Mice Check-in to a Space Hotel Before Humans Do
There's always been a lot of talk about Space Hotels opening in the near future but it looks like mice--yes, mice--have beaten us humans to the Final Frontier.
MSNBC reports that six mice are shacking up in a little "hotel" inside an international space station:
The small rodents are part of an Italian study investigating the effects of bone loss in space, and researchers have set the mice up in orbital style. "Basically, it's a little hotel," said Joe Delai, Discovery's payload manager, of the cages holding the space mice. "They have a room and a place to eat and sleep."
The mice will stay in their space hotel for three months. The longest any other mouse has lived in space before is 30 days. Other mice have gone on expeditions within space shuttles before but this will be the longest stay in space, proper. Hopefully, keys to the minibar have been confiscated.

Britney Doubles Down on Family Time at The Ritz Carlton Marina Del Rey
2009 is the year we all became reacquainted with a newly-reformed Britney Spears—a grown-up pop princess who grew back her long locks, kept crazy public outbursts to a minimum, and made sure the public knew she was no slacker in the parenting department. We're well-accustomed to seeing paparazzi pictures of Britney with sons Sean Preston and Jayden James, and this past weekend, the happy family threesome spent some quality time as well-monied families are wont to do: with an afternoon by the pool at The Ritz Carlton Marina del Rey.

What Britney Wants From The Dorchester Hotel in London
The Britney Spears comeback train will be taking its show across the pond next month for an eight-show stint at London's 02 Arena and someone at CBS News got a hold of the contract rider given to The Dorchester Hotel for when Brit checks in.
· A room that has "never" been smoked in at all.
· Humidifiers in all areas.
· A selection of the latest magazines.
· A fresh selection of flowers that she will then arrange herself.
· DVDs of her favorite Marilyn Monroe movies.
· Books. Ideally, topical chick lit novels.
· Lighting must be 100 watt bulbs - no low lighting.
· Running routes for nearby Hyde Park. Also, horse-riding opportunities.
· A list of different routes to the venue from the hotel to keep the paparazzi at bay.
Horse-riding opportunities? Flower-arranging? "Topical chick lit novels?" These are hysterical. Since Britney is planning on staying eight days and since the Dorchester is a legendary hotel for celeb breakdowns and panic attacks, we fully expect some drama to happen. Hopefully, for Britney's sake, it won't be too major.

Britney Gets Pampered Poolside at the Mandarin Miami
When in Miami on the latest stop of her tour, miss Britney Spears apparently had no interest in being the center of attention when offstage. It didn't surprise us in the least that the once-troubled (still-troubled?) songstress opted for the Mandarin Oriental Miami to host her during her stay, bypassing some of the trendier, more see-and-be-seen options on South Beach like the Delano, Gansevoort South and The Mandarin — which has been a fave with celebs like Jen Aniston and lovah John Mayer in the past — is a little bit of a drive (about 20 minutes, according to TripAdvisor guests) from most of the action in South Beach, but the Asian-inspired decor and quiet luxury was a bit more conducive to the chill-by-the-pool-with-the-kids type of stay that she was looking for.

Montage Beverly Hills Is On Britney's Radar
As Britney Spears gears up for her upcoming tour, which kicks off this March in New Orleans, the back-on-her-feet pop princess seems to be doing a bit less of the Frapuccino-guzzling, flipping-off-paps stuff and has been engaging in more... grown up, big-girl things.
She's been laying low lately to get into fighting shape before she hits the road, and according to PopSugar, she took a bit of time to hit up the brand new Montage Beverly Hills with her mom. From PopSugar's pics, it looks like she and her mom were in the hotel's tea room (Also: If we swap our Frapuccinos for tea, will we get abs like Britney's new ones?)
Perhaps the ladies were discussing what's up next for Brit-Brit's hairdo — maybe the two were getting ready to pay a little visit to Brit's hairstylist, Kim Vo, who has a salon in the hotel.

It's Britney, Bitch(ing)
In case you missed it, Britney Spears' epic MTV Documentary (yes, we realize that is an oxymoron), "On the Record," aired last night. While we were not physically able to reach into the screen and scoop out Britney to take her home and soothe her crying, we were able to notice that parts of the documentary were filmed at the Mondrian LA. Lots of teary gazing out the window went down; not a whole lot else.
Later on, we spotted her seeking refuge from the paps at Soho Grand after a New York shopping experience turned into a bit of a mob scene.

Thrillist Parties at The Mirage, Just Misses Britney Spears
The boys over at Thrillist took their party skills to Las Vegas for 36-hours, partnering up with JetBlue to fly a planeload of bloggers as a way to promote their newest email newsletter edition, Thrillist Las Vegas.
After a flight of in-flight WiFi on the BetaBlue plane, the bloggers landed in Sin City and checked into The Mirage.

PM Linkage: Not Every Day in a Hotel is Magical
Hotels are often thought of as places to escape from your everyday life. Places to have memorable experiences whether in the room or outside. Whether you're on a beach or in a busy city, hotels are supposed to be your safe haven.
But of course, this is real life and not an American Express commercial. Shit happens.
And it seems to happen more and more in these parts for Britney Spears. Word is that the Beverly Hills Hotel has blacklisted her. This is obviously good news for us but not the bit where Page Six mentions Britney typically ignores these type of bans. Is any place in LA safe anymore?

The Beverly Hills Hotel Unfortunate Site of Britney's Escape from Psych Ward
One unlucky hotel had to host Britney Spears after she escaped from the mental ward yesterday and it looks like The Beverly Hills Hotel drew the short stick.
Spears was released yesterday around noon and by 2pm she was causing havoc on the streets of Los Angeles by driving around (with windows down) enticing the paparazzi to take some pics of her.
The scene at the hotel was even worse than what was on the streets. Yes, we know this is Britney Spears and most all of her hotel "stays" are dramatic but this one especially so.
OK! Magazine reports in their timeline of Britney's first day of freedom:
4:40 p.m.: The singer's boyfriend, Adnan Ghalib, arrives at the Beverly Hills Hotel in his Mercedes convertible and is rushed up to Britney's room by security guards.
4:47 p.m.: Six LAPD officers arrived at the hotel. Rumors begin to circulate that Britney's parents are on their way to have her sent back to the hospital.
Later that night at 9pm Britney's dad arrives at the hotel to take her back home. Meanwhile the place is full of cops and security guards hanging around the valet parking area, the lobby and the second floor.
So much for a luxurious peaceful stay in Beverly Hills for anyone who was staying there on an actual vacation.

Britney Spears Drops in on the Sofitel Los Angeles
We've been so good about not covering Britney Spears' daily trips to Los Angeles hotels as per our New Years resolution but this time she and her ever-present pack of paparazzi hit up a hotel that wasn't either one of the Four Seasons.
Nope, Britney and her stalker-turned-manager Osama Lufti dropped in on the Sofitel Los Angeles yesterday, according to X17 Online. No word on what she was doing there but she certainly wasn't thinking about her kids. If she was, she would be laying low and doing whatever she could to get custody back but hotel stays and shopping trips covered by the paparazzi are just like, really important y'all.
Interestingly enough, we also noticed that the Sofitel's misspelled blog has been removed from the hotel's website. We guess the hotel heard your "toughts" and decided against running a blog.

2007 Best Celebrity Performance at a Hotel: Britney Spears
Ooops, she did it again. Britney Spears has captured the Best Celebrity Performance Award for the second year in a row.
2007 was not kind to Britney. She shaved her head. She entered rehab. She dated men who later sold their stories to tabloid magazines and newspapers. She bombed at the VMAs and she nearly lost full custody of her kids.
But in the midst of all this craziness she found time to visit several Los Angeles area hotels. To date, she has forced the Britney Spears manic-depressive tornado on the following Los Angeles area hotels (and during a fateful night at Wynn Las Vegas), all of which we doubt will ever be the same:
· Four Seasons Beverly Wilshire
We have no clue what she is doing in these hotels especially since she has two other homes in the area. But our sources say she makes good use of the spas (having even passed out in the steam room at one of the luxury hotel spas). Other folks speculate these hotels may be areas to meet up with drug dealers but we really hope not. Let's pray that 2008 is kinder to L.A. hotels.

Britney Spears Officially Banned from Four Seasons Hotel?
Britney Spears may now be officially banned from the Four Seasons Hotel on Doheny Ave.
TMZ is reporting that the hotel has had about enough with the trainwreck and her ever-present paparazzi entourage. And now that her 16-year-old sister Jamie-Lynn Spears is pregnant, the media attention won't be dying down anytime soon.TMZ writes:
We hear guests of the five-star establishment are fed up with all the unwanted attention drawn to their usually relaxing digs; an entrance swarming with feeding paparazzi is not exactly inviting.
On top of that, the spectacle that is Miss Spears has been garnering so much negative press around her erratic rendezvous, that the hotel no longer desires to host the wayward popwreck.
The hotel attempted last week to block her from parking in their underground garage by herself and now it looks like they might be blacklisting her entirely.
Although TMZ said "when one door closes -- try the Peninsula!" that's actually not true in Brit's case as she has been blacklisted from this Beverly Hills hotel as well. For now, she's been hiding out at the Raffles L'ermitage despite having two houses in LA to go home to. Who knows how long this will last? But Britney, if you're looking for a hotel replacement why don't you try Thompson Beverly Hills? We bet they would take you.
