An Unlikely Partnership: The Pierre Hotel and The VMAs

Wanna rub shoulders with these two? Yeah, we don't want to either.

Go ahead. Say it. Just like we're too old for most reality shows, we're too old for the VMAs. Young kids don't want the likes of us around them, trying to get into their groove thang with our beepers and our Cross Colors shortalls. (See, we just dated ourselves.) So that's why we promise to stay away.

But whether you like it or not, MTV's Video Music Awards are coming back to New York on September 13th, with British comedian Russell Brand set to host again. Also making a comeback? Free swag! Swag at events like the VMAs, the Grammys and the Oscars came under scrutiny by the IRS a little while ago forcing celebrities to start actually paying for some stuff. (We know! That's like, inhumane.)

Yet the fear must have subsided because we just got a press release for a VMA gifting suite at the most unexpected hotel in New York.

Quite Possibly Our Last Post Ever About the MTV VMAs

MTV tried to make the VMAs cool again by moving the show to The Palms in Las Vegas but we think, and many others seem to feel the same, that this was the worst show ever. This is despite the fact they used some of the Fantasy suites as performance spots.

Shoot, we would have preferred yet another marathon rerun of American's Next Top Model or even a marathon of "After the Show" recaps of The Hills.

However, one thing totally worth it was to see Britney Spears officially close the door shut on her career with her disastrous performance.

That and Kid Rock and Tommy Lee going at each other for round two.

This Weekend Might Be a Good Weekend to Avoid Vegas

Britney Spears has formally announced her intention to appear at the MTV Video Music Awards this Sunday, September 9th at the Palms Hotel & Casino. Considering that the girl made good on her promise to show up at LAX inside the Luxor last week, this comeback appearance might actually go off. We just ask that she leave the rotating bed in the Hugh Hefner suite alone. But then again, if she doesn't use it someone equally gross like Tommy Lee probably will.

Once again, we check in with what's going on in Vegas this weekend:
