This week a Sydney Morning Herald journo tried it out and reported back on what exactly is involved in being provocateurs for the night, and it all sounds rather tasteful and a lot of fun.

Chocolates, rose petals, champagne and strawberries are standard fare for the current round of Valentine's Day special packages every hotel dishes out around this time of year. And at the Pan Pacific Seattle several of these are included, too, in particular the champagne and chocolate-dipped strawberries, as well as brunch in bed, extended check out time, and a room with a view of Seattle's Space Needle from the bath tub.
While you're lying in bed, you'll have something to watch as the package also includes free access to all of the romantic in-room movies (really? Only the romantic ones?). And what do you think you'll be wearing in bed? Probably half a set of pajamas.
Yep, this package includes one pair of pajamas to share: they suggest top for her, bottoms for him. We presume they're trying to come up with a cutesy idea but really, can't we decide for ourselves which bits we want to wear, if any? The package starts at $390 per double but we'll only book if we get a pair of pajamas each. And no cartoon ducks or chickens on 'em.
The other week we mentioned where the Giants were shacking up for the Super Bowl but we had no idea that it was at one of the "World's 100 Sexiest Hotels"? At least, according to rankings by the website Sexiest Hotels Inc.
So if you're the ultimate Giant fan and you're looking for a romantic getaway, then you should hit up The Sheraton Wild Horse Pass Resort & Spa, which is offering a sensuous special for V-Day.
First up, choose one of Aji Spa's treatments, such as the Honey Rose Body Wrap or the Aromatherapy Companion Massage. However, we would probably prefer The Chocolate Dipped Strawberry Pedicure, which includes a chocolate foot masque followed by a strawberry-body-butter massage -- all the while sampling your own chocolate-dipped strawberries and sipping a glass of champagne. Mmm...
Of course, once properly pampered, guests are encouraged to get a room. And not just any room.
The Wild Horse Pass "True Love and Truffles" room package includes an overnight stay for two, the Bed of Roses rose-petal turndown service (which sounds cheesy but chicks dig it), as well as a special room delivery of champagne and truffles. Make it a late-nighter and take advantage of the resort's 4 p.m. late checkout the following afternoon (based on availability). Rates at the 500-room AAA four-diamond start at $475 per night.
The Luxe Hotel Rodeo Drive really seems to love their packages, if you remember the Who's Your Daddy? package last Father's Day. Coming up from February Luxe has got a Love Me, Lavish Me package just ready for Valentine's Day.
If you love your other half and are prepared to lavish them too, it'll set you back $329 per person, and include a deluxe double room, a welcome bottle of Veuve Cliquot champagne (plus strawberries), continental breakfast either in the restaurant or in your room, one free in-room movie (they don't say if they include all channels ...) and a bathtub turndown which includes, in the spirit of V-Day, scattered rose petals.
The tricky thing about this Valentine's Day special is it's valid right through until December 29, 2008. So guys, there is absolutely no excuse at all not to do some lavishing some time this year.
