The Revere Hotel in Boston Opens with a Vertical Catwalk

The other day we mentioned that the new Revere Hotel Boston Common would be opening with a special "revolutionary rate" of $177.50 of Paul Revere's famous ride on April 18, 1775. But things got a whole lot crazier than that. Like "Mission Impossible" crazy.
Runway "models" from Boston Rock Gym walked down the exterior of the building on a vertical catwalk, showing off the hotel's uniforms which were designed by students at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design
The uniforms are worn, on the ground, by the property's doormen, valet, front desk staff and cocktail servers. The runway show also featured some looks from UK designer label Ted Baker London, perhaps as a gesture to show that everything's copacetic now between the British and us.
The $177.50 rate is good through May 31 but reservations must be made by calling the hotel directly, referencing promo code REV775.

The Guys at 60 Thompson Just Got A Little More Fashionable

It's no secret that the handsome doormen of New York's coolest boutique hotels could (and do) work part-time as male models (we still wish we had gotten a close-up of this guy) but today, we've got an actual modeling shoot from the male employees at 60 Thompson.
Here they are posing in their new uniforms designed by fashion label, Theory, with some style input from Thompson's own Jason Pomeranc. A hotel rep tells us originally the unis were done by Tophat but then were mixed and matched with various retail items until the new Theory threads arrived. Overall, it's a stylin' yet still casual look. We like.
We've got a couple of more photos after the jump. And yes, you're welcome!

Unlike the Rest of Gramercy Park Hotel, These Cocktail Dresses Are Not For Sale

Yesterday, we saw that it's possible for guests at the Gramercy Park Hotel to take home their favorite parts of the hotel when they check out. But there's something weird and creepy about taking home the cocktail dress of the waitress who just served you drinks at the bar.
Thankfully, that's not one of the options on the Amenities menu. But after you see the new dresses (worn by waitresses at Rose Bar or Gramercy Terrace), which were created by French-born designer Sophie Theallet, you might well be wishing for one of your own!
Designed out of stretch silk crepe, the garments have been made in two colors—"Gramercy red" and "midnight blue"—and are supposed to mimic the rich textures of the room interiors. Luckily, Theallet didn't get too literal and deck the waitresses out in velvet curtains and tassels in their hair.

A Sneak Peek at the Hotel Uniforms for Hyatt Danang in Vietnam

What the hotel managers will be wearing at Hyatt Regency Danang.
Last week, we took a look at some of the big hotels opening in New York, London, Los Angeles and Miami but there's a whole world out there! We'll be highlighting some upcoming hotel openings every week until the end of the year! Know of a cool hotel that's opening? Let us know!
When the Hyatt Regency Danang opens in Vietnam on October 31, the hotel staff is going to be sporting some very stylish uniforms complete with matching shoes, hats and accessories. And it's not just the front desk that will look pretty. The stewards, chefs, housekeepers, security guards and even the landscapers will all get stylish clothes to wear.

At Hyatt 48Lex, They Whistle While They Work

Sometimes they're chic. Sometimes they reflect the local vibe. Sometimes they're super sexed-up. But in the hands of Hyatt 48Lex, hotel uniforms are a little like fast-food: served up quick, hot, and made-to-order.
We were touring the newly-opened hotel (and President of Sierra Leone's pied-ŕ-terre), when we happened to pass by one of the conference rooms located off of the Lexicon Lounge on the second floor. Now, we pride ourselves on being eagle-eyed when it comes to hotel oddities, but it didn't take a detective to realize that something looked a little out of place here.
Instead of the usual orderly scene of business suits, laptops, and PowerPoint presentations, we found the tables strewn with fabric, measuring tape and sewing machines. Was Cinderella in town? No, it turns out the entire space had been converted into a fitting room and production center for hotel staff uniforms! And they (very kindly) allowed us to take this photograph of the seamstresses hard at work.

A Sneak Peek at Custom Hotel's Airline-Inspired Uniforms

The other month we took you inside the newly revamped Custom Hotel near Los Angeles International Airport and we were tickled by all the new airline-inspired things the hotel added to its decor, amenities and services like the hotel's logo which is a set of wings surrounding the letter C, the Layover Lounge which serves at the hotel lobby, and the aviation-inspired floor names like Supersonic and Stratosphere. Oh and the paper airplanes left on the bed for VIP guests.
We also mentioned that the hotel's employees would soon be rocking uniforms and nametags inspired by the airlines of the 1960s. (Yes, it's so very Pan Am!) And finally, we've got our hands on some sketches for the uniforms.

Gansevoort Only Wears Clothes From The Next Generation

What happens when a flashy brand like Lacoste sets up shop inside a flashy hotel lobby like Gansevoort Park Avenue? Well, the staff uniforms get a whole lot, er, flashier.
Even though the hotel's already been open for a year, the infamous alligator brand is just now getting ready to deck out the entire hotel staff, according to the NY Times. Not limiting itself just to Park Avenue, however, the company will service both Gansevoort hotels, plus the Soho House, and Nobu out in the Hamptons.

First Look At the Hotel Williamsburg's New Uniforms

Here's your first look at the new uniforms for staffers at the Hotel Williamsburg, designed by Brooklyn Industries. When we speculated on the mystery duds last month, we admit, we were teasing just a little. But in true Brooklyn Industries fashion (the company logo is a water tower), the so-called "uniforms" hardly resemble anything work-related at all. And we mean that in a good way.
A rep for the hotel confirmed that each department (cocktail waiters and waitresses, poolside bartenders, housekeeping, etc) will be given their own "look"—unlike certain other hotels who prefer to focus on the attire (or lack thereof) of their cocktail waitresses alone. So far, two photos have been released, one (above) showing the range for both men and women, and another (below) of a dress worn by female room attendants.

The Double-breasted Tuxedo Travels from Wall Street to the Staff of the W Downtown
Ah, summer in New York City. It's a time for rooftop terraces to open, European tourists to trek up and down the streets of Soho, and hotel cocktail waitresses to shed clothing and strip down to outfits more suitable to hot, hot weather. Usually that means mini-dresses at the trendier hotels, but for the W Downtown, it's a really cute tuxedo shorts set.
The new outfitsdesigned by Lyn Devonare inspired by the conservative suits of nearby Wall Street, livened up with a bit of silk satin trim. Somehow they manage to provide more coverage than a skimpy dress, yet look infinitely sexier. We approve! In fact, we wouldn't mind wearing this as an everyday look.
To catch the girls in their double-breasted tuxes, head up to the W Downtown's Living Room Bar on the 5th Floor. We recently spent a nice afternoon there, chilling, but the tuxes weren't yet in season.

Coworth Park Finally Shows Us Just What Life is Like in The Sticks…
Since we wrote about it’s opening back in September, we have been eagerly awaiting the images of Coworth Park, the “eco-luxury” country house hotel from The Dorchester Collection. Well it seems they have finally given us what we wanted, a peak inside the hotel. And what’s more instead of images they have actually uploaded a short film onto the hotel’s website.

First Reactions to the Waikiki Edition Concern the TV and the Uniforms

Lovely view but where's the TV?
UPDATE: As we suspected, those are not the real uniforms. Here is the official description:
Freddie Leiba styled, simple and chic: combination of greys, whites and blacks; custom black and white sarongs for the female pool servers with matching board shorts for the guys.
USA Today has a great sneak peek (with real photos) of the new Waikiki Edition which soft-opened yesterday and we've learned quite a few interesting things. For starters, that picture of what we thought was a kids' room complete with a pink ukulele and towels? Those Hawaiian amenities are actually found in every room and the towels are really bright-colored sarongs. Sassy!
Secondly, a tipster brought to our attention the awkward position of the TV saying, "Unless it's on some swivel mount, you won't be watching it from bed." Good point.
From what we can see on the website, there is no mention of a swivel mount. This doesn't bother us too greatly as it's Hawaii and we'd probably like not to watch TV while we're there. But we know this isn't true for everyone.

Las Ventanas Creates a Whole Mythology Behind Its New Uniforms
While some hotel uniforms help set a sexy mood and others seem to have no purpose at all, the new threads worn by staff at Las Ventanas al Paraiso in Los Cabos have elaborate stories behind them.
Mexican designers Maria Rosario Mendoza and Alejandro Julian drew on their country's history and culture to create different get-ups for every department. Each uniform has its own embroidered design or color combo that symbolizes a particular job at the resort. But the hotel stretches the symbolism a bit too far, though.
