Do Summer Santa Monica-Style On The Cheap at Viceroy's Whist
Whist, the restaurant at the swank Viceroy Santa Monica Hotel, is bringing back its poolside summer specials, including “Summer Fridays” (a nice alternative for those of us who don't get 'em at work) and “Taste of Tuesdays.”
Since Memorial Day Weekend is the unofficial start of summer, Summer Fridays begin today with a 4-hour happy hour from 2-6pm. For the 2 o’clock hour, drinks are just $2; at 3:00, they cost $3, and so on. There is also a new bar food menu including fried chicken and biscuit sliders for $2, and oysters on the half shell for $3. Summer Fridays will run through August 28.

Standard LA's Summertime Rooftop Parties Start This Weekend
Alright, if you're not down with booze sno-cones with the hipster crowd at the Ace Palm Springs 'cause a swanky LA rooftop is more your speed, we've got happy news for you: this Saturday and Sunday mark the beginnings of the Standard LA's monthly rooftop parties, Honey on the Rooftop and Compression.
Every third Saturday this summer, The Honey Collective, a Los Angeles-based all-female DJ and Production team, provides the soundtrack to a rooftop soiree dubbed "Honey on the Rooftop" from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The first of the summer is going down tomorrow and if you can't read a calendar, June 6th, June 27th, July 18th, August 8th, August 29th and September 19th are your other chances to catch this party.
If Sunday drinking sessions are more your jam, this Sunday kicks off Compression which is a rooftop pool party that is apparently so awesome that it can only happen once a month. On the 3rd Sunday of each month this summer (not every three weeks), you can get down to a "worldly blend of Techno, including Tech-House and Minimal" (er, we're sure someone knows what that means) and guest DJ's in addition to residents. This Sunday, you've got Ivan Smagghe, Amber Reyngoudt and Compression Resident DJ's Robtronik, Matt Xavier, and Andre Ezer. This is also running 1:00 to 8:00.
And, yes: you have to be 21+ to get in. Sorry, kiddos.

Johnny Drama Hosting Super Bowl Blowout at Seminole Hard Rock
We're not just telling you about this because it's cool to know where celebs are hanging out, but because you can actually still score tickets to this event on Ticketmaster.com for the not-so-low price of $125.00 (we just tried and we were able to get all the way to checkout): Kevin Dillon, a.k.a. Johnny Drama from Entourage, is hosting the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel's Super Bowl bash down in Tampa tomorrow night.
The Revolution party is being held inside of Floyd's Nightclub in The Seminole Hard Rock, and celeb (we use that term loosely) appearances include model/actor Boris Kodjoe, Khloe Kardashian, model Claudia Jordan and Playboy girl Vida Guerra. The DJ seriously will apparently be Playboy's 50th Anniversary Playmate Colleen Shannon (plus South Beach's DJ Selfborn).
Doors open up at 10:00 pm and the party goes til 6 in the morning on Saturday, which should give you adequate time to recover all day to gear up for Sunday's game. Also, dudes: no jerseys in the club which should be a general rule always and forever, but the party invites actually specify that you leave 'em at home tomorrow night. More info on the soiree here.
And, uh, tell Johnny to tell Eric we said "what's up."

Free Booze on The Gansevoort Hotel's Pool Deck Tomorrow
Imagine that you are a hip hotel in New York's Meatpacking District with a rooftop pool deck but a lack of debaucherous partiers because it is December. How do you bring in the hot bodies and maintain your status through the winter? The answer, of couse, is FREE BOOZE, which is exactly what the Hotel Gansevoort is having tomorrow (Saturday) from 12-5pm at Plunge, their roof deck event spot.

Your Unrefined Offspring Can Learn a Thing or Two From Taj Boston
That seven-year-old child of yours has no business running around, playing with toys, shouting, screaming, touching food with his fingers or even speaking out of turn. Heaven forbid your child actually act like a child your offspring should be seen and not heard. Right? Maybe?
Well, in the event that you do share these sentiments, you may be inclined to get your personal assistant (or butler or whatever) on the phone to snatch up a spot for your child at a Taj Boston's "Social Style for Children" class and turn your kid into a manners machine.
For $120 per youngin' (including a four-course meal which we hope consists of kid-friendly foods like macaroni and chicken fingers), Susan Cole of Boston Assemblies has teamed up with the Taj Boston to refine those uncivilized children of yours into impeccably-behaved young ladies and gentlemen.

Sex Pistols Founder to Screen Sex Movie at The Standard Miami
Malcolm McLaren, whom you may remember as the founder of the Sex Pistols, has moved from Sex Pistols to, er, sex scenes: he's put together a very, very sexy feature-length video work and has chosen to screen it at -- shocker -- The Standard Miami (we can't imagine how this fits with the vibe there).
As part of their "Love Life" program (a series of Sunday events that provide guests and locals "an opportunity to enjoy film, art, and community"), there will be a screening of McLaren's "Shallow" on Sunday, November 9th at 8 pm.
A lil' bit about the film:
“Shallow” is a feature-length color video art work consisting of individual film clips sourced from erotic films of the late 1960s. Devised as a series of “musical paintings” in alternating slow motion tempos and precise edits, McLaren deliberately selected moments immediately preceding or following sex scenes—extending a handful of frames into nearly still portraits of seduction and artifice.
We don't know about you, but watching clips of erotic films in a room full of people isn't really our steeze. But maybe we could stand to expose ourselves to a little bit of culture, no?
