'Comfort Inn Ending' Might Not Be a Happy Ending But It's Still a Song Shout-Out

May 9, 2014 at 10:39 AM | by | Comments (0)

Finally, it's not the Holiday Inn getting all the shout-out in pop songs.

Comfort Inn is getting a big-up in this new song from Jhené Aiko who equates Comfort Inn with a happy ending...of sorts. Actually, well, not really at all since the sad song is about heartbreak and unrequited love and she sets some of her ex's stuff on fire. Eep. Here are the lyrics in case your boss doesn't like you watching music videos at work.

Really, we had the perfect, end
That night we shared at the Comfort Inn
We made love like the world would have ended
If either of us had admitted..
We were in love
But I was the only one..
I was the only lonely one..

It's no classic Sugarhill Gang jam but at least it's getting the Comfort Inn brand in the mind of millennials, right?

Things at Comfort Inns are starting to get a little more comfortable.

The affordable hotel brand is in the midst of a massive brand makeover changing everything from the reception desks to the employee uniforms but most importantly, Comfort Inn is overhauling the guest amenities.

Last year, Comfort rolled out their new breakfast (called Your Morning Breakfast) with hot items and flavored waffles. By the end of next year, Comfort Inn's Truly Yours bedding program will have upgraded more than 234,000 beds and nearly one million pillows. Guests will even have a choice of a soft or firm pillow.

If You're Into Rachael Ray, You'll Dig Into This Comfort Inn Promo

July 21, 2009 at 3:43 PM | by | Comments (0)

We realize that not everyone is a Rachael Ray fan. We get that. She can be, uh, grating, and the cutesy acronyms like "EVOO" and catchphrases like "Yum-O" are not for everybody. But! We know she's got a loyal following, her magazine seems to be doing okay, her E! True Hollywood Story was surprisingly endearing and she remains ubiquitous on our TV, so we'll pass along this info to those of you who are keeping her on our radar: Comfort Inn is offering a Rachael Ray-themed "girlfriend getaway." Oh, yeah, we forgot to mention that you should probably have some friends in mind that might be into RR, too.

But you've gotta win the package: Now through August 27th, you can log on to this siteand enter for their chance to win the "ultimate girlfriend getaway."

The goods: a trip for four to New York City to attend a taping of the Rachael Ray Show (woohoo!), as well as roundtrip airfare for four, two-nights accommodations at a Comfort Inn hotel and $2,000 in cash-money for a shopping spree. Which, like, usually just ends up being a bunch of fancy spices and olive oils from gourmet shops that you will use for one recipe and then probably never again, right?

Apple Core Hotels Postpone Kids' Post-Holiday Meltdown

December 4, 2007 at 9:00 AM | by | Comments (0)

Just when Junior's coming down from his Christmas-induced toy euphoria, postpone the inevitable tantrum with a trip to New York City. From January 2 through February 14th, Apple Core Hotels, a co-branded initiative of midtown Manhattan properties, is offering parents an out. For $150 a night, guests get a night's stay and a free stuffed animal making session at the Toys "R" Us Times Square.

After, the little guy can drag his new companion along for a ride on the 60-foot Ferris Wheel, or on a stroll through Barbie's two-story, dollhouse, depending on his disposition. The Apple Core group includes the La Quinta Inn Manhattan, Red Roof Inn Manhattan, the Comfort Inn Midtown, Super 8 Hotel Times Square, and the Ramada Inn East Side.

Apple Core Hotels Give More 'Free' Amenities To Budget-Conscious Travelers

November 5, 2007 at 3:31 PM | by | Comments (0)

The average room rate for NYC hotel has recently surpassed $300. Ouch! But the Apple Core Hotels group is offering some perks to make your trip to NYC a little more bearable.

Their hotels are offering guests free in-room NY state and toll-free phone calls. The hotels also offer complimentary wifi in guest rooms and public areas, daily breakfast (with Red Bull energy drinks!) and complimentary use of the fitness rooms.

Now here's the catch. Apple Core hotels aren't the swankiest in town. They include very budget chain properties such as the La Quinta Inn Manhattan, the Red Roof Inn Manhattan, the smoke-free Comfort Inn Midtown, the Super 8 Hotel Times Square, and the Ramada Inn East Side. However, these hotels aren't getting such bad reviews on TripAdvisor, compared to their counterparts along US highways. In fact, we were pretty surprised at the praise the Comfort Inn Midtown had gotten.

Sky-High Hotel Rates Causing Biz Travelers to Get Creative

November 10, 2006 at 10:57 AM | by | Comments (0)

As average hotel rates hit $304 in Manhattan and $208 in Chicago, analysts say we're hitting the ceiling.

An article in yesterday's USA Today indicates that the urban hotel price escalation in the U.S. may be slowing down soon. The main reason? Customers have started to just say no and look for other alternatives.

The article highlights some business travelers' strategies, such as staying at a colleague's house to avoid paying $400 a night, or staying on the edge of town to avoid central business district rates. You know things have gotten out of hand when a Comfort Inn can charge $200 a night and still have 95% occupancy. That's the current case with the Comfort Inn near the Empire State Building.

There's good news on the horizon though, according to Brad Garner of Smith Travel Research.

Growing resistance from consumers indicates that hotels are nearing "that magic ceiling" for rates, he says. In Manhattan, the USA's most expensive hotel market, the average daily rate reached a record $304 in September, the most recent month for which Smith has numbers.

Even a hotel association president quoted in the article says she is going to end up paying $480 a night in New York. We think we could do better, but in her position she probably can't use Priceline or Hotwire....

Bad Rate: Comfort Inn Sedona for $140 a night

Go To The Hotel's Web
Site Where: 725 SR 179 [map], Sedona, AZ, United States, 86336
October 31, 2006 at 11:41 AM | by | Comments (0)

[Ed. Note: This is the Bad Rate in our Good Rate/Bad Rate feature. This rate was valid on October 31, 2006 and is subject to change. Enjoy.]

Let's see, a suite in a resort on a golf course for under $100, or a roadside motel for $140 at the Comfort Inn Sedona.

We freely admit to bunking down at a Comfort Inn now and then. If you just want a bed and a shower before you get back on the road, they do the job--and give you free wireless Internet access and ice. When you're on vacation in a beautiful place like Sedona, however--and paying $140 a night for a basic motel room--let's just say it will take more than tai-chi and crystals to make the universe feel aligned.

Supposedly there's a canyon trailhead right next to the motel. But we advise skipping on over to this week's Good Rate instead: The Ridge on Sedona. There you can stretch out with a full suite and a kitchen and have a different walk--onto a golf course. After three nights of staying in better digs, you'll have $120 more dollars left than you would if staying at the Comfort Inn Sedona.
