The Penis Festivals are Over as Maritime Hotel's Matsuri Restaurant and Hiro Ballroom are Closing

It looks like the Penis Festivals and the Hot Pot Parties are over at the Matsuri restaurant inside the Maritime Hotel.

Guest of a Guest reports that both Matsuri and the Hiro Ballroom at the hotel are closing at the end of March. And in their place will be two new spots from Marc Packer, who helped launched two of NYC's hottest nightclubs, Lavo and Tao.

While Hiro and Matsuri were beloved places in their own right (and not just because of penis worshipping), we're guessing they just could not compete with the PH.D, the nightclub at the bumpin' Dream Downtown.

The Penis Festival usually happens during the first week of April. Maybe Matsuri will celebrate a week early. After all, what could be better than a final send-off surrounded by penii?

The W London Goes Wyld with Natasha Law's New Shot Glasses

The W London's Wyld nightclub might be one of the toughest clubs to get into (you must be on the guestlist) but once you're inside, you can do what you want--even pilfer one of the bar's new shot glasses from illustrator Natasha Law (sis to Jude.)

From the presser:

Law, known for her nude line drawings which cross the boundaries between fashion and design, took inspiration from Wyld’s rock ‘n’ roll spirit when creating the striking female and male characters. Commenting on the project Natasha said, “I’m excited to collaborate with Wyld. I was inspired to create these character by the fun, sleek and seductive qualities of Wyld at W London - Leicester Square. My concept was for them to work individually, but also interact as a flirting pair.’

Law's male and female shot glasses will be the vessels for Wyld's signature shot of specially curated premium tequila, premium tequila, kaffir lime sugar syrup, lemon and fresh watermelon.

There will be 250 pairs of the shot glasses in use starting next week and Wyld says its bartenders "will turn a blind eye" to the clubgoer looking to go home with the couple. (Since W London has a no picture policy, your one and only chance to see these shot glasses up close happens right here.)

We've been waiting a seriously long time for the Dream Downtown to open and last month, we got word that we would now have to wait until Summer 2011. While the construction job looks about done, there's some drama going on behind the scenes. Yes, another hip new NYC hotel is having drama behind the scenes just before opening. Yawn.

This drama apparently deals with the nightclub aspect of the Dream flagship hotel, which is now in partnership with Wyndham Hotels.

According to its website, the hotel has plans for a restaurant, MSR, from neurologist-chef, Dr. Miguel Sánchez Romera (hmmm...interesting, we'll have to explore that in detail later) as well as a rooftop lounge and beach club. Yes, beach club in lower Manhattan! But who is running the sandy enclave is now in dispute.

The NY Post reports:

"Your room or my room? Oh yeah, I forgot my parents are here too."

The Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas has made no effort to hide its love for the teen crushes of the day from Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, The Jonas Brothers and our fave, today's resident heartbreaker, Justin Bieber.

But merely inviting the latest teen dream to visit and perform a concert while selling teen-themed packages to guests wasn't enough for Atlantis. So they've gone and created an $11 million nightclub especially for teens. And it's called, Crush.

Designed by renowned architect and interior designer, Jeffrey Beers, the 14,000 square-foot mod-inspired space boasts; an interactive Internet Lounge complete with multi-touch computers and surface tables with photo editing and publishing interfaced to Facebook; a Gaming Stadium boasting a 22-foot floor-to-ceiling Gaming Tree and private cabanas stocked with state-of-the-art technology including the newly launched Microsoft flagship motion sensor product Kinect for Xbox 360; and a 1,500 square-foot Dance Club complete with multi-purpose video walls, performance stage, VIP sections and doormen all worthy of paparazzi.

Kiddie parties welcome!

We've been so busy tracking the new bachelor moves of David Arquette that we nearly forgot about the new show he is working on at the Hollywood Roosevelt--Beacher's Madhouse.

Last we checked, the show wouldn't officially open until mid-January but now we've got word that the show will open on February 14, 2011! Will David and Courtney rekindle the flame on Valentine's Day at the show? That remains to be seen.

The show will also host two sneak peek performances on New Year's Eve and on New Year's Day. Tickets for those shows will go on sale on December 15 at 9am. You can request tickets here.

There's no word yet on how much this will cost you but they are selling tables and memberships rather than just individual tickets, which means this could get kinda pricey. The site is also saying that most of the shows are already sold-out for the first three months. We're guessing that's thanks to the Roosevelt's well-cultivated celebrity clientele. Yes, it's like Prince all over again.

In the meantime, Beacher's is now doing private performances for special guests. And it looks like they've already done their first kiddie party.

Things Sound Predictably Crazy at Crazybox Inside The Waikiki Edition

The Waikiki Edition has been open for nearly two months and we've already gotten a ton of insider pics as to what the place looks like.

And the place just doesn't look good, it actually is good, judging from the recent reviews on TripAdvisor. The hotel has already shot up to the #4 ranking for hotels in Honolulu with mentions of outstanding hotel service at the forefront of most reviews. However, a few reviews bemoan the hotel's busy location (it's not actually on the beach and some say the intersection noise outside was too loud.)

Just about the only things we've haven't been privvy to are the hotel's spa and nightclub, Crazybox. But thanks to Aloha Update, we can get a glimpse into the latter.

South Beach Hotels Sex Up Their Nightspots For High Season

Where: Miami Beach, FL, 33139
October 14, 2010 at 9:20 AM | by | Comments (0)

Now LIVE: The Upper Lobby at The Ritz-Carlton South Beach.

Wait just a minute there, Soho Beach House! You may be attracting Miami's movers and shakers with your newness, but other hotels on the beach have been prepping for the high season on the way as well--and have spruced up their nightspots in advance.

The Ritz Carlton South Beach isn't exactly known as party central (and thank god for that--we do need some reprieve from the Ocean Drive thump thumpin'). But with a brand new live-music spot, LIVE, the hotel is now a contender for kicking off a night of revelry.

When Is Beacher's Madhouse at the Roosevelt Starting?

Now that David Arquette is in the midst of a separation from wife Courtney Cox, we're guessing he has more time on his hands for socializing. And the first thought that comes to our hotel-oriented minds is his show, Beacher's Madhouse, which is set to debut at the Hollywood Roosevelt this fall.

We first found out about the partnership with Arquette and Jeff Beacher's circus act back in August and here's what we were told then:

The show will feature "hard-partying dwarves" (like Tiny Kiss and mini-Britney) and burlesque acts along with "go-go girls, midget impersonators, live animals, acrobats, contortionists, and fire-breathers." There will also be a Midget Bar where little people will fly across the room to serve drinks.

The Roosevelt will also create a sort of tricked-out secret entranceway to the Beacher's Madhouse theater, behind a library bookcase.

The show is set to run Wednesday-Saturdays starting at 10pm. But we still don't know exactly when this show will kick off. Beacher's Madhouse website has a "Roosevelt Theater" page but when you click on it, it only says "Coming Soon." That said, in running through some of the links on the BM Facebook page, we're seeing the end of October for a starting run date.

Provocateur at The Gansevoort Survives 'Erase' Threats from Sean Parker

We admit we have a slight obsession with Sean Parker, the brilliant bad boy billionaire who helped Mark Zuckerberg catapult Facebook to the masses. So this item in today's Page Six has us cackling a bit.

Parker was played by Justin Timberlake in the movie, "The Social Network" and JT spent last week socializing at the Gansevoort Park's Plunge rooftop pool and lounge with no problems.

But when the real Sean Parker went over to the original Gansevoort Hotel, things didn't go as smoothly. Two of the girls that Parker rolled up with were not allowed into the Provocateur club, prompting Parker to yell at the doorwoman that she was being size-ist, saying:

"This is profiling! I know you guys have a height requirement for women, and the reason these girls can't come in is because these girls are too short."

Parker, the doorwoman and the club owner went back and forth several times over with the club reiterating their strict reservation policy. The fracas culminated with Parker allegedly threatening to "erase" the doorwoman from Facebook. But it may have all just been a bluff because Page Six reports her Facebook profile is still active. Yeah, but maybe Sean Parker is now reading all her FB messages now?

The Fontainebleau's LIV Club Expands into Dolphin Territory

September 27, 2010 at 1:59 PM | by | Comments (0)

Celebs already love LIV Nightclub at the Fontainebleau. Now they can take a little piece of that South Beach club vibe with them to Sun Life Stadium, home of the Miami Dolphins.

The spin-off of the Fontainebleau's nightclub opened for last night's Dolphins-Jets game, but even the presence of A-list Dolphans in the swank new spot couldn't help the team defeat Gang Green.

Eww, Good Units At The Hudson Hotel Needs a Good, Thorough Cleaning

Sheesh, we thought stealing art was a pretty tacky guest move but the latest bad behavior at the Hudson Hotel's Good Units club takes disgusting to a new level.

The New York Post has the scoop on the performance artist who got nekkid and urinated on fellow partygoers. And we can barely get through reading it--or writing about it--without wanting to take a shower. The good, old-fashioned H2O kind that you might take upstairs in the rooms' teeny peekaboo bathrooms, that is.

If You Stay At The Jane, Don't Expect to Have a Night in the Ballroom

Off limits come night time if you’re a hotel guest

As you may have gathered from our review yesterday, we didn’t exactly dig our stay at The Jane NYC. But what we lacked as regards a clean room and a pleasant environment, we told ourselves, we were gaining in street cred, as staying there would surely get us entry into the fabled Ballroom, which reopened in May.

What were we thinking? Of course they’re not going to let plebs who pay $89 for a room into One Of The Most Exclusive Spaces In Manhattan. We would ruin the hipster vibe if we dared enter, smelling of The Jane.

We got in around midnight on Thursday night and could hear the choons as we walked up the staircase. We noted the hipsters standing outside smoking and jumping in taxis and loafing around in the lobby looking way too cool for school. And we wanted to join them (actually we kinda needed a drink to persuade us to return to that room, but anyways).
