Here's Why You May Want to Factor In a Bahrain Trip Next Year

Bahrain: top of your travel list? No, us neither. But here’s something that’s rocketing it swiftly upwards: news of the new Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay, due to open early next year.

The hotel will be in Manama, the capital. But that’s massively underselling it – actually, the hotel will sit on its own, 12-acre, manmade private island, with terraces, pools and gardens landscaped around the 68-story hotel. Oh, and did we mention it’s modeled on the grand ocean liners of the 1930s? They promise “art deco accents and a calming color palette” throughout. Those floor-to-ceiling windows and that carpet are certainly soothing us right now. As is the fact that it’s 75 degrees there right this second.

Once you’ve made it onto the island (via water taxi, boat or private causeway), there will be 216 rooms and 57 suites, all with panoramic views of either the skyline or the Arabian Gulf, as well as a bi-level “sky bridge” with restaurants and event space. Bahraini artwork will be scattered throughout the hotel.

Beverly Hills Hotel and Hotel Bel-Air Pampers Guests for Oscars

January 30, 2013 at 1:48 PM | by | Comments (0)

It's Oscar time! Or, as they say in Los Angeles hotels, "award season," which is equivalent to "high season" everywhere else outside of Tinsel Town so good luck getting a room. Oh, and you'll never see so much neck craning in hotel lobbies in your life. We've seen "normal" people throw on a cute outfit and dark shades just to get their five minutes. But we know our readers are much more fancier.

In honor of award season, the Dorchester Collection's Hotel Bel-Air and the Beverly Hills Hotel are giving guests the opportunity to experience a red-carpet moment with special amenities and themed packages that celebrate perhaps the only thing Hollywood looks forward to in February. This only happens once a year, people, so pay attention and start booking!

If you happen to be using the AKA Beverly Hills as an extended stay haven while in LA ( and who wouldn't with all these perks?) you can now add ritzy-room service to the amenities offered.

The brand has joined with culinary wunderkind Wolfgang Puck to create Spago in-Suite. This is the first "room-service" type venture for the chef. Now, Each AKA full-service suite will include a menu featuring items from Puck's flagship Beverly Hills restaurant Spago. In addition to the well-loved favorites (pizza!) there will be a rotating list of daily specialty entrees (perhaps the liberty duck breast with pear-mustard raisin compote) to commemorate Puck's 30 year anniversary and Spago's new menu.

We had the pleasure of being invited to the recent Savor Borgata Event in Atlantic City where chefs Bobby Flay, Wolfgang Puck, Michael Mina, Geoffrey Zakarian and others were there presenting food demos and a huge culinary showcase for a crowd we were delighted to see come out in droves to support the city just a week after Hurricane Sandy hit.

We were lucky enough to spend a few minutes interviewing some of the chefs. We talked about some of their holiday plans, and more importantly what’s on their hotel horizon.

We spoke with the personable Wolfgang Puck:

How to Do WP24 at The Ritz-Carlton at LA Live For Less

July 6, 2012 at 1:47 PM | by | Comments (0)

Not much has changed since HotelChatter first experienced WP24, the Wolfgang Puck restaurant atop at the Ritz-Carlton LA Live in downtown Los Angeles.

It's still an intimate setting on the 24th floor of the hotel, there are still amazing city views to take in from your seat, the Modern Asian menu has not changed much and the prices will still shock you with a three-course tasting menu starting at $70 per person, not including drinks or any other items you may want to try (we opted for the fried rice.)

But there's a way to sample WP24 without blowing your budget--hit up The Lounge at WP24 which is larger than the actual restaurant and has killer views all around. More specifically, hit up The Lounge from 5 to 7pm during the Four for $24 special which features a rotating selection of WP24's signature small plates such as Peking Duck Roll, Pork Belly Bao Bun and Shrimp & Lobster Spring Roll, all for $24.

Wolfgang Puck Gets Fresh at The Hotel Bel-Air

Wolfgang Puck is either drinking a lot of red bull these days or he has clones of himself running around the world from one top luxury hotel to the next launching new hotel restaurant concepts.

Fresh off the opening of his CUT Steakhouse at 45 Park Lane, Wolfgang was back in LA to open to his new restaurant at the newly glamorous Hotel Bel-Air. But it's not just one restaurant Wolfgang is running here, it's the entire food and beverage operations.

Anytime you order an appetizer, an entree, dessert or even a late-night snack from room service during your stay at the Bel-Air, Wolfgang has put his hands on it. Ok, well not exactly as he won't always be in the kitchen but it's his culinary vision that's being executed. And a huge part of that vision is freshness.

We went into the kitchen at the Hotel Bel-Air with Wolfgang where he showed us that day's haul from the farmer's market. He's a stickler about having everything as fresh as can be, even to the point where he will ask if the oranges can stay on the tree a little longer. So when you get a fresh fruit basket in your room upon arrival, you can sleep soundly knowing that it's some seriously fresh fruit.

Why You Should Stay at The Hotel Bel-Air on Opening Night

Where: 701 Stone Canyon Road [map], Los Angeles, CA, United States, 90077
September 29, 2011 at 11:57 AM | by | Comments (6)

UPDATE: The hotel is TOTALLY SOLD OUT for the first two weeks. Arrggh. There is a waitlist available and we suggest you get on it if you want to taste some Wolfgang Puck before the rest of the world. Fingers crossed someone drops out!

We can't believe this day is almost near. The Hotel Bel-Air, which closed two years ago for a massive renovation, will be reopening on October 14.

If you're one of the longtime fans of the hotel (and there are many) who can't wait to sleep inside the new rooms, then you probably already booked your reservation when they went online in June. But now there's another incentive for staying at the Hotel Bel-Air on opening night and that's exclusive access to Wolfgang Puck's new restaurant, The Wolfgang Puck at Hotel Bel-Air as well as the new bar and lobby lounge.

These spaces will open to the public on November 1st but hotel guests will be among the first to try them out for two weeks. Yay! We love special guest perks!

Mr. C Hotel to Open June 1 and More LA Hotel News

May 18, 2011 at 10:21 AM | by | Comments (0)

There seems to be a lot of hotel happenings going down in Los Angeles right now. The most important of them all is that the Mr. C Hotel will open June 1, according to a tip. That info is confirmed on the Beverly Hills hotel's website, but our tipster said that it would be ready—completely ready, not pushed back yet again or still sorta under construction—on that date.

If you are dying to check out the new 138-room Mr. C, we found rates for that night at $249. In case you'd rather wait and see what others have to say about the hotel, see what else is going on in L.A. hotels:

As the Hotel Bel-Air readies for its big reopening, one of the new features of the massive renovation is a restaurant from famed chef Wolfgang Puck.

According to Eater, he will set up shop in the newly renovated hotel and call his restaurant the not-very-original Wolfgang Puck at Hotel Bel-Air. At the restaurant, he'll serve contemporary California cuisine with European and Mediterranean touches.

Wolfgang Puck to Open CUT Inside London's 45 Park Lane

CUT in Vegas

We've been so busy tallying up the London Hotel Openings, that we've nearly lost sight of what's actually going inside the hotels. But thankfully, 45 Park Lane has righted us again with their announcement that Wolfgang Puck will open his successful steak restaurant, CUT inside the hotel later this spring.

The first CUT opened at the Four Seasons Beverly Wilshire and was instantly frequented by A-list celebs (TomKat, etc.) That was followed by CUT at The Palazzo in Las Vegas. But even more special for the hotel, aside from having a guaranteed celeb nosh spot, is that this will be Wolfgang's first restaurant in Europe.

It's kinda hard to believe that's never been done before, given how prolific Wolfgang Puck is in America--from LA to Vegas and even on-the-go airport food. Nevertheless, when CUT opens here's a bit on what to expect:
