You know when you’re on the couch watching
the Kardashians your favorite TV show, and you want to get up to get drinks/food/an empty bladder, but you don’t want any of that quite enough to get up and move?
You do? Good. The W New York Union Square has just the package for you.
As the name suggests, the new Sunday Binge Watch package is especially designed for couch potatoes. You get your two welcome cocktails (or a basket of beer) in-room. You get a basket filled with movie theater-appropriate candy and snacks. And you get an Apple TV with access to up to three full seasons of the following TV shows: Orange is the New Black, Mad Men, Homeland, Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead and Sex and the City.
You know “downward dog.” You know “warrior,” “tree,” and “lotus.” Now here’s a new yoga position for you: “Mime stuck in traffic.”
On Wednesday, May 28, W Hotels will host a roving promotion for its “FIT with Tara Stiles” program. Stiles, a yoga guru with her own burgeoning mini-empire, will truck around town inside a glass box, demonstrating for passerby and easily distracted Manhattan cabbies the in-room poses and workouts she designed for W travelers. (Think: twists for hangover detox, and the hip-opening pigeon pose to put a jetlag-defeating sashay in your step.)
Departing from the W New York at 11 AM, Stiles' glass-encased effort is described by the W as “one part performance art and one part yoga instruction,” and thus finally sheds some light on the meaning of Tilda Swinton’s MoMA show: She was just in shavasana, guys.
Obviously this is a sight you’d want to snap and upload to your social media (caption: WTF?) anyway. But W is also rewarding amateur shutterbugs like so: snap a photo of Stiles or yourself doing a yoga pose in a unique location, then upload it to Instagram (@WHotels) with the hashtag #POSEWHENEVER. You’ll get a chance to win a spot at the “FIT with Tara Stiles” retreat at the W Bali, which includes — who cares, it’s Bali, baby.
To help you cheat, they’ve shared with us the truck’s schedule, below. Even if we don’t make it to Bali, we always appreciate a head-turning promotional idea. If nothing else, it makes for a good neck stretch.
D'USSEis the cognac that makes Beyonce and Jay-Z all drunk in love (and Solange possibly all violent) but you don't need to be a rap superstar to enjoy it. Instead, just pop into a W Hotel in New York.
The hotel collection is now offering a D’USSE de Leche, a cognac-flavored ice cream. It will be available through the W Hotel's room service as well as the hotels' Living Rooms (lobbies, in W-speak.)
“W is all about bringing its guests insider access to exclusive offerings they can’t experience anywhere else,” said Patrick Horstmann, General Manager of W New York - Downtown. “We’re honored to offer D’USSE de Leche, combining our passion for cocktails and the finest luxury products into one delicious indulgence.”
We recently shared the exciting news of W Milan coming in 2016 to the design capital of Milan. You’ve asked us for more information and trust us— we are working on it and will provide updates as we receive them. Yeah, we know, two years is a long time to wait and we share your pain.
We know that the new 76-room W Milan has a hot location in the artsy Brera District, within Milan's historical center. This area is a great fit for the W crowd, with its art galleries, hip boutiques, and plenty to see and do at night.

We thought yesterday's rental of a resort in the Florida Keys for a 12-13-14 was insane, namely because it costs nearly $200,000 but the W Hotels of New York City are on another level of cray.
They are now offering the services of a W Social Media Wedding Concierge whose job will be to document your entire wedding across all social media platforms including using a special wedding hashtag. The service costs $3,000 but you have to be hosting your wedding at one of the W Hotels in NYC to get access to the concierge.
The W Social Media Concierge will also help guests of the wedding post their own photos to social media.
Good God, what is this world coming to? Simply posting a picture of the happy couple on Facebook saying "Congrats!" is no longer enough?
And for what it's worth, uploading photos, Tweets, Instagrams, Vines, and Pinterest boards and creating hashtags is still completely free. So maybe take that three grand and extend the hours of the open bar while putting your college-aged cousin to work. #justsaying
TL; DR this is how we really feel:
W Hotels knows a good thing when they see it – the increasing popularity and value of Mexico as a destination both for business and leisure. With their first hotel debuting last year "south of the border," W Mexico City, two more hotels are scheduled to open in 2015--W Santa Fe and W Kanai Retreat.
The W Washington DC , the closest hotel to the White House, has announced a new VIP Suites Program in all of its 23 "Fantastic and Marvelous Suites," seven "WOW Suites" and one "Extreme WOW Suite." The suite names are typical W branding but the VIP package is indeed inclusive.
In addition to the W’s Whatever/Whenever service (as long as it’s legal…), the VIP Suites Program gets you:
· A dedicated VIP Concierge that is assigned to each guest
· Guaranteed table at POV nightclub
· Guaranteed reservation at J&G Steakhouse, W’s critically-acclaimed restaurant
· $100 Food and Beverage credit, which can be applied toward POV, J&G or room service
· Complimentary luxury return transportation to the airport (Reagan National Airport or Dulles) or Union Station
· Breakfast for two and fresh fruit delivered daily
· An expanded lineup of Bliss amenities, from the Bliss Spa located in the hotel
· Complimentary high-speed Internet access
· A welcome amenity and farewell gift on the night before departure
It's cold, snowy and miserable, and Cinco de Mayo is just too far away. So what are NYC hotels to do to cheer us all up? Why, celebrate National Margarita Day, of course. (Yes, that really is a thing). It's officially tomorrow, but, we say, why not get started tonight?
Here's where and what to drink (and how to make your own):
Classic Margarita ($19, in above photo) from the Vintage Specialty Cocktails menu at Trouble’s Trust in The New York Palace 1.5 oz Patron Silver 1 oz Cointreau 1.5 Fresh Lime Juice 0.5 oz Simple Syrup Serve on the rocks or in a Martini glass. Garnish with salt.
The W Chicago City Center hosted an early Valentine's Day bash on Tuesday night in their new Extreme Wow (or "EWow") Suite, which is different from any other suite in a few ways.
First: it has Space Invaders. That's right— just off the entrance, a small arcade area houses throwback games. As for the rest?
The 22nd-floor suite, which opened quietly in August, spans 1,500 square feet. In a made-for-entertaining living room area, a serpentine couch is topped with fuzzy throws and jewel-hued pillows; there's also a 55-inch TV and a high-top bar with seating for four. On the night we stopped by, the hotel's in-house mixologist Lauren Parton was whipping up personalized "love potion" sips behind the bar; we hear she works her magic, and can even lead demos, at all types of private W functions.
In the bedroom, a king-size bed is topped with 350-thread-count Egyptian cotton sheets. A corner dressing salon—kind of perfect for bridal parties— has two, floor-to-ceiling mirrored wardrobes, a vanity desk with an illuminated oval mirror, and a three-way dressing mirror.
The first rendering (we have a picture from almost exactly the same angle just below) also clearly shows the all-glass top floor that will be added to create an ‘upside down’ hotel with Living Room lobby, restaurant, and bar all on the hotel’s rooftop.
Billed as the only downtown Chicago hotel that overlooks Lake Michigan, W Chicago Lakeshore boasts views of the "sparkling lakefront and Chicago's glittering skyline" on its website. True, but the interior view may be a little less, shall we say, shiny. Don't fret, W diehards: That's all about to change.
On TripAdvisor, a user called Seattle97010 titled his June 2013 review of the property "Renovation Ready," and noted the "shabby condition" of its rooms. (Look, he did say the "restaurant was great, though.") In response, a W rep apologized and promised: "we will be going through a complete renovation and redesign soon." When will it be finished? The jury's still out. Drive-bys confirm that there is in fact some scaffolding and construction equipment outside the hotel—always a good sign—and another W spokesperson told us that renovations should be done by the end of the year.
