Chateau Marmont A Little Too Gassy for Lydia Hearst

With the string of celebrities taunting the Mondrian Hotel, it is somewhat refreshing to hear of a celebrity staying at a Sunset Strip hotel who wasn't puking in the bathroom. Except this story does have a crazy celebrity/bad hotel behavior twist.
Media heiress Lydia Hearst recently spent a night at the Chateau Marmont where she told the Page Six she almost died in her sleep thanks to the old-fashioned gas oven which was left on in her sleep.
"I went to bed around midnight on Saturday and didn't wake up until 4 p.m. on Sunday," she said. Hearst asked the hotel to turn the oven off after she saw "the misty, shaky air pour out." She's in L.A. promoting her "Lydia" bag for Puma. "Of course, I'll stay here again," Hearst said. "But can you imagine if I was found dead, naked in bed? It would have been me and John Belushi who died here!"
Hmm...we don't quite think people would flock to the CM to see where Lydia Hearst "died" especially if she was the one who forgot to turn off the gas in the first place.
However, we do think that Andre Balazs should start updating these suite kitchenettes. We've seen some of the CM ones and they are novel-looking but remember the ones at his dark secret hotel shame Sunset Beach? Those are fire hazards waiting to happen.

How Much More Celebrity Vomit Can the Mondrian Hotel Take?

It's official: The Mondrian Hotel is under attack from crazy out of control celebs. London's Sun newspaper is reporting that just before Britney Spears put out her latest letter of truth on her fan club website (and after Lindsay Lohan melted down at the hotel), Britney had to be carried out of the men's bathroom at the hotel's Sky Bar on Sunday night covered in vomit.
The singer disappeared to the bathroom just an hour after arriving at the Mondrian Hotel's swanky Sky Bar with five friends. And it wasn't long before hotel security got a call saying she needed urgent help.
My source said: "Britney was found slumped over the toilet bowl with make-up smeared over her face and her wig hanging off. "She had a room booked at the hotel but was too ill to stay and was begging her bodyguard to take her home.
Brit Brit also managed to apologize to staffers saying, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry. Things aren't going well for me at the moment."
Now, if we were in charge of running the ultra-swank Promises rehab center we might want to switch up the curriculum a bit. Meanwhile, it looks like Britney is not prepared to give up her HotelChatter Best Celebrity Performance Award without a fight. So top that, Lindsay!

Lindsay Lohan's Memorial Weekend Meltdown at the Mondrian Hotel

It seems as if it's a prerequisite for young stars these days to have meltdowns at luxury hotels. And the Mondrian Hotel in Los Angeles has been the victim of at least three. First there was Britney Spears. Then there was Jesse Metcalf. And now we have Lindsay Lohan.
Just before she crashed into shrubbery and fled the scene of the accident (leaving Beverly Hills police to track her down at a Century City hospital and subsequently finding cocaine in her car), Lohan was begging the Mondrian Hotel to give her a room. The NY Post reports:
"The staff told her they were fully booked for the night, but she was kicking up a real fuss - and said she would pay any price for a suite," the source said. "They told her they were full over and over again, so she asked them to try and book her a room at another hotel before running into the bathroom and leaving."
Well we can totally guess what she did in the bathroom right before leaving. But this kind of shit can't stop Blowhan. The girl was spotted the next night at Teddy's at the Hollywood Roosevelt, where she has already been caught on tape doing blow in that bathroom. These recent events coupled with her meltdown at the Soho Grand put Lindsay Lohan as the front runner for HotelChatter's Best Celebrity Performance Award. Britney Spears better shave her head again if she wants to win this award for 2007.

Jesse Metcalfe Might Be Banned from The Mondrian Hotel

Twice in one month LA's Mondrian Hotel has been subjected to shitty celebrity behavior. First there was Britney's post-head shave leg shave in the hotel pool after she couldn't afford a hotel room and had to borrow bikinis from other guests.
Now, Jesse Metcalfe, the actor most famous for playing a teenaged, shirtless gardener on Desperate Housewives has been "banned" from the hotel for partying too hard and being an ass to the staff. Page Six reports:
DON'T expect to see "Desperate Housewives" star Jesse Metcalfe by the pool at West Hollywood's Mondrian any time soon. According to hotel guests, Metcalfe "was blacklisted" from the Mondrian after "partying for four days straight last week and being really mean to the staff." The last straw came on Friday, when Metcalfe "blew up at the doorman at Skybar because they wouldn't let him in." Metcalfe's bad behavior resulted in him not getting a guest room on Saturday, although a hotel rep claims he has not been officially banned. A rep for Metcalfe had no comment.
Even if the hotel says there has been no official ban, you can sure as hell bet he's going into the blacklists we suspect some hotels keep handy at the front desk. (cough,Standard on Sunset, cough.)

The New 'Friends' of Britney Spears Part With Precious Mondrian Poolside Photos

Now that Britney Spears is safely ensconced in her Malibu rehab center (which operates more like a luxury resort), Us Magazine has decided to publish the pics of Britney and her fair-weather friends hanging poolside at the Mondrian Hotel on Sunset Boulevard.
As we told you before, Brit arrived at the hotel sans a head of hair and credit cards. Despite the crazy behavior reported--crying, intoxicated, shaving by the pool--these pictures actually make her appear a bit tamer than what we first believed. We now know she was still in the middle of an extreme (dare we say manic?) form of crazy, but that girl still looked good!

National Enquirer's Trusty Chateau Marmont Source Strikes Again
Mentioning the Chateau Marmont earlier in the Heard Around the Hotel World story, prompted us to check in on the National Enquirer's column Hollywood After Dark which is almost always full of items of celebs at the legendary Lindsay Lohan residence.
In the name of research and research only, we have begun picking up the National Enquirer on a weekly basis. This is merely to serve you better and has nothing to do whatsoever with our perverted curiosity about Katie Holmes' latest role as a Scientology Stepford wife.
Anyways, last week was a total bust because there were only two items mentioning the CM. But the National Enquirer's paid source must have been on holiday because this week the column comes back to life with a whopping 7 of 10 items about celebrities at the CM.
Here is the full round-up. For those of you at home following along, please flip to page 14 of the January 29, 2007 issue. We have:
· Sienna Miller eating "looking absolutely beautiful" on Jan. 8.
· Lindsay Lohan (pre-rehab of course) the same day cursing at the valet because it was taking too long.
· Borat was there on Jan. 9 with fiancee Isla Fisher having dinner. Apparently Sacha Baron Cohen is way better-looking in real life.
· Nicky Hilton leaving the ladies room and bumping into a waiter without apologizing.
· Jennifer Connelly leaving the hotel's lobby with friends, looking "fantastic".
· Molly Shannon was there too having drinks with a male friend, conversation was described as "serious."
· Jan. 9 was a big day because M. Night Shyamalan was also there at dinner, looking "dark and mysterious."
In our brief analysis of the items here, most of which involve food and drink, we think the National Enquirer's paid source is either a waiter or a bartender who is either dating or is good friends with a valet staffer.
Then again, we wouldn't put it past the National Enquirer to store somebody in a vent above the dining room.
Got a hint as to who might be doing the NE's dirty work? Better yet, are you the tabloid's Deep Throat? Let us know and we'll post your comments.

True Hollywood Hotel Story: The Standard LA, Part Two

[Ed. Note: Jaunted editor Davie continues her story here about why the Standard Hotel in LA was one of the most important hotels in her life. That is, until she got blacklisted. Enjoy.]
Part 2 of 2
Like Britney and K-Fed, or Pam and Kid, all the great whirlwind romances of our time seem to crash and burn eventually.
Yesterday, I told you about how the Standard became the most important hotel in my life. Today, I'm here to tell you the story of our breakup. I was dumped with a big, resounding "It's not me, it's you." Ouch.
As I was departing for LAX the weekend we met Steve, my friends and I vowed to not only return there, but to spread the gospel of room 154 and build our own scene on Sunset. I live in New York, and the rest of the group in LA, so we couldn't wait to get back together.
A few months later, I returned to LA for my birthday and booked myself into the Standard. You know the room number. I called my friends and we called Steve. He had left us the number of a stolen pager he kept. I don't quite remember whether it was disconnected or he simply never got back to us; either way, we never heard from him again.
The second night I was there, the old crew regrouped and started making calls. I guess you could say we were organizing a party, but our intention wasn't to trash the room or anything. We decided that if we got any complaints, we'd simply move to the hotel bar. Not that we expected there to be a problem--the Standard wanted that party hotel reputation, right? I still have a hard time believing they didn't.
More on room 154 after the jump.

True Hollywood Hotel Story: The Standard LA, Part 1

[Ed. Note: We have a very special treat this morning as Jaunted editor Davie shares with us why the Standard LA is the most important hotel in her life. Enjoy.]
Part 1 of 2
I don't "do" t-shirts, but have this habit of rolling up the sleeves of my hoodie no matter what the weather is. I have a few tattoos, but there's one on my left wrist that, because it's the lowest on my arm, is perpetually exposed. Once in a while, people will ask me about it.
I come from a Jewish family; a former boss once told me she never asked about the numbers on my wrist because she presumed them to be "some Jew thing" (that's not an exact quotation). No! So, lest you think the association is so heavyhearted, I'd like to do some explaining.
"154": It's the best room at the Standard in West Hollywood. If I remember correctly, it's in the "X-Large" booking category. I guess because it's a corner room, it has an abnormally huge balcony.
The room is dope, no doubt (at least I used to think so), but the tattoo has less to do with the space itself and more to do with what happened in it. Long story short, Room 154 is where the best friendships of my life were solidified.
Learn more about Room 154 after the jump.

Live Hotel Look: The Answer Is...

...The Sunset Tower Hotel.
Just in case you were wondering what the answer to this question was.
Yup, the same place where Iggy Pop use to jump from the windows many stories up, into the swimming pool, allegedly.
No, we didn't attempt an Iggy Pop, but we have a damn good reason.
Look for our full fledged Sunset Tower hotel review tomorrow.
