Stop What You are Doing and Check Out This Puppy in a Kimpton Hotel Bathrobe

January 28, 2015 at 11:05 AM | by | ()

Let's just take a quick break right now from the stress and anxiety we're all under on this Wednesday morning and focus on this snapshot of the Today Show's puppy, Wrangler, chilling in a Kimpton Hotels animal-print bathrobe during the "blizzard" the other day. The cuteness, it kills.

There's also another pic of Wrangler "reading" the room service menu. Glad to see someone else feels the same way we do about this supposedly waning hotel tradition.

Kimpton Hotels has long been a fave pet-friendly hotel brand of HotelChatter. We think half of the stories in our dog-friendly hotels section feature Kimpton properties. But now that Kimpton is officially a part of InterContinental Hotel Group, we guess they're able to take their pet-friendliness national now. Thanks, IHG!

Nothing Says 'I Love You' Like a Kimpton Bathrobe

January 23, 2012 at 9:15 AM | by | ()

Unlike other industries, where it's just about guzzling free candy and wearing too many red cardigans, Valentine's Day is a special time of year for hotels. The January slump is suddenly reversed by couples seeking out romantic getaways, anonymous hook-ups, and indulgent spa treatments. Not to mention special food that puts you in that special mood. Here are our three picks for Valentine's Day hotels in NYC.

Remember when we found out Kimpton Hotels devoted an entire month to flaunt their funky leopard-, giraffe-, and zebra-print bathrobes? And remember how, unless you were a guest, it was kinda hard to get one? Well, that part is still the same. But they're making it more worth your while with a month-long "Robe-mance" package ($269, booking code ROBES) that includes a $25 dining and beverage credit and two robes.

Who Knew? This Month is 'Rock the Robe' Month at Kimpton Hotels

October 6, 2011 at 4:24 PM | by | ()

Kimpton robes spotted in the wild...aka a guest room.

If you've ever lusted after one of Kimpton Hotels's signature animal print bathrobes, this month might be the month to get one.

The hotel brand is commemorating the 10th anniversary of their robe all month long at their hotels by doing several giveaways.

The first way to win a Kimpton bathrobe is to simply attend the hotel's nightly wine hour, which has actually been renamed Wild Wine Hour this month and will be two hours long instead of the usual hour. (Sorry, this is for guests only!)Guests are invited to to strut around in their animal print robes while employees (also rocking the robes) will raffle off robes for guests to take home. Please be mindful of fellow attendees if you decide to "freeball" it.

'Real' Housewife is a Total Hotel Bathrobe Klepto

October 5, 2011 at 8:55 AM | by | ()

Hey Hotels, if you've been noticing that your hotel robe supply has been dwindling you might want to look into the closet of "Real Housewives of D.C." star Michaele Salahi.

The White House Crasher turned Journey groupie is apparently a major klepto when it comes to hotel bathrobes...according to her soon-to-be ex-husband, Tareq.

Tareq told TMZ.com that he's auctioning off all her belongings now that she's ditched him for the Journey guitarist and among her precious wares are OVER 50 HOTEL ROBES. How does one woman possibly snatch up that many hotel robes? Well, there was a diabolical sort of madness to her crimes. Tareq said:

As soon as we arrived [at the hotels], Michaele would call housekeeping and demand a bath gown saying that there was one missing. So when we checked out we would not be charged for taking it." Tareq adds, "Looking back I know realize this is indicative of our relationship together, full of deceit, lies ... and bathrobes."

The Bathrobes at the Colony Palms Will Put You In the Mood For Morocco

One of the main things that makes us feel all snuggly in a hotel room, company and merlot aside? A good bathrobe. And, being bathrobe geeks, there are several categories we judge our robes on Ė from texture (not too soft but not too scratchy) and absorbency (should dry without getting wet itself) to length (too short, itís cold and indecent, too long itís like a shroud) and overall pleasantness of appearance. When all these things converge, itís the matrix for toweling heaven.

Recently, we stayed at The Colony Palms hotel in Palm Springs, and although the bathrobes werenít as fancy as some of this lot, we were very taken by them. Mainly because they did the stuff in terms of practicalities, and then accessorized with little white hoods.

You've got 12 days until Christmas and if you're still struggling to find the perfect gift for the hotel lover in your life, we've got some good gift ideas for you. Once again, we've gone through some of our favorite hotel products from the past year and picked out the ones we'd like to receive er, we think would make great gifts--whether for stocking stuffers or to open on Christmas morn. So let's get shopping!

1. Keychains from "Hotel" Marc: : We kicked off 2010 coveting, and eventually owning, these Hotel Marc keychains from fashion designer Marc Jacobs. Sadly, there is no Hotel Marc...yet but with the proliferation of fashion hotels these days, we don't think Hotel MJ is far behind. Until then, you can buy leather versions for just $13. You can choose from the script lettering or the bolder print. Both keyrings say "Since 1984" on the back.
Where to Buy: MarcJacobs.com.

Wrap Yourself Up in These Hotel Bathrobes

January 26, 2010 at 4:04 PM | by | ()

Yesterday we were positively salivating over the stunning bathrobes at the Hotel Missoni and we feel confident in saying that these are the prettiest hotel robes yet. But just in case we weren't jumping the gun or anything, we decided to peruse through our collection of hotel bathrobes to be sure.

Yup. Missoni definitely has the most colorful hotel robes of them all. Although we have to give props to the Kimpton Hotels animal-print bathrobes. Even though we actually owned the zebra print at one point, we can't seem to find an actual photo of it.

But away we go. Check out the hotel robes in this new gallery. We'll be adding to it as we continue to roam around hotels around the world. And if you're lusting after a certain bathrobe, it can be bought from the hotel for a price (usually starting around $100.)

What's your favorite hotel bathrobe? Let us know in comments below.
