The Killer View of CityCenter from Hotel32

So we weren't in love with our experience at the Paradise Tower at The Hard Rock but we were might impressed by the new rooms at Hotel32, the new boutique floor atop the Monte Carlot Hotel and Casino.

Here's a snapshot from the Hotel32 lounge which offers up killer views of CityCenter. What you're looking at right here is the Aria Hotel and Casino. In the corner, you can see the tip of the new Cirque du Soleil building which will house the Elvis show. Yes, an Elvis Cirque du Soleil show!

After some pretty dark times this year, CityCenter is now moving forward with plans to open Aria, Vdara Resort and The Crystals luxury shopping complex, all in December. We can't wait.

The Stratosphere is 'Fine', But Noisy

August 5, 2009 at 6:21 PM | by Jenna | 0 Comments

Our newest baby sibling (they grow up so fast!) VegasChatter has sent a correspondent into the Stratosphere. And it wasn't that bad! Seriously! But really, it wasn't all that cheap, either (especially considering the place was going for $25 not too long ago): at a price of $80 for a Friday night and $115 for a Saturday, VC opted to go for the Strat through the Hotwire route — and ended up paying $54 on Friday and $75 on Saturday.

The official verdict: "Although it won’t be making it onto our list of great hotel rooms, for the price, it was fine." Oh, also: it was a bit noisy. But head on over to VC to check out the video tour of the room and the full rundown of the Stratos-perience.

Treasure Island Is Decent, But Don't Expect a Room of Riches

Go To The Hotel's Web
Site Where: 3300 Las Vegas Boulevard South [map], Las Vegas, NV, United States, 89109
July 8, 2009 at 5:43 PM | by juliana | 1 Comment

The other week we finally got to experience the renovated rooms at Treasure Island for ourselves. Although, "experience" might not be quite the right word. Sure, the rooms were all gussied up and they sported newish decor and furniture but the amenities left a lot to be desired.

As we wrote on VegasChatter:

Nothing too fanciful here, just modern furnishings and fixtures and a view of the Trump Tower out the back of the hotel. However, the walls were pretty thin as we could hear nearly everything in the hallway and in the rooms next door. Plus, we could hear a bit of the freeway noise as our room overlooked the freeway on-ramps.

So in other words it was definitely better than The Luxor, not as good as the Flamingo's GO Rooms and far, far, far below anything across the street at either The Palazzo, The Venetian, Wynn or Encore.

Also we paid $189 on Friday night and $209 on Saturday night which we thought was way too much for this so-so property. Arrrgh.

What Happens in Vegas Stays in Vegas. Especially If You Get Arrested.

July 1, 2009 at 6:19 PM | by Jenna | 0 Comments

Have we bragged about our baby sibling lately? Allow us to remind you: we recently birthed a younger brother or sister (or brother dressed like a sister! It's Sin City — anything goes!) who enjoys sequins, bright lights and late nights: VegasChatter, doing a kickass job of covering all things Vegas.

This week, the Sin City experts at VC are giving you their take on the new Vegas ads (yes, the "What Happens in Vegas Stays in Vegas" ones), except this year the ol' Visit Las Vegas folks have put a new spin on the ads by sarcastically applying the "What Happens Here, Stays Here" slogan to other places and events. Like, "What Happens in Billups County, Stays in Billups County" or "What Happens at the Caribou Lodge, Stays at The Caribou Lodge." Ha! Story here, video above.

How to Get a Vegas Room Upgrade at Check-In

June 19, 2009 at 3:07 PM | by Jenna | 0 Comments

Our pals at VegasChatter have been doing a totally kickass job of keeping their hot little fingers on the pulse of Sin City, and this week they've got a whole lotta sweetness for hotel geeks, Vegas junkies and strip novices alike.

VC had a pow-wow with a top-secret Vegas hotel insider — that is, a seasoned front desker at one of Sin City's best and most prominent hotels — and "Mr. B." dished some super helpful tips on how to go about scoring a room upgrade at your Vegas hotel. His tips, combined with the experience of VegasChatter's LV-savvy crew of editors, were all pooled together to bring you this definitive guide to landing a room upgrade while you're checking in. Check it out.

And no, slipping the front desker a $20 doesn't always work. (But sometimes it does!)

Which Nightclub Is Steppin' Off the Vegas Strip?

May 29, 2009 at 5:40 PM | by Jenna | 1 Comment

Blind item time! Our bicurious, sequin-loving baby sibling over at VegasChatter has a steaming hot piece of gossip. Well, gossip they got via Robin Leach: he's reported a few blind items involving Strip hotels that have us, in the words of VC, "as giddy as the blue-haired biddies in a suburban hair salon. He says:

There’s a major shock coming in the nightclub world when a Strip hotel owner announces that the lease is up for a headline name owner. The goodbye letter was sent to the club over the weekend. I’ve been told the full story, but won’t name names yet because there’s a second property within the hotel that might be affected, too.

Eh? Any guesses? Commenters over there are thinkin' it might be Studio 54. But it could be anything, really.

Where 'Top Chef' Season Six Was Filmed Around Vegas

May 22, 2009 at 3:22 PM | by Jenna | 0 Comments

Have we bragged about our baby sibling lately? Allow us to remind you: we recently birthed a younger brother or sister (or brother dressed like a sister! It's Sin City — anything goes!) who enjoys sequins, bright lights and late nights: VegasChatter, doing a kickass job of covering all things Vegas.

Lately, there have been a couple of Bravo's Top Chef sightings as the cheftestants, Tom C. and the gang bounced around from hotel to hotel shooting Season Six. So far they've been seen at Mandalay Bay and The M Resort — track 'em over here.

Also happening in the Vegas hotel world:

Introducing VegasChatter, Baby

April 20, 2009 at 9:54 AM | by HotelChatter | 0 Comments

Remember how Laverne & Shirley were so popular on Happy Days they got their own spin-off show? Well, that, in a nutshell is how VegasChatter was born. Las Vegas has always been one of the world's most popular travel destinations, and for years "the entertainment capital of the world" was in dire need of a daily travel web publication that what would cover Vegas the same way HotelChatter covers hotels and Jaunted covers travel — from a traveler's perspective.

Hat tip to Budget Travel, World Hum, LA Times, and Concierge (built-in advantage), all of whom discovered and broke the launch story before we officially announced it today.

Our favorite story thus far has to be where to go to church in Las Vegas.

Also: Give a click on the roulette wheel and you will see the latest Las Vegas stories from all three sites — HotelChatter, Jaunted, and VegasChatter — plotted in the form of a map mash up.

The brief site launch announcement is, as they said way back in 2005, after the break...
