Palihouse Santa Monica Is Now Officially Open
When we toured the Palihouse Santa Monica a few months back, the hotel was still in the middle of transforming the old Embassy Hotel Apartments near Santa Monica's Third Street Promenade into hotelier Avi Brosh's vision for "Palihouse at the Beach."
But now the hotel is ready to show off its incredible design.
Here's a bunch of photos we've received from the hotel of the lobby and a guestroom. Take a minute and browse through these shots. We think you'll like.
Room categories are classic rooms, studio suites and one and two-bedroom "residences." Rates range from about $350 to $1,500 per night. But remember, that includes free WiFi, AppleTV, Dean & Deluca minibar treats and finally, a chic and sophisticated place to stay in Santa Monica.

A Palihouse Hotel Will Open in Santa Monica This June
**A HOTELCHATTER EXCLUSIVE**
Los Angeles' Westside is finally getting the hip, urban hotel it desperately needs and just in time for summer, too.
Avi Brosh, the hard-working hotelier behind the Palihouse West Hollywood and the budget chic Palihotel on Melrose Avenue, has quietly snapped up the old Embassy Hotel Apartments near the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica. The spot will reopen this June as The Palihouse Santa Monica.
We didn't know the building was up for sale, let alone sold off to Brosh but he and his Paligroup team have already begun renovating the rooms. Billed as a 36-room "beach lodge", the hotel will have four room categories--classic guest suites, studio residences, one-bedroom residences and two-bedroom residences.
The classic rooms will be more of a typical hotel room size, ranging from 300-500sq.ft. while the "residences" will start at 600-sq.ft. and go up to 2,850-sq.ft. All but a few of the rooms will have kitchenettes, there's complimentary wired and wireless internet for all, Samsung 40" flat-screen TVs, AppleTV, and Dean & Deluca minibar treats.

Sneak Peek at The Palihotel Melrose, Opening Tomorrow
The sneak peeks continue as HotelChatter contributing editor Eric Rosen got a look inside Palihotel Melrose in Los Angeles, which officially opens tomorrow.
The hotel is a sort of spin-off to hotelier Avi Brosh's Palihouse Holloway in West Hollywood except it's gone a bit of a different direction. There's only 32 rooms but the hotel makes the most of each space with Dean & DeLuca treats in the minibar, ladders with hangers on them double as the "closet", footstools work as nightstands and in the bath are fun prints on the shower curtains and Palihotel-branded toiletries.
The hotel also features a six-bedroom Thai massage place (massages start at $35 fr 30 minutes), a two-seat blow-dry salon and the Palikitchen restaurant which serves coffee, toasted sandwiches, and sundry food and beauty products (The restaurant will actually be opening next month.)
Interested in booking a room? Rates for tomorrow night are at a limited time special of $149 a night. After that, they bump up to $250 a night. We also hear that the balcony rooms on the second floor have great views of Melrose or the hills or of Hayworth. Additionally, the plants on each balcony are in individual, customized arrangements from Rolling Greens Nursery.

The Palihotel on Melrose Now Opening February 1st
A few months ago we discussed the second coming of the Palihotel on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles from hotelier Avi Brosh. The 32-room hotel with a "European inn" vibe was set to open in February and guess what, it's actually opening on the very first day of next month.
The hotel's website is touting a pre-opening special of $150 a night but for February 1, we could only find rooms at $199 a night for a queen bedroom. Meanwhile Jetsetter.com is hyping stays for just $115 a night on February 1st. Definitely the better deal here. (The flash sale site is also saying the hotel is "Just Opened" but we swear it's not opening until February 1.)

Hotelier Avi Brosh Returns with Palihotel Melrose Avenue, Opening in February
Three years after opening his stylish extended-stay hotel, Palihouse Holloway in West Hollywood, and over a year after ceding his vision for Palihouse Hollywood to Sam Nazarian's SBE empire, Los Angeles hotelier Avi Brosh is once again back on top with the Palihotel on Melrose Avenue opening in February 2012.
The 32-room boutique hotel is envisioned as a "European neighborhood inn" which is quite the opposite of the Palihouse Holloway, specifically regarding the size of the guestrooms. Where Palihouse rooms start at 600-sq.ft., the rooms at Palihotel will measure about 250-sq.ft. and come in Twin or Queen categories.
And while rooms at Palihouse have little kitchenettes, guests at the Palihotel will instead head down to the Palikitchen, a coffee shop/cafe that will service breakfast, lunch and dinner in a self-service format.
Of course, the trade-off is that rooms at the Palihotel will be crazy affordable, starting at $150 a night.

Bistrotek Is Not Your Usual Airport Hotel Restaurant
UPDATE: Bistrotek is apparently closed for renovations. We will update you on when it reopens.
It used to be that if you were traveling and wanted a good meal, you’d go anywhere but an airport hotel. Usually those sorts of places were mere way-stations for travelers too jetlagged to care how bland or unoriginal the food was.
No more. Along with the renaissance of boutique hotels around the country, has come an equally impressive burgeoning of restaurants, bistros and brasseries, even at airport hotels like Avi Brosh’s monolithic black Custom Hotel on Lincoln Boulevard, just a little over a mile from Los Angeles International Airport.
That’s where you’ll find Bistrotek, Chef Paul Arias’s bastion of nouvelle comfort food, and the Westside’s answer to more showy restaurants farther east.

Inside the Palihouse Holloway
Yesterday, we gave you a sneak peek of the newly opened Palihouse Hotel in West Hollywood--a new twist on the extended-stay concept from hotelier Avi Brosh.
Now feast your eyes on this. This is a video tour of the corner suite on the 2nd floor, overlooking Santa Monica Boulevard and our favorite hangout spot, Barney's Beanery. But even if this room was mired in anti-views, we would still have lots to make us happy.
Check-out that kitchen! And the sitting area! And the bed! Don't forget the C.O. Bigelow bath products! Or the washer and dryer! (Ok, that bit you can't see as it's hidden.)
We know we sound overly excited about this place but since we see a lot of hotels for this gig, this is one of the few urban properties in recent memory that has made us giddy.

The other day we were able to tour the just-opened Palihouse West Hollywood, a new concept in extended-stay from hotelier Avi Brosh, the man behind the Custom Hotel.
We actually don't want to call this place an extended-stay hotel because it's just way too cool for that sort of corporate terminology.
Essentially, Brosh took all that he liked about independent boutique hotels (like the Mercer, the Bowery, THOR and UK's Firmdale hotels) and mashed them together with his own little twist. For instance, he's hand-picked every item in all the rooms and public spaces and he and his team custom-designed the furniture.
This here is the reception area which is tucked off to the side when one first enters the building. Already, you can see this place is very different from any other extended-stay brand.
