Hilton's HHonors Program Strips Down for New Promotion

This is certainly more exciting than Tweeting or Facebooking a new loyalty program promotion. A handful of Hilton Hotels HHonors members stripped down to bright blue bathing suits yesterday morning in NYC's Penn Station as a way to promote the new Great Getaway offer which offers rooms for 40 percent off this summer.
Throughout the day, the bikini-clad "members" took their "impromptu urban beach" flashmob complete with folding chairs, beach balls and towels advertising the HHonors Facebook page to other locations such as Times Square, Grand Central, Rockefeller Center and Bryant Park. And yes, they got looked at strangely everywhere they went.
Fortunately, to take advantage of the Great Getaway, you won't have to do anything as publicly embarrassing as this. All you have to do is book your reservation through HHonors between now and August 22nd to get up to 40 percent off at participating Hilton Hotels worldwide.

To TopGuest or Not To TopGuest? That Is The Hotel Loyalty Question
How awesome would it be to get loyalty program points just for visiting a hotellike dining at its restaurant, grabbing a beer at the bar or just meeting in its lobbyinstead of only for the time you actually sleep there?
Put very simply, that's the concept behind the social media loyalty program TopGuest, which tracks your Foursquare and Facebook Places check-ins and awards you points when you stop by hotels under their program. It's an excellent, novel idea, but is it worth paying attention to?
TopGuest launched exclusively with Standard Hotels over the summer, and they quickly picked up further partnerships with the Soho Grand/Tribeca Grand Hotels, Viceroy Hotels and many others, even Holiday Inn. Check out the current full list in the image above (with a bonus of Virgin America and Avis thrown in). Now, we feel like we have a pretty well-rounded social life, and yet we haven't yet earned any rewards. What's up with that?

Hilton Honors to Offer Free Internet for Elite Members Starting Sept. 1

Hilton Marco Island, Fla.
Following in the footsteps of Starwood and Marriott, Hilton Hotels HHonors program has just announced they will offer complimentary internet access to their Gold and Diamond members starting Sept. 1, 2010.
Ok, by now, you should know to slow your roll with these types of announcements. Gold and Diamond levels are for the serious travelers--i.e. Ryan Bingham. Gold members stay up to 36 nights a year or earn 60,000 base points (this can also be done through point promotions, credit card promotions, etc.) while Diamond members do 60 nights or 100,000 base points a year.
In addition to the complimentary internet, Gold and Diamond members will get a few more perks too such as room upgrades, breakfast, access to executive floor lounges (if the hotel has them) and a special 48-hour advance mobile check-in feature using Hilton brands iPhone apps.

'Elevate' Yourself During Your Next Hilton Hotel Stay

While Virgin America snapped up boutique hotels from Morgans Hotels and JDV Hotels to participate in its frequent flyer program, Elevate, the airline has actually been partnered with Hilton Hotels HHonors program for quite some time, allowing guests to earn points just for sleeping at Hilton.
If you aren't an Elevate member, you should join now because from now through September 30 you can earn double Elevate points with every Hilton Hotel stay. And that includes all brands under the Hilton umbrella with the exception of Conrad Hotels. The points vary depending on the brand, but it's typically either 50 or 250 points per stay. Elevate members must request Elevate points at check-in along with their Elevate membership number.

Hilton Kicks Off its Worldwide Summer Getaway Deal (With Free Breakfast!)

Hilton Hotels wants you to make a "great" escape with them this summer and while Hilton is not typically our go-to choice, the deal is very attractive.
Hilton has put nearly all of their brands on sale for stays from May 28 to September 6 and they are throwing in free breakfast daily.
"The Great Getaway" has officially launched today and guests can save up to 30 percent off at more than 2,800 participating Hilton Hotels if they book their stay before July 15.
How much you save depends on the brand you book. The Doubletree brands have up to 30 percent off their best available rates. Hilton hotels have up to 25 percent off while Hilton Garden Inns, Conrad Hotels, Waldorf Astoria Hotels, Hampton, Hilton Grand Vacations and Homewood Suites are at 20 percent off their best available rate. Typically, Embassy Suites hotels do not participate in this deal but there are some that will give 20 percent off.
We did a search for Chicago the weekend of June 11-13 since we're considering a trip there and these are the rates we found:

Jetblue Partners with Hilton for TrueBlue Points. Yes, Hilton

JetBlue has done some pretty cool things lately from Cheap Tweets to Sample Sales, $10 fares and giving away free stuff on the streets in NYC. But we're finding it hard to get excited about the latest news regarding their TrueBlue loyalty program.
The airline has teamed up with Hilton Hotels and the HHonors program. The good news here is that you can earn TrueBlue points everytime you stay in a Hilton-branded hotel, from Waldorf-Astoria hotels to Homewood Suites. It also works in reverse, meaning you can take your HHonors points and use them for JetBlue travel.
Right now, the program is allowing members to earn both HHonors points and one TrueBlue point for every $1 spent during the double points launch promotion from now through July 15. Plus HHonors has no blackout dates or capacity controls so it's a little more friendlier than other hotel deals.
But Hilton, really?

Now That The Olympics are Over, Hilton Hotels Are Helping Olympians Get Hired

Members of Team USA's Olympics team kicking it on the Today Show.
While Evan Lysacek may have his sights on being a hotel mogul in the vein on Andre Balazs, other Olympic and Paralympics athletes with a desire to get into the hospitality industry can look to Hilton Hotels for some career guidance.

Various positions range from front desk, bell desk and concierge positions, to kitchen staff, marketing, accounting and other corporate and on-property positions.
With more than 3,150 Hilton Worldwide hotels in the United States and more than 30 corporate or regional offices, athletes can secure jobs without having to leave their desired training destination.
So you never know who might be greeting you at your next stay with Hilton. And if you're lucky, maybe they will show off their medals too.

Hilton Tosses Points, IHG Pulls Up Quick To Retrieve 'Em (And HHonors Members)

So our headline featuring a Sir Mix-a-lot line doesn't quite work but the situation is the same--Hilton Hotels began devaluing some of their HHonors points back on January 15 to the outrage of many devoted Hilton guests and Intercontinental Hotel Group (IHG) is pulling up quick to retrieve 'em.
IHG just launched a new "Luckiest Loser" contest, aimed specifically at HHonors members. Here's how it works:
· HHonors Members must also be members of the IHG's Priority Club Rewards.
· Members need to tell PCR just how many points they lost.
· PCR will automatically give back 1,000 bonus points.
· The top 20,000 "losers" will earn back 20 percent of the Hilton points they lost. The biggest Luckiest Loser will earn 2 million in loyalty points. That's enough to stay at IHG for free for nearly three months!

Score $10K and Free Stays With the HHonors Online Race
American Express has just teamed up with Hilton to kick off an "interactive online race" which is kind of like the Amazing Race except involving virtual travel instead of actual travel that can result in some seriously impressive Hilton prizes for you (and six other people!)
The "Advance Your World Challenge" launched on March 1st and is meant to promote the new Hilton HHonors American Express Surpass Card and it seems to promote some online competition too:
The Challenge is made up of seven thrilling race courses around the globe that participants navigate using iconic vehicles in each destination, including a taxi cab in New York City, a motorcycle in Tokyo, a gondola in Venice, and a paraglider in Costa Rica. As online world travelers proceed through a course, they collect randomly placed icons that represent and provide information about the benefits of the Hilton HHonors Card from American Express [...] Collecting an icon can help to improve a player’s race time by allowing the player to go faster, providing invincibility to obstacles, or even subtracting from the user’s overall final time.

In Which We Do Our Holiday Shopping at the HHonors Rewards Store
Have you checked out the Hilton Honors Rewards store lately? Because we just popped in for the first time and no joke: if we had enough HHonors Points racked up, we could do all of our holiday shopping here. Um, we definitely don't have enough points to do so (and that HDTV for pops would set us back over a million points), but let's forget about that for a moment and allow us to take you on a guided tour through the presents we would buy for everyone.
