohans

While hotel opening parties stateside seem to be a thing of the past, in Morocco the parties seem more lavish than ever with a mind-boggling amount of celebrities in attendance.
We were just recovering from the Lindsay Lohan-Gerard Butler possible hook-up at the Mazagan Beach Resort last month when we heard that the famed La Mamounia Hotel threw an opening party with Orlando Bloom, Jennifer Aniston, Gwyneth Paltrow, Adrien Brody (who played the piano for guests), Juliette Binoche, Dree Hemingway, Paloma Piccaso, Jose Carreras, Glenda Bailey, Colin Cowie, Matthew Williamson and Salma Hayek in attendance.
So, what happened to Lindsay Lohan's invite? Well, considering that the hotel took about three years to renovate (done by internationally-acclaimed interior designer, Jacques Garcia), we guess they didn't want Lohan sullying up the opening festivities.

Jennifer Aniston Ate at Cooper Square's Table 8 Before You Did
We give the Cooper Square a pretty hefty amount of garbage for their panty-views (see here and here, in case you haven't been in on the fun) and their occasionally non-functioning website and whatnot, so we'll be nice today and deliver some good news: we called the hotel this morning and found out that Table 8, the hotel's long-awaited restaurant from chef Govind Armstrong, opened last night.
New York Mag's latest issue mentioned the opening, describing the dining room as "outfitted with a leather-clad wall, bookshelves, and a central fourteen-seat 'salt bar' featuring house-cured meats and fish," but according to the hotel staffer we spoke to, the resto didn't actually open to the public until last night.
On Tuesday night, however, good ol' Jennifer Aniston was all up in there for her new flick's after-party, but the only notable happening from that event was some weird drama going on with her and some dude (so says Page Six). We're not too worried about Aniston making this her new Sunset Tower, though, 'cause she doesn't live in NYC. In other words, we can sleep soundly knowing we'll be able to enjoy those fabled short-rib grilled cheese sandwiches (as seen on Oprah!) in peace.

Is The Sunset Tower the New Hollywood Roosevelt?

This recent item in Page Six about a recent debaucherous party at the The Sunset Tower had us a bit concerned. And it's not because we are distraught over the caliber of women that How I Met Your Mother cutie Jason Segel is dating--although it does worry us quite a bit. No, what has our hotel geek radar blipping is that the Sunset Tower is looking a lot like another Hollywood hotel of lore--The Hollywood Roosevelt.
Back in 2005 the Hollywood Roosevelt was out of control with its celebrity guests and their parties. The hotel was actually the ultimate haven for A-list celebs who were still denying they had a substance abuse problem.

Who's Keeping the Sunset Tower in Business?
Time to get serious about the Sunset Tower in West Hollywood. We know, we know: we've been known to dish the occasional eye-roll in its direction due to the hotel's biggest fan (Jen Aniston, obviously) and the rest of the restaurant's celeb clientele.
The hotel's name surfaces all over the gossip rags for the Oscar party reports and the famous faces lurking about the property in fact, People just reported spotting Madonna, Anne Hathaway, Penelope Cruz, Lily Allen and ol' Aniston there (not all together, obvs) but what's the deal with the hotel itself? Why don't we hear anything about it? Does this place exist solely to please Jennifer Aniston and her friends, to ban paparazzi from bothering famous people and for highly-publicized Oscar parties?
Back in '06, HotelChatter's MarkJ stayed at the Sunset Tower and loved it. Great views, sunny rooms, an interesting old building with modern touches, and free WiFi what's not to love? Well, we don't know: we have gotten zero reader reviews of this place, and over at TripAdvisor, the hotel is ranks #12 of 17 West Hollywood hotels pretty middle-of-the-pack.
So we want to hear from you: what's the Sunset Tower like nowadays? Is there anything to it besides its celeb-infested restaurant?
If you've stayed there recently, we want to hear about it.

Someone Besides Jen Aniston Shows Up at the Sunset Tower
As the whole Internet may be aware by now, Jennifer Aniston goes to the Sunset Tower a lot. So much so that we ended up writing an open letter to urge her to change her hotel habits and then we proceeded to ignore all reports of her showing up to the Sunset Tower since. We did what we had to do.
But now! We're delighted to relay the news that someone else has gone to the Sunset Tower. In fact, two other celebs besides John Mayer and Courtney Cox and whomever else goes there to meet Jen Aniston were spotted there by Page Six:
Mickey Rourke and Sean Penn seem to have smoked a peace pipe. Penn was said to be furious after Rourke - in line for an Oscar for his turn in "The Wrestler" - called Penn a "homophobe" and an "average" actor following Penn's performance in "Milk." But the two were at the Sunset Tower hotel pool Monday afternoon having drinks together.
Page Six's source told the rag that Mickey looked a little nervous "around Sean" but perhaps they were just nervous that Jen would bust out onto the pool deck and tell them to get off her turf. Well, probably not. Surely nobody would be crazy enough to charge two men smoking a proverbial "peace pipe" anyway.

This Engagement Concierge Will Be The Romantic You Could Never Be

Perpetually single gal, Jennifer Aniston, cast in post Brad Pitt years as the lonely and unlucky in love gal by media and her reps, might want to consider the Creative Engagement Services that Mexico's Marquis Los Cabos Resort offers the next time she's frolicking on the beach with on again-off again/"is it for show?" beau John Mayer.
Instead of waiting for Mayer to pen poetic lyrics and croon her a private song, Miss Aniston doesn't have to be traditional to get what she wants. She can spend some of those millions on her new bestie - an Engagement Concierge - who aims to "help hopeful fiances count the ways to propose." That's right. Hotels even want to take care of your marriage proposals now.
